I think those two firings have/will establish where the two teams currently are. By firing Bylsma, they clearly send the message that they must win now or else. Vancouver on the other hand thought they still had something when they hired Torts. This past season showed them that they are officially in more of a rebuild period. They're going to be far more lenient as they go through some growing pains.

It also comes with a much shorter leash though.

I'd gladly have Eichel test this theory by putting up a Kariya-like freshman season. Oh wait, you said realisitic... crap, there goes that dream scenario. Of course, now that I've said it, Eichel will probably go and put up a Kariya-like freshman season, only it'll be a Steve Kariya-like season.

And I think he may have started 0-1 in those game 7s. It's a bit crazy how many game 7s the Rags have won in a row.

That's not what the section I quoted refers to. It is stating how long they hold his draft rights. The negotiating rights in this case refer specifically to a drafted player.

It's what I was talking about, yes. It wasn't the worst thing in the world, but it certainly was bush league and something a so called class act player wouldn't do.

I love people who make an endless amount of noise complaints. In my old apartment we had this 50-something couple living below us who would call us weekly to complain. I should have known right from the start that they were going to be a pain when they complained about me making too much noise when I was moving my stuff in at around that same time, 3pm on a saturday. The best though was when they called the landlord a few days before Christmas to complain about my roommate and I playing loud music and slamming heavy objects onto the floor. My roommate was in California and I was in Buffalo.... No one was even home! That right there was all the proof I needed that these people were just power hungry and would make stuff up so that they could have this false sense of being in charge in the building.

I just wish we could find out who that other team was and what their offer was. It's a shame we can never find out all this information because so many crazy and interesting things have to happen on the draft day.

The purpose is to spread out revenue more evenly across the entire league, revenue that is a product of what the league does as a whole. Why should one guy suddenly not qualify for that simply because he has more money than someone else. Should I get a bigger paycheck than a person doing the same job at the same company simply because he's got a rich father? The owners as a whole agreed to the rules which are in place. There is nothing to complain about here from any of them. Of course, the only complaints are coming from people completely independent of the process who have no idea what is really going on.

So they took both Quinn and Weeden at 22 overall, and now Manziel. That's pretty crazy. It obviously means nothing for Manziel, but it is a funny coincidence.

Revenue sharing has absolutely nothing to do with the wallet size of any individual owner. The whole goal is to get as close as possible to a scenario where every single owner makes money. This league exists as a single unit trying to make money for everyone. If you're making $10 a week and I'm losing $3, you kick a couple extra dollars my way to keep me out of the red, while still making money. In the big picture, they league revenue is still exactly the same. Those couple extra bucks keep me from shutting down my team. Sure, I might have a ton of money from other stuff, but you can't establish rules based on a rare circumstance. The more crazy conditions you throw into the agreement, the more difficult it becomes to follow.

Does anyone else find "there's orange in the endzone" to be a really annoying catch phrase?

I'm enjoying the stuff with the Browns today. The whole thing reminds me of the year where they did some wheeling and dealing and walked away with Brady Quinn. And on to Watkins. If nothing else, it's good to see us actually being one of the big stories of the draft day for once. In two quick years, we've turned a ridiculously thin core of WRs into what looks to be a very strong group. If they can patch up the line a bit in the 2nd, this offense stands to be very interesting. And let's face it, with the passing league this has turned out to be, we are moving in the right direction here. Now we just have to hope for the best with EJ...

I checked in on the interview and the response I got was that their department doesn't move very quickly and I shouldn't expect to hear anything anytime soon. So I can read the writing on the wall on that one. I'll never hear anything from them again, so I'm moving on. Sorry to hear about that weave. Were your families close at all?

We have the burial for my father-in-law this weekend, 4 months after his death. So this one is going to drag up a lot of mixed feelings for a few people. This weekend is definitely going to suck.

I get the impression from this story that she was looking solely for the sake of snooping. She was looking for an argument and she got one. Now we just need to know the severity of this incident, was it a legitimate attack or something that is getting blown out of proportion. I'm sure this one will just go away when cooler heads take over. If you ever get to the stage of picking out a rock, just tell the salesman to put the super fancy one away right away. Of course that $20,000 rock is going to look a million times better than the $5k one. And no matter which comparisons they try to line up, your eyes are always going to flock to that fancy one as long as it is out on the table.

I heard someone comment yesterday that he sometimes faced up to 5 blockers. I'd love to see how productive the offense that attempted that was.
