  1. Past hour
  2. It would be interesting to know the answer to your question. Keep in mind that Terry and Kim gutted the PSE and Sabres staff across the board back in COVID, including many long time employees. They have rebuilt some of the Hockey FO since then, but the EEE policies put in that drove Botts out have really hurt the product on the ice and the teams' perception throughout the NHL.
  3. Well somebody (one of the main hockey talking heads like Seravelli or Friedman or somebody like that but I forget which) said a few years back that Buffalo was becoming a farm team for the league and it's pretty much true. The sad thing is getting out of it would be extremely difficult and would require Pegula to give up, stop being de facto GM, and get a good hockey GM in place to tear it down one last time and rebuild it properly. Maybe nobody wants to admit that but how else do you do it? If for example Dahlin wants out after this season what other choice do you have? If you just move him for 4 firsts or whatever it just continues and gets worse and proves the statement true. This is the bad time line. In the good time line Rick Dudley is Senior Advisor and Pat LaFontaine is President of the 3 time Stanley Cup Champion Sabres. Pegula sails the Caribbean and relaxes with his trophies and rings.
  4. Goddam poison ivy man. First time and I don't think I ever want to go in the woods again. Savage plant.
  5. With age comes increased strength. Hoping the strength, and age, and experience, and confidence breeds some physical edge to him. If he never, ever, will play with more physical presence then I would move him. But he is 22 and we don't know yet. Dahlin provides more offense and is physical and tough. Byram provides just as much offense and is more physical than Power.
  6. Yes there are times where we have to trust people that we don’t know but that is 100% not the case in the scenario discussed. I agree the environment you are in impacts how you respond. If it’s a town hall meeting I’d engage with a stranger on whatever topic. A random car not from my neighborhood sitting in the dark across the street with a bunch of people in it, no. I will observe and if absolutely necessary I will interact. I’m not going up to their car and knocking on the window to say hi. Your scenario about the girl walking and not paying attention? Yes, she is naive. Same for a man. Purposely being aloof just doesn’t make sense to me. Not locking doors at night seems pretty stupid because it’s such a simple thing to do that offers a measure of physical security and peace of mind. Crime doesn’t happen to you until it does then it’s too late for could’ve, would’ve, should’ve. Fear and paranoia are not the same as maintaining awareness and being responsible for your own safety. IMO you guys are conflating those concepts. Being a shut in because you’re afraid something could happen is being paranoid. Observing and assessing your surroundings and situations seems to make sense given the world we live in.
  7. So time to tank right? lol I guess we add 4 wonky D men to the list of injury excuses. We shall see who is ready on opening night. I did have a laugh today that the only guy in Bruins camp that has a minor injury that might keep him out is Casey Mittelstadt. Clearly, there's something in Buffalo water that weakens muscle tissue or decreases bone density 🙂
  8. We got Tage in a trade.
  9. Because it should be easier for us to compete A salary cap encourages parity If it falls flat, it’s because it’s an insult to the Pirates lol
  10. It's hard to put much faith in our scouting crew. Levi has had a slower development than i think was expected with him starting 7 games at age 21 right after a season in college. At the same token - he was traded in 2021 after a stellar juniors tournament, but prior to him playing at northeastern. I feel like since that tournament, he's played pretty well at every level other than at the NHL level last season. I think the goal is usually about 100 professional games prior to playing in the NHL, and he went straight there. Now after 2 full seasons in the AHL where he's looked at the very least - good for AHL which projects to at least "fine" in the NHL, he's just about at that number.
  11. Today
  12. Well then, I'll go ahead and delete this one then...😁
  13. Jackson Lacombe gets 8yrs x 9mil
  14. As a Pirates and Sabres fan, sorry, but they don’t compare. Bob Nutting has never promised to win or tried to field a competitive roster. Pirates fans know this. We all know Paul Skenes is going to pay for Nutting’s next yacht. The organization doesn’t even pretend. So why should we? That’s the difference: the Sabres under Pegula superficially pretend to be a real sports franchise and try to present as such to fans. That’s actually worse.
  15. And what a ride it has been since. We are so lucky to have JA17 and be the owner of the AFC East. 🦬
  16. especially when he is not even asking for the bag... heck, you pay Jordan Greenway 4mm for a half a season...
  17. Paul “watch your language” Hamilton has never broken a story in his life. He’s well liked by his coworkers, but ill equipped to be a source for breaking news and does not have a voice for radio. He’s a shining example of being first rather than best, and accepted just as that. Nice guy, bad at his job, warm body at the harbor center just in case a live mic is needed. I’m not on twitter, but he would block me if I were. WGR at its finest.
  18. Hey, blow off all the steam you want…but you cannot compare a salary cap league to a sport with no cap. Not to mention the Sabres were able to sign the grow your own like Dahlin, Tage, Cozens=Norris, Power, etc. I’m just as sad and frustrated as anyone, but this comparison falls flat.
  19. No MAGA reaction to Trump’s brilliant idea to have American cities serve as “training grounds” for the military? What could go wrong? Especially when you’re at war with “the enemy within?” That might be his singular most ridiculous idea ever. And that is saying something. Oh, and why can’t you have fat officers when the Commander in Chief himself is the very picture of obesity?
  20. Inertia. Buffalo radio is full of it.
  21. Fantastic thread. Thank you!
  22. And then 6 years later he’s dead. It really does make you wonder if he was mentally in the right place during his short stay in Buffalo.
  23. To be blunt, I don’t think you understand. I was supporting your point, not debating it.
  24. I do wonder if some of the reliance upon rush scoring was causing defensive lapses and bad turnovers. I feel like some of the problems in the offensive zone caused lots of issues defensively too. We were bad against the rush of opponents.
  25. I always felt bad for Pirate fans when their homegrown stars would always leave for greener pastures when they became free agents. Unless they drafted perfectly, they never really had a chance because the top FAs would never go there to replace the departed. Now I know exactly how those fans feel. They don't have hope because they know it's impossible to compete for anything other than maybe a miraculous playoff spot once in a blue moon. Buffalo may be in an even worse position because of the reputation of the organization. There is a stench that other players and management talk about when discussing the Sabres. Some fans talk about hope, but come on, there is no end in sight. You see a team like Vegas land the top free agent in Marner, and the gap just gets wider and wider. Anyway, how about this freaking weather?! Go Bills!
