  1. To me the whole thing sounds like it is written from the Montreal prospective. We would have done this and that... completely ignoring any thoughts from the other teams.
  2. My nextdoor neighbor has completely neglected his lawn now that the house is under contract. It's a real shame. He used to water a ton and since his yard is slightly higher than mine, that side of my yard would be a little extra green. I want more free water! :D
  3. Older is a subjective term and you're not going to describe it by looking at one year's rosters.
  4. Why do we constantly revise history is situations like this? When the rags traded him, he was still playing in juniors and was the top piece included in the trade that brought them Yandle. That is not a case of the team giving up on him. These last two transactions don't look so great, but that first trade is the exact opposite of what we're trying to say about him now.
  5. I was going to say we need to keep worthless bounceyball comparisons out of here. But since the Islanders play in a bounceyball arena, I'm going to allow it.
  6. The only other Dougie I can think of is Dr Evil. I'm not sure whether this backs up my anti-Dougie stance or hurts it.
  7. The leagues aren't that big. Someone could simply count the number of players over a certain age and then look at the percentage of the league over that age. But anyway, it's kind of pointless since it's going to change from year to year. I'm amazed at the conclusion we've reached in this thread. These leagues have an age range of 3 or 4 years and the average age is very similar across the board? Wow, who could have seen that coming.
  8. We're doomed!
  9. I just got a robocall from one of those IRS scams. It was one of the strangest things I've ever heard. It had a computerized voice with the most broken english I have ever heard. I'm assuming it was an IRS scam because the english was so broken that I don't even know what it was trying to get me to do.
  10. I still can't take him seriously since he goes by Dougie.
  11. I heard a quote on the radio this morning from the Hurricanes owner talking about Svechnikov, "he's so good that we would have drafted him even if he was a bad person". Quotes like this are a good reason why people who wish Pegula would talk more might want to re-think that stance. It's mostly harmless, but my god is it stupid.
  12. Only if they find a guy named Taint to skate between them.
  13. Ahh crap, wrong guy. All Europeans look alike?
  14. So much for Lindholm being their only untouchable
  15. A three year deal for Kovalchuk? Enjoy that cap hit when he bails after one year.
  16. Angus Crookshank? I do t care if it’s Ottawa, that guy needs to be a star
  17. With that name, he instantly becomes inky’s Favorite player
  18. Here’s as simple of an analysis as possible. If they hit on this pick, defensive depth very quickly becomes an organizational strength. A big of, but please let this happen.
  19. The owner’s kid or grandkid announces the pick for Carolina? I feel like that fits perfectly with the questions about that ownership
  20. They should just clear out the building. These people are scumbags. The team name was still on the screen behind him. Should have been an obvious clue
  21. Horrible move by the Dallas fans booing Bettman during the tribute to Humboldt. Credit to Bettman for how he handled it
  22. I'm absolutely terrified of taking someone else's multi-year backup and trying to make him a starter. Granted I've got Scott Darling fresh on the mind, but I feel like it fails more often than not. It's a position that I think you need to develop on your own most of the time. Fortunately we have a guy in house who fits that role right now. You do need a guy for a platoon setup, so maybe that is a better spot for converting someone else's backup, but I'm not so crazy about giving up much of anything to fill that spot.
  23. Well there's your problem right there.
  24. I have not bothered to look deeply into some of the analytics out there, but I can safely say they'll go much more in depth than just looking at average points per game. That would be like showing off your addition skills at a quantum physics convention. Edit: Ah crap, I just now realized this was the trade tracker thread. Sorry for that derail.
  25. You can certainly compare within the same season. Things are much more static there. You've introduced a ton of variability by going across seasons/coaches/rosters/schedules. That's more than enough to suggest that it's not just simply a matter of being twice as productive. We may as well be comparing inkman's heart rate one day to the next where whoever today's hot celebrity is has been dancing around on his tv. There can be some politics involved with those rosters at times, but it's definitely something to keep in mind. We're always talking in here about how players perform at that tournament. It's a big check mark in the Tkachuk column. Maybe Wahlstrom could do the same, but to this point, it hasn't yet been shown.
