  1. Past hour
  2. I don't think you can. That is as clear cut as it gets to me. And since we're talking about Boston potentially losing, I am the last person to want to admit that kind of thing.
  3. And Boston scored a minute later to force Game 5. What struck me was the willingness of the official to turn over a goal while Minnesota thought they won the title. And while contact with the goalie was fairly obvious you could argue the player was tripped into that contact. I've just never seen a call like that on a goal that won a title on home ice.
  4. You didn't finish the video, I take it. The goal was disallowed for interference.
  5. Saw the All Starr Band in Canandaigua two years ago with my youngest daughter. It's such a fun show. Ringo is 83! I remember seeing him at 81 and thinking it would be great to be that capable and healthy as he was then, when I reach that age. He had one minor 'senior moment' but made light of it and just kept on going. His band was so great. Edgar Winter is amazingly talented.
  6. Next concert up for me is this coming Saturday. It's a bucket list item; the Grand Ol Opry in Nashville. They announce the acts as you get closer to the date. So far, 5 of the 8 or 9 we'll see have been announced. One of the announced acts is Loretta Lynn's granddaughter who was just on American Idol (I didn't see it) and another is golden oldie Crytal Gayle who is Loretta's sister, so I would guess they do a song or two together. If anyone has any Opry stories or insights I'd be happy to hear them.
  7. I believe it'll be Punch's last hire of a coach for the organization
  8. Today
  9. Let's have all ex Sabres running this for us... What could go wrong?
  10. Smith grew up in Galt, Ontario, playing junior hockey with the Galt Black Hawks. He made his National Hockey League debut for the Boston Bruins, playing 3 games with the team in 1955, but he was mostly mired in the minors during the early portion of his career. He played 23 games with Boston over the next two seasons, while serving as a significant contributor[citation needed] on the Hershey Bears club. Smith then spent five years with the New York Rangers organization, reaching the NHL for a 29-game stint in 1961. During this period, he was a dominant force with the Springfield Indians, scoring 82 points in 71 games in 1960.[2] In 1963, Smith finally earned a chance to become an NHL regular after being acquired by the Detroit Red Wings. He scored an NHL career-high 49 points during the 1965–66 season. He was part of a six-player blockbuster transaction in which he was traded along with Norm Ullman and Paul Henderson from the Red Wings to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Frank Mahovlich, Pete Stemkowski and Garry Unger on March 4, 1968. The Maple Leafs and Red Wings were in fifth and sixth place respectively at the bottom of the East Division standings at the time of the deal.[3] He was selected by the Buffalo Sabres during the 1970 expansion draft and served as the team's first captain.[4] Smith became an assistant coach with the Sabres in 1972. The next year, he was hired as head coach of the team's top farm club, the AHL's Cincinnati Swords. He won a Calder Cup in the first of his two years with the team. In 1974, he became Buffalo's head coach, leading the team to a loss in the Stanley Cup Finals in his first year. However, the Sabres were eliminated in the second round the next two years, and he was fired at the end of the 1976-77 season. He also coached the World Hockey Association's Cincinnati Stingers for the 1976–77 season and was Toronto Maple Leafs coach for the first 68 games of 1979–80 until being injured in a car accident on March 14, 1980, rendering him unable to fulfill his duties as coach for the remainder of the season. He remained with the Leafs as a scout until being promoted to general manager, a position he held for the 1989–90 and 1990–91 seasons.[1] Smith resides in southern Erie County, New York.[5] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floyd_Smith
  11. Unless the PWHL has a different interpretation of interference; how this goal counted is beyond explanation
  12. Headline: Charting a course for another eventful offseason (I realize the writers don't write the headlines, as far as I know.)
  13. The Sabres will probably hire someone with no NHL coaching experience, have another great regular season then flame out in the playoffs again.
  14. I don't know if anyone has been watching the PWHL final. (It's free on You tube.) But game 4 had the most insane ending. If you don't want to see the entire highlight reel, scroll to to 7:24 and start there.
  15. He just covered an old Cream song (Crossroads) with Slash and it’s exceptional.
  16. IF the team does well the next 2 years, expect that Adams becomes the PoHO, one of his 2 primary AGM's moves up (probably Nightengale), and Ruff moves into an advisory role to Adams if he's ready to stop coaching. And if Ruff wants to continue coaching for a year or 2, that advisory role remains open waiting for him to fill when he's ready. (Personally expect he'll be ready to move out of the grind in 2 years, but who knows, while Lindy tends to be adaptable to circumstances he also can have a stubborn streak.) IF the team does poorly / treads water the next 2 years, expect that Adams is out, there's a new GM that Ruff has input in choosing if not outright choosing, and Ruff becomes the PoHO.
  17. I love Rick Dudley but he’s 75 years old. Also, not to be a Debbie downer, but there is a real possibility that Sabres’ “interest” in Waddell was leaked in order to expedite and sweeten Columbus’ offer.
  18. Pretty much done deal on Waddell to Columbus. Im just intrigued if Buffalo really looked at him because that tells me they are serious about bringing some senior hockey minds into the organization. my number one choice is Dudley but I’ll be interested to hear if they are talking to anyone about a senior advisor role. Maybe they have figured out that when you hire a GM with no experience it would probably help to have a solid vet hockey man to help guide him a bit.
  19. No camp fires allowed here now, so I will keep this tid-bit in my back pocket and put away the blow torch.
  20. I'm not @Taro T, but sometimes I play one on TV ... my answer is YES !!
  21. Another OT Rangers win.. SDS did Y'all a favor by shutting this place down, I've since become less annoyed by the win. Good hockey though for sure! Unlike that western conference atrocity 😉
  22. I understand your fear 😆 Still early in both series. Let them play out.
  23. Good tournament with some upsets. And the host nation winning…. Icing.
