  1. I'd rather have Kane, depending on the money obviously. If it's somehow a decision between the two, I stick with the guy who's 8 years younger. The contract's the big if there though.
  2. He should have to come back on the same exact contract. It's still ridiculous that they were able to get out of that nearly free.
  3. The Sabres.
  4. Given what he pulled, I wonder how many teams would even be interested. I guess this is the year for him to try it though. He's 34 so no one gets stuck with a 35+ contract if/when he bolts again.
  5. Yeah, I don't mean to imply that it should be here.
  6. Did they ever give him a contract?
  7. It's all so cyclical. That heavy approach is going to come back at some point. It always does.
  8. They didn't convince you already by completely ignoring anything related to that movie last time around? Hell, even after ignoring it, they went even played it safe by using the time travel to completely erase it. I'm actually kind of surprised that they made a reference or two to it in Logan. Talk about huge shoes to fill. They've done a great job with these two characters all the way through how ever many movies they're up to now. I really don't know too much about McAvoy, but Fassbender has probably been the best out of all four actors in these movies. I'd love to see him get a standalone movie at some point because they've put so much more effort into that character than they have any of the others.
  9. Ahhh, so world cup. Another thing I'm not going to hold against anyone. They're building a team using a completely different set of rules than their day to day job and then there's all the politics involved. So like I said, I'm going to lean much more towards real life evidence like the cap stuff when I figure out whether or not he'd be a good hire.
  10. I'm way behind on this thread, but just for fun, I feel like calling it the trendy "Avs model" instead. It just goes to show you that it's far more about the people than it is the model.
  11. I can understand the cap stuff, but I have a hard time holding anything olympic related for or against any GM. That's such a different animal all together.
  12. I'd gladly settle for a disastrous three years if you get the same lead up to it. I know this response is overly simplistic, but my main take away when I think about Lombardi right now is that there's a big difference between giving a bad contract to Dustin Brown and giving one to Jack Eichel. The cap games get a lot easier to stomach when you're dealing with early 20 somethings and you know they're nowhere near the point where they're going to fall off the cliff.
  13. I haven't been able to pay much attention to them this year, but people always seem to blush about Darling. Can they find a way to keep him around on the cheap and send Crawford packing? That certainly would open up some space.
  14. And I thought it worked well. Hand out a little basic information and then we'll get back to you when the plans become more concrete. I know we all want to think that there's a specific vision of exactly what will happen at this very moment, but that's completely unrealistic.
  15. This immediately brings to mind some of the owners born into the industry, the Rooneys and Maras of the world. Those two being the first that come to mind, that's two very successful organizations. I wonder how these multi-generations ownerships have fared as a whole.
  16. I assume you mean Ron Francis 3 or 4 years ago since he is the GM in Carolina. Anyway, I think Drury is exactly where he wants to be. Not that he's anywhere near ready to be anything other than what he is now, but he is not leaving that organization. edit: , I just agreed with liger (I assume that's you).
  17. With the crazy beads her sister had in her hair at the start of her career, I just assumed she was a Predator.
  18. I won't say I wanted it, mostly because I never seriously considered it as an option. That said, I have no problem with the decision. These times where you are completely restarting things, to me, are some of the most exciting times for a team. Whoever steps in and takes over is definitely starting from a much better point than Murray did.
  19. I can think of one poster who will love this idea. It's time to turn Kim into the owner from Major League.
  20. I liked the general message Pegula presented today, but that might be fully the result of having low expectations. It was not the trainwreck I worried I'd see. He felt more like an owner than he has at any point before. I still worry that he's not the best equipped for finding the right people for these jobs, but I feel better about it than I did at 9am today.
  21. When questions start to pop up about a lack of structure and communication, it's completely natural for the very gruff guy like Murray to find himself on the chopping block. I can't picture someone like him ever correcting that type of issue. Maybe he's just a better fit as a completely behind the scenes guy in the scouting department.
  22. Just posted it in the other thread. I will definitely ask around with my friends far more in tune with that program when I get the chance.
  23. Is this sort of like a Sports Illustrated Football Phone?
  24. I might as well chime in on this character thing. I think it's 100% on the front office and not about the players one bit. A pretty clear picture has been painted of a lack of communication from the coach and GM. That's very easy to picture with the persona Murray presents. The whole thing clearly went off the rails in the last couple months and they need to go in a much different direction.
  25. No one shot our dog (where is he anyway) and it's not the end of the world. Let's not throw common courtesy out the window.
