Expos v. Giants at Olympic Stadium, for me. I was 15, and my family decided to take a four-day trip to Montreal by train. It was my first train trip and led to a life-long love of train travel. But CN went on strike while we were in Montreal, so my dad had to rent a car so we could get home. He let me drive part of the way over my mother's objection so I could get some practice in before turning 16 the following month.

I'm annoyed that we're playing a team who already has opening night jitters off the table. The Rangers lost to the Pens 3-0 opening night, (2 empty netters), so I think they're going to come out with a chip on their shoulder, ready to go. I can already hear Ruff's excuse of "we were still getting our legs under us while they were in game shape from the get go. We got down in a 3-0 hole and couldn't recover (5-2 loss after an empty netter)" Anyways, Go Sabres!

Kesselring & Doan for JJP - we shall see, it could be a good trade. Lyons - I can hope Danforth/Timmins - ok, this could be improving the edges Ellis - I can wish for Binnington II, but I will take solid and steady. If he is good he could be a blocker to Levi, and yet Adams made the move, or maybe Jarmo made the move?

I fear the recent barrage of optimistic analytic models have gotten through to me. Sucks to see the biggest offseason addition out for game 1, but here’s to hoping they let the optimism live on. Go Sabres!

My point was that this is a highly competitive league and most teams make moves to improve year over year. Montreal and Ottawa got in last year. Washington had a big rebound year. I look at Boston, they missed the playoffs and wrote their fans a letter saying they were just as disappointed and they were still committed to winning - they have a big rebuild ahead. I look at St Louis, they missed the playoffs and replaced their coach mid season and somehow snuck into the playoffs and almost won the first round. The Buffalo Sabres? We are going to see if their moves improved the team, its a long season.

Dear Paul Hamilton, Zach Benson didn't put up 28pts while being a 1st line winger. He was bounced around all last year by Ruff. Benson to Rochester to gain confidence or whatever misses the point of who Benson is. Kids confident.
