Sizzle, I think you're looking too far into the future for that draft pick trade bait. The extra picks this year may very well wind up being that piece instead.
-
The whole thing is very dependent on a lot of factors. That Nashville team last year just happened to have the best goalie in the league out with an injury, had a defenseman who many believe to be the best in the league signed up to a long term deal, and were one year removed from drafting another defenseman with a very high ceiling. They had a good foundation in place so it was much easier to go the route they did. Buffalo didn't have that in place yet. There may have been a collection of moves that would have put Buffalo up into immediate playoff contention, but let's face it, the path they took was easier in the short term. And if karma cared one bit, there's a long list of winning teams across all sports that never would have gotten that far.

Sabres player notes 2014-15 (callups, injuries, practice notes)

It's a shame that basically all of my experience with Tim Murray comments has come in the printed form. I know that I'm missing out on some good stuff. -
I can't help but laugh that I got two answers to my rhetorical question. And the sooner people start to think this way, to sooner we can be rid of the pointless anger that people begin to spew the second a no goal or Norwood reference is made.

Maybe something you can include in your summary next time? ;) I hope it doesn't look like I'm complaining about your post. The rest was pretty straightforward, that one line just looked odd. -

Without hearing the actually comment, there's another way to spin it. If he does get that one ring, he can then repeat that same approach the following year, except this time it's "all I want is one MORE ring". At the start of every single season, you can't go out there and win five cups. All you can do is win one. -

Way to go out on a limb there, Timmy. -
Forget about everything that has happened up to this point. All that matters is where the team is today. At this point, is there anyone who would rather have Marner over McDavid?

It reminds me of the Pedro Martinez talk in baseball. He may not have had as long of a career as other guys, but many people will say that Pedro at his peak was the most dominant pitcher that ever lived.

And Toronto will?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The don't trade to a rival idea is complete BS. If the trade makes you better, you make it. In this case, what made Montreal better was some salary flexibility.

Was there much of a convincing process on this one? I don't really remember much talk about that. It was definitely a quicker process than Regehr. My memory could very easily be off though.

I think you need to leave the nicknames to Taro.

Usually I have to check and see who it is when someone changes their username. This time? Not so much.

The get out of jail mostly free card. I have yet to pull that one from Chance yet.

My guess is that Brodeur wasn't going to retire unless he could continue to collect paychecks. Hand him a paper title in the front office and problem solved. So yes, he's not doing a damn thing with this job.

Both teams had to have talked about and agreed on it.

So in other words, St. Louis found a round about way to keep paying him even though he's retiring.

You could really have some fun if you dig deeply into the early years of the leagues. You could claim that Montreal last two teams, the Maroons and Wanderers. Quebec apparently had a short lived team in the early years of the league too. I bet the other leagues have these stories too, but I'm not as familiar with them. That's cheating though, because I'd hesitate to even call teams from that era professional.

You want to know the funniest part about what you just posted? Garth has been the GM of the Islanders for just about 9 years now, yet he's only 3 years older than Brodeur.
-
Aren't they also in bold if there are new posts?

So Detroit is right around an average of 11 PPGs per month. We have 13 all year. Have fun with that one.

If any name screams marketability, it's Jhonas Enroth.
