  1. And those comments I made about Mrtka? What was I thinking. I need to go back and find those.
  2. I can’t remember if this was a sarcastic conversation but AHL time would probably have been great for him. He falls dead center of the couple draft classes that lost significant development time to COVID.
  3. I just wish I had made that exact point about Novikov getting some time in the NHL this year. Oh right, I did. Arguing just for the sake of argument sure is fun. I love the internet.
  4. I think just about everyone did. I didn’t figure that out until Matias showed up in the NCAA.
  5. There’s a lot of hockey to come this year. If he keeps on track, he’ll see time this year. Again, he’s 22 and we’ve rushed far too many players in recent years. Let him lead that Rochester team for a bit and then give him his time.
  6. He’s 22 and has been here 2 years. We don’t need to rush everyone.
  7. The agent sure does hate him taking that deal though. I do think though that the PA much prefers the attention grabbing deals. We all know they don’t care one bit about the Malenstyn’s of the world.
  8. Right, his father. The original post mentioned his uncle playing in the NHL too.
  9. Ulf isn’t his uncle. Was there another Samuelsson that I’m not aware of?
  10. White end zones with white sidelines sounds like a truly awful idea.
  11. The union must have really hated Crosby for each of those $8.7 million contracts he took. He never attempted to cash out like Kaprizov did here.
  12. Day to day during training camp is probably the equivalent of icing a bruise during the season. They’re not going to mess with even the most minor thing.
  13. They initially gave Kaprizov a 5 year $9 million contract after one year in the league. They did pay him early. He's just fortunate that his contract was ending at the right time. Dahlin and Tage? Their previous contracts ended a couple years too early for their bank accounts.
  14. So what kind of QB will the Jets be corrupting with their very early pick coming up in the draft?
  15. These CBA-related rules? Yeah, they can’t just change them on the fly. The only thing you mention that was is the 2006 stuff. I don’t specifically remember what you’re saying, maybe that was the case, but I thought it was an issue where Darcy thought they’d handle it that way but was wrong. But if they’ve been told it will be in place, I’m good then. When it comes to how people are paid, it needs to be set in stone already at this point.
  16. I feel like they’d have to know by now if they were going to do the playoff thing and we would have heard it. You can’t change an accounting thing mid-season. If a team makes a move thinking it will be counted one way, changing that on them suddenly doesn’t go well. Which ones have they actually said are in place now? I can’t remember and the only things I see with a lazy google search are non-CBA rule changes.
  17. And he’s been waived before.
  18. I did hear some of the guys on the NHL station in XM last week, ones who I would say are particularly harsh on the Sabres, picking Thompson as one of 4-5 players who will hit 50 goals this year. It caught my attention because one was saying Matthews won’t get there because he’ll get hurt. I would expect the same to be said of Thompson. Let’s face it, he typically misses a decent stretch of games, or hits a slow patch because he’s fighting through something.
  19. Does Cameron Rowe have an AHL contract? I had to look him up, but it does seem a bit odd to have Levi and then 3 first year pros in net. They'll get one of the vets eventually (Georgiev). Even still, that's a lot of inexperience to start out in the ECHL. I did wonder a bit if Georgiev would be let out of his contract if he didn't stick in the NHL, but that can't happen at this point.
  20. He’s still waiver exempt, isn’t he? Teams play so many games at this time of the year with the timing of these moves.
  21. It’s not a good contract but $4.3 million is not a back breaker, especially with where the cap is supposed to go. I even said it when they signed it, if it went wrong, that one was never going to cripple them.
  22. It’s looking like Baltimore is officially not competing with the Bills for the 1 seed anymore.
  23. Cook is going to regret signing that contract.
  24. That Bishop interception is going to be all over the highlight reels.
  25. Power was claimed to be a physical presence?
