  3. Did he really say this? He truly is a buffoon.
  4. Defying federal judges - if you're referring to Broberg, his ruling was vacated by the SC. Deploying military in the streets - if you're talking about LA, ICE agents were under attack, Bass wouldn't allow police to assist in a timely manner, Newsome refused to send in the guard. That wasn't a peaceful protest, that was rioting and looting. Trump did the right thing sending in the troops to quell the riots when Newsome refused to do it. Was it legal? I have idea, but I support his decision. BLS director - i agree with you, it looks shady. They say in the article that quarterly reports will be used until they implement a system that will give accurate data in a more timely manner than go back to the monthly reports, we'll see.
  5. Goaltending. Had the sabers got ten the gold tenny from 2 years ago Last year they would have been in the playoffs. If I have to pick something besides goaltending... Second would be no major injuries, and third would be luck. But after last year I can't say anything else other than goaltending.
  6. Texas senate passed the redistricting maps. The house will pass it as soon as they get enough bodies for a quarum. I thought it HAD to go through the house first? Guess not. It'll be interesting to see if Newsome/Hochul follow through with their threats to retaliate in kind. For those that live in New York, are there seats to be gained? I thought New York was already deep blue. https://www.texastribune.org/2025/08/11/texas-redistricting-map-vote-senate/
  7. From defying federal judges to deploying military in the streets to replace local police, this administration shows example after example of fascist ideology. Now Trump’s BLS director seems to favor doing away with the critical monthly jobs report. Withholding, distorting, or creating false information is right out of the fascist playbook. https://www.politico.com/news/2025/08/12/trump-bls-jobs-report-00505025
  8. You literally have a team known for identifying culture fits and sniffing out bad habits trying to dump him and you want in to that again? casey for Byram is one of the biggest trade wins in a long time. One is clearly serviceable, the other is being cast off from big team to big team after they actually get to test drive him. People like to crap on KA, but this is a huge move. And you want to undo it????
  9. I think the league only steps in if there's bankruptcy issues which there isn't. From their perspective a rich owner is a rich owner and the league value of teams keeps rising so they really don't care. The NFL doesn't take over the Jets right? They should, but they don't and they won't. I think our only hope is he either has health issues with old age and decides to retire or he just gets fed up and gives it over to his kids who hire a director of hockey operations and let him run it while they just enjoy their luxury suite and other ownership perks. We have to face the reality that this is Pegula's toy and he's basically like a fantasy team GM but sadly for us he is the de facto GM and he never wins the office pool.
  10. How so? I advocated much more change and wanted more veterans brought in but they didn't do it. I'm just looking at options that might be available still. Trying to be a realist given what we are dealing with from them. If Mitts is available and Bruins would deal him for picks, we have picks, we have cap room to pay his salary and we add a body to the roster so we get a little better. If Bruins want roster players I'm likely not interested.
  11. Beefing him up would have been something the Sabres should have been doing with him early on too. This is part of the whole rushing the prospects problem. Sure, they have skill, but most of them aren't men yet and they get pushed around (or KO'd like Hathaway did to Cozens) and it messes with their heads and their game. We've made the same mistake with Quinn. Anyway, he's Ottawa's problem now. We have to find a way to keep Norris healthy and I have my doubts on that happening.
  12. If Benson puts up 45pts this year, that was a good year for him. That would be where I put his point total over under 44.5o/u
  13. And what to do with Norris? Give him a blonde dye and bowl cut, then grow a mustache, then dye his hair brown and let it get a bit scruffy, and finally grow a full beard. Clad him in denim. Then, unleash him... .. ...on unsuspecting 8-sided shapes, plane hijackers, and under-financed invading armies primarily targeting school buses. And steel yourselves for a whole bunch of Braddock: Missing in Action references this season.

  16. This entire thread is embarrassing. Seriously, I just have no idea what else to say.
  17. I think you're right PA. These really are the dog days of hockey.
  18. Offer up 🙏 that he stays healthy.
  19. 1, Goal Levi or UPL 2. Power does he emerge as a dominate 2 pairing with Kesslring 3. Jack Quinn.... does he fill the JJP role
  20. One you could be equally as likely to use to lop off your own arse as you are to lop off your opponent's arse? 🤷‍♂️
  21. What's a "two way sword"?
  22. Every world class fight need an undercard. Right? Why not have both? 😉
  23. I fear JohnC is right, is that is what it will take internally, but I am with you, I just dont believe that will happen... the league took over once... I dont think they will do it again, they would likely force a move before that... I will be interested if we again flounder to another playoffless season... what will the attendance be like will it look like NBA arenas pre Bird and Magic... or like the Altanta Thrashers or Cleveland Barrons... will it be acrimonious, home team getting booed every night... Palm trees.. Fire Adams, Sell the team Terry signs all over the place, players wanting out demanding trades... if it does and it might... there is likely gonna be pressure... and there we sit.
  24. This is an article about good and bad contracts and it analyzes Norris's contract https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6537414/2025/08/07/nhl-cap-court-pettersson-saros-chychrun/ Josh Norris, Buffalo Sabres The details: Josh Norris is 26 and entering the fourth year of an eight-year deal he originally signed with the Senators in 2022, which carries a $7.95 million cap hit through 2030. The Sabres acquired him in a deal for Dylan Cozens at least year’s deadline which was not especially well-received. The case that it’s a bad contract: Norris carries the highest cap hit of any Sabres forward, but is coming off consecutive seasons that saw his point total stuck in the 30s while his games played was in the 50s. Injuries have been a big part of his story, including missing all but eight games in 2022-23. He’s basically had one decent season in the NHL (a 35-goal, 55-point sophomore campaign in 2021-22) and has been both paid and hyped based on that single year. But three seasons and one team later, that year feels like an outlier for a disappointing player. The case that it might be OK: Injuries are a two-way sword with this sort of debate. Yes, he has to stay healthy to earn his cap hit, and he hasn’t been able to. But that’s also why his numbers have been lackluster, and if he can get back to full health another 30-goal season seems realistic. He’s not a play-driver, but with a career shooting percentage of 18.1 (including two seasons north of 20), we can at least say that he has the potential to be an elite finisher, which is a hard skill to find in a center. And his teammates in Ottawa loved him. It’s also worth noting Norris does not have any trade protection until next summer, and only a 10-team no-trade list after that, which gives the Sabres some flexibility if they need to reconsider the commitment. And he’ll be 31 when this deal expires, so unlike almost everyone else who shows up in Cap Court, the team isn’t on the hook for a bunch of write-off years at the end. Key comparables: Norris slots in with similarly aged centers like Jack Hughes ($8 million) and Nick Suzuki ($7.85 million); that’s not exactly flattering, but those are also two contracts that are often viewed as solid bargains for their respective teams. Other comparisons would include the Blues duo of Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou, both at $8.125 million. And of course, Norris will be forever linked with Dylan Cozens, whose deal has the same number of years left but carries a cheaper $7.1 million hit. The ruling: Putting aside who won or lost the trade, this contract feels like a risky bet for the Sabres, even as you can understand why they may have felt like they needed to make it. For now I’m ruling it a bad contract, but Norris will have a fast track to an appeal hearing if he can stay healthy enough to produce a big goal-scoring year.
