  1. There was also a 3rd round pick, by the way. But anyway, this is why I would really love to be a fly on the wall for one of these discussions. I'd love to know exactly how the talks progress up to the point of that 6th rounder being thrown in.
  2. Right, he doesn't have to, but it doesn't hurt either.
  3. The last piece of the Jeff Skinner trade? 6th round pick. So yes, they can be late throw ins on larger deals. Beat me to it.
  4. He made a trade request and then followed it up with nothing but an effort to make sure he still comes across as a team player. He played it well. There's really not all that much to see with all of this at this point.
  5. Beaulieu gets traded and we're comparing Buffalo and Winnipeg weather forecasts. I think that sums up his Sabre career perfectly.
  6. I'd imagine they let it go down to the wire and then took the best they could get.
  7. It seems like there's been more guys than usual this season who have been traded multiple times.
  8. I'd be pulling for a fancy AHL deal, but they've pretty much taken care of those already in the prior months.
  9. The power of hindsight is strong in this one.
  10. No one will ever be able to convince me that the whole thing wasn't fixed.
  11. Lemieux was 6 or so months removed from being drafted 31st overall and in the middle of a solid OHL season. It depends on draft quality obviously, but that's roughly the equivalent of the first round pick sent along with Guhle (since we're loosely equating things here). So on top of that, Winnipeg also got another first round pick. So again, if we ignore all the differences in the deals, sure, they're the same.
  12. Maybe I'm off on this one, but this whole discussion boils down to "Anaheim has a lot of changes coming up", but two people are disagreeing on how to word that.
  13. I'm picturing trades that are only made official if you are able to land the 8 ball in the corner pocket.
  14. If we ignore for a second that you're a male and you suck at drawing, you're just like Josie. You both post on this message board.
  15. Now there's a horrifying thought given that there is no in house option to fill the backup spot, both now and next year. They would obviously have to make another move, but way too much uncertainty there for my tastes.
  16. That Kane trade was not made from a position of depth. Guhle is moved today thanks in part to an evolving pool of defensemen. They have at least two guys currently in the NHL who are approach being ready for the NHL in Pilut and Borgen. They had nothing of the sort when they made the Kane deal, and on top of that, sending out two prospects along with the pick, as opposed to just one (and that's of course, ignoring the Myers-Bogosian component of that trade). So except for its differences, it's the same thing? That's an odd statement to make.
  17. I didn't even notice that it was the same team in both of those trades. So Carolina sends Pu for future considerations. Then they send future considerations for Jurco in a separate deal. That's kind of odd. Should be interesting to see what that actually is.
  18. That would make sense. I have it muted and only check it occasionally.
  19. Usually it's blocked, but I'm getting their video through the trade tracker page. A bit of a surprise there.
  20. So I assume that Carolina is at the contract limit and needed to clear space.
  21. It's only one comment, but I like the head on his shoulders after reading that one.
  22. There's nowhere else to put this. Maxim Afinogenov is currently in the top 10 searches of the last 5 minutes on hockey database. I always wonder what causes little oddities like this.
