Ok, i HATE the trade, but love what we got back. IMHO we did not get enough, unless Kesserling turns into that solid top 4 physical defensive dman (Which is well in his wheelhouse) and Doan turns into a solid insane forchecking 3rd liner. IF JJ stays where he currently is at and Doan and Kesserling are what we hope then the trade is good. If not, then we just got screwed!!! Either way, we got more physical and harder to play against and gave up a 30 goal scorer that does not know the word defense.

Defenders of interest, who could bolster the defense

Here is something to make everyone feel better. Kesslering is an RFA after next season. So who is he getting trade for at the deadline so that KA can keep Samuelsson and not pay the new comer?   Bo Byram/Mitts trade 2.0 with the same future results. To make matters worse he has given every young player who is “unhappy” a way out of town. This franchise is just about dead. By the way no one is going to “like” Doan. He isn’t his Dad. He is at best a bottom 6 forward who has shown no ability to score goals. At least he’s young and cheap. The only person thrilled with this trade is Quinn. He now gets a chance to prove he can play in a top 6 role. When he plays well, Adams will trade him too. Very exciting times in Sabreland.

Thoughts: -After all the reports of interest in Peterka, the return is disappointing. Makes me wonder if other GMs thought it would have taken them less -Count me skeptical on Kesselring. I’m not of the belief that D are as plug and play as F, and he’s probably coming in to a less disciplined team defensively -On the flip side, it wouldn’t surprise me if Doan plays a larger role here. People will like him -As long as Kevyn Adams is making the decisions, I will not have confidence in the Sabres being successful -There’s a general turning on Terry over the last 2-3 months coming from the Athletic and their writers. It’s interesting. Much of what I see now are things people have been saying even before EEE was implemented. -We’ve got more cap space to make a big move in FA this summer. Kesselring+Doan+Marner (7x14) for Peterka is great for us.

In Rochester. This sets a horrible precedence - seems all you need to do to get out Buffalo is demand a trade. How long until tage and Dahlin demand out? Btw, Utah has a state tax but I’m told they may have palm trees?? Adams is a joke. He better have a plans to sign a UFA top 6 forward with the money he just saved. He better also resign Byrum to play with Dahlin. Byrums analytics with Dahlin are quite good and pairing Dahlin with the oft-injured p*ssy samuelson on the first line is unacceptable

While I really like Peterka... I have watched a lot of late night hockey because of my job, including Utah... Kesselri(n)g ... keep wanting to call him Kesselrig because that is the way he plays... pretty good passer and nice point shot... Doan is young but tough and has skill too... not sure if that equals Peterka but fans should like the efforts of these two. PS for those that dont know he is Shane Doan's kid

Our teams problem has been defense and in every way this made our defense better. And bigger. And tougher. Sucks that Muel didn’t live up to his hype, but this is addressing exactly that. Peterka was just another finisher at the end of the day, a good finisher, but he ain’t a star and we have finishers on our team and pipeline.
