  1. I'm pretty sure they're in LA, just like the NFL model where all those announcers are at the central location. A quick google search tells me that they're about to start up a tour on the west coast in the next two weeks, so they may very well be out there for that already anyway. I wonder if the teams without a pick have named an announcer... they could do the second round maybe?
  2. You posed for a commercial?
  3. @Taro T, my take from the few things I’ve heard is that it will be a full time job for one person instead of having to deal with call ups. Pure speculation on my part, but I’d guess that they’d loosen the restrictions a bit so they could avoid any potential embarrassment from losing to a beer leaguer. It creates a job, so the union loves in no matter how low the money is. They’ll have to add in some provision allowing that person to be replaced just in case something life gets in the way and makes that person unavailable. We’ll have to wait and see. It should be interesting.
  4. So at this point all they have to show from trading Byram is a second round pick?
  5. Someone sure does want to keep his name in the news cycle.
  6. Doesn’t that defeat the whole emergency thing though? That last second travel from where ever the farm club is, that’s a huge issue. The EBUG is someone who is always in house. They need someone there in case something happens very close to puck drop. 84 is already intended to divide up the games more evenly. Other conference: 2 games X 16 teams Within division: 4 games X 7 teams Rest of your conference: 3 games X 8 teams That all adds up to 84. Previously 2 game were dropped off of the in conference matchups. The other option would be to cut down to 2 games in the conference and go down to 76. Let’s face it, that was never going to happen. Any expansion throws this game count out the window.
  7. On XM they’re saying both the 16th and 17th pick as well as a prospect. So something else probably moves to Montreal. That makes me feel good for the Byram market.
  8. I would hope that we have a lot of viewings of that team regardless of who we previously drafted. They’re practically in our backyard.
  9. In my mind I keep saying Kesserling. That one rolls off the tongue a lot easier. edit: Unless you're Phil and you already have 3 rings.
  10. I want to know who actually fills this position. Is it still just some beer league scrub who is guaranteed to be there every night? I can't picture any pro signing up for a deal where they will never play unless it is someone who is already done.
  11. I forget the exact terminology but there always was the equivalent of a qualifying offer in there to retain drafted players' rights. It was really more of a formality than anything, not something these guys were ever going to sign. I'm sure that will carry over. So there is a mechanic in there to release their rights.
  12. That part about switching to college isn’t really the important part. What’s important, if I’m reading it correctly, is that all major junior players drafted at 18 are now held for 4 years instead of just 2. That probably prevents a Hagel situation from happening… or at least makes it less likely.
  13. Or Doan can go back to his dad’s 19 now that he’s in a place where it isn’t retired. Edit: Ah crap, it’s taken. But maybe Krebs isn’t around next year.
  14. And even if a guy rejects a trade, his opinion can very easily change if that one team is suddenly offering a lot more than anyone else. I’m not trying to suggest anything about Ehlers when I say it, it’s just meant to be more generic of a statement.
  15. It’s in quotes though, so it can’t be a typo. He likes bread and leaving.
  16. There's a few other issues with a reporter throwing garbage like that out there. We have no indication of how serious these offers actually were and what other pieces were involved. Edit: Well, that and the fact that it's so much easier for a GM to say "well I would have offered this" after the deal has already been made.
  17. Until they add Dobson and completely ruin your post.
  18. I’m too lazy to look it up. They were all on AHL deals previously, right?
  19. I’m not so sure your definition of cost controlled matches mine. You’d have to still be on your ELC for that, at least in my mind.
  20. Technically, they could fight a 15 year old too… but the entire team is getting released if they allow one of the exceptional status players to drop the gloves.
  21. He has a draft eligible kid already? I just assumed his son was 3 when I read that first post. Next you’ll be telling me that Drury’s grandson is an option in the 3rd round.
  22. I do think that’s it’s pretty clear that they are moving away from that team that looks the other way while Thompson and Dahlin get mugged. The question is just how many goals need to be removed from the scoresheet to accomplish that.
  23. And this is where that new strength and conditioning guy comes in. Hopefully there’s something there. Norris will be his first true test.
  24. I need to see the full offseason to really know for sure. If this is one of those culture change moments, there should be a lot of it.
