  1. Once we get to the point where you're not longer allowed to touch any player on the offense, you pretty much have to focus on making interceptions, right?
  2. Take a look at the Amerk stats. These guys' number are pretty heavily skewed towards the powerplay (Olofsson 7 of 12, Pilut 7 of 10). In fact, all of the top scorers on the team have very PP-favored numbers. That doesn't really scream NHL ready or production that is going to help the Sabres score goals. There's still a lot of work to be done here with these guys. edit: From a numbers perspective, I'm definitely keeping eye on Nylander with 7 points in 6 games, but only 3 on the PP. That may very well be of more use to the Sabres shortly, especially with the extra years of experience on this side of the pond.
  3. I feel like this one qualifies for excessive use of exclamation points
  4. I don’t think he’s interested in signing anywhere at this point. He’s obviously got a different goal at this point. This isn’t meant to be a shot at him, I just don’t see playing football being a part of what he wants to do right now, especially with the time that has passed, as you mentioned.
  5. My guess is that Peterman was about to be off the roster once Anderson got up to speed. Sadly, that plan was thrown out the window thanks to the injury. Say what you want about Peterman, but at this stage, to go with two QBs unfamiliar with the playbook just isn't doable, so he's not going away at this point. Maybe they can find another QB on the scrap heap, but that still requires a few more weeks of Peterman on the main roster.
  6. And that's exactly what we should be focusing on. Question the plan itself, not the subsequent moves made under that plan. It reminds me of this conversation I have with the wife on nearly a daily basis: Her: Did you call your mom? Me: No. Her: What did she say? She's asking the wrong question.
  7. Yeah, I don't mean to suggest it's the key thing, but it all adds together. It's so early right now, but I can't remember the last time we had a young guy start off immediately at the top of the AHL. Hopefully he can sustain this beyond just one week because it's one hell of a luxury to have a legit professional project waiting in the wings. That's the kind of thing that moves a team out of the dregs of the NHL.
  8. Has McCarron made any comments on this since he was moved? I don't want to ignore the possibility that he didn't want to be here once he lost out on the job. Either way, it's not like they moved out the second coming of Frank Reich when they made that deal. Like you said, they cleared out some more money. They had to spend some money to make any of those improvements. As SDS suggested, setting themselves up with the most assets and cap space beyond this year has been their main objective this entire time. They could strengthen the depth of the offense, but it comes at the cost of that build up of assets. It's completely reasonable to disagree with that approach, but it's clearly what they're doing here. It's not fun to watch, but this approach can't be given a final judgement until we see what they do with those assets.
  9. I feel like Montreal always starts out well. Then Carey Price gets hurt and the train goes off the tracks. Wash, rinse, and repeat.
  10. That's not exactly a predictor of NHL success. The success over there means absolutely nothing if you can't build him up properly over here. He wouldn't be the first or last guy to be confident overseas but then never have it transition to North America. If he can find that extended period of success over here at the AHL level, then the kid knows that his game can carry over. So yeah, it's not about how confident he might be now, it's about building on that and making him something greater.
  11. Let him thrive for a while. You can build up a confidence machine if he can continue on this path.
  12. They must think that keeping Peterman around is good for any other QB's self-esteem in a "hey, I'm better than that guy" kind of way. It's the same reason we let Charlie post so much.
  13. And without getting into what draws the most attention for Kaepernick, I'd have to imagine that cuban-americans are probably still not all that crazy about him.
  14. Please tell me they won with their non-Kenyan ringers.
  15. Once Skinner gets one, he'll be up to 6 a week later. I feel like we've seen it a million times, the snakebit goal scorer explodes once he gets a goal. I think it was two years ago where Kane started horribly and then still wound up close to 30.
  16. This has to be the strangest tangent I've ever seen in a thread on this board.
  17. Yeah, I never would have found it either. I'm twitter illiterate.
  18. If we have a Wilbur profile, we can definitely have a dedicated gif explainer profile.
  19. It depends on the definition of best that you’re going for, whether it’s the best at a single moment or the best over a longer period of time. I’ll throw Kyle Williams and Fred Jackson into the discussion for what they brought to the team for a very significant amount of time.
  20. Why would anyone do that willingly? I can find some acid for you to pour into your eyes while you're at it.
  21. They place a real live bat inside your toilet? Seems risky.
  22. Well there's your explanation for the empty seats... bounceyball

  24. This post is absolutely worthless without being able to see the destruction that is hinted at. It's like a cliffhanger ending to a tv show that gets canceled before you ever get to see the resolution. We just took over in the summer, so I'm looking forward to when those letters start to go out. From yesterday's meeting, I can already tell that they're going to go after the people who leave their garbage bins out front. It's going to be fun.
  25. They're still going to be fairly well protected from the 3 directions you don't see on screen, particularly behind the camera. The lawyers would be all over them if they put these reporters and camera people in a legitimately risky location.
