  1. Past hour
  2. He was the first sports talk-radio host I would listen to on WGR. I didn't listen often, and I'm not sure if he only said this once or twice, but I still hear him in my head saying "Ottawa-Ottawa-Ottawa-Ottawa" when someone brings up the Senators.
  3. So the short blunt version would be - D has sucked for years in Buffalo.
  4. It was for sure. I don't know if he was ever asked about it later (when he might have been honest) but I have to think he had some information that made him think he could get the guy out. False information obviously, but he must have been going on something at the time. Speaking of Tretiak, it's not "communist" any more obviously but rumor has it that Clarke's friendship with Tretiak is why Philly got Michkov out and no other team actually had the same shot. Not substantiated, but Clarke and Tretiak being good friends is true so it seems quite possible.
  5. Thanks for posting. I was going to as well. Really drove home the point that what goes on on front of the goalie matters as much as the goalie. The Eric Comrie story was telling. Let's hope the Sabres defensive moves fix this issue.
  6. Today
  7. Can we shoot for Sept 3rd for draft night? Also, I propose 90 seconds per pick. We did 60 last year and the draft was less than an hour…I didn’t even finish my first drink by the end of it. Just a thought.
  8. As I mentioned in the complaint thread tonight, I have a bat in my house as we speak. Put up the bat signal for Jim Lorentz to come over. We can make it right tonight!
  9. I lived in Rochester and was too young to know his story or his work, but I do know “Artie Baby Boo-Boo.” I can hear it in my head. Rest in peace.
  10. I have a bat in the house 🤬 I’m up at the family cottage and the place has 24 foot high ceilings. The mud and tape at the seam of the ceiling has come loose and this thing (we’ve named him Swoop) is currently wedged where the seam got loose. This thing was flying around the living room an hour ago. I guess I’m going to leave the screen doors open and hope he finds his way out before I wake up tomorrow 🦇
  11. I hope the link below works. It is to a recent Instigators podcast (Sabre fan podcast). The guest is Kevin Woodley of InGoal magazine and NHL.com. He breaks down the goalie situation in Buffalo. Woodley gets his advanced stats from Clear Sight Analytics. I believe the host is Chris Ostrander, who I think does a fine job. https://t.co/Rc1b9zrLa7 I highly recommend listening to anyone interested in understanding the impact of environment on goaltenders. To summarize, Woodley explains why the environment in Buffalo has been terrible for goalies. Last season the Sabres finished in the bottom 1/3 in pretty much all defensive areas that impact scoring chances. Further, they were 30th in the NHL in the critical area of preventing cross-ice scoring chances. Woodley references what he believes is the cumulative impact on a goaltender that comes from playing in that environment. A goalie who is being leaned on to start at a 65 game pace (UPL last year), playing in such an environment is likely to have it negatively impact his performance. A goalie can't trust what is happening in front of him and starts to cheat on cross-ice passes, which leads to disaster. Woodley has some good anecdotes on Lehner and Comrie that illustrate how the environment has been an issue in Buffalo for many years. He also explains why it has little to do with how talented your defensemen are, and everything to do with system and structure, starting with the forwards. As well, Woodley provides interesting stuff on Dustin Wolf's game and how Levi might (or might not) benefit from implementing some changes that Wolf made. And there is a brief discussion on how the Sabres might manage Ratzaff and Leinonen this season; playing in the ECHL can be a very chaotic environment for young goalies who are often sent there without the necessary coaching support (and he is clear that he thinks highly of Sabre development coach Seamus Kotyk and that he is certain Kotyk has a plan to address this). Again, a good listen for the dog days of the off-season.
  12. They are, $35, not sure on shipping. Probably terrible quality but it's the message that counts. https://derekryanlawrence.com/product/buffalo-sabres-palm-coast-personalized-name-hawaiian-shirt-derekryanlawrence-com/?_gl=1*tiv7aj*_up*MQ..*_gs*MQ..&gclid=CjwKCAjwkvbEBhApEiwAKUz6-yersfiFIiObLc2LqptVhIdrKIJkzf2kEePCsbvx9n3iRWZRXQCbpRoCsY8QAvD_BwE&gbraid=0AAAABAtTlvU6Zz_rcFF0GNqVD3zPlY7e_ Good call, the first thought I had was Taxes.
  13. Not the same shirt @Indabuff found, but pretty cool. https://powerwy.com/products/buffalo-sabres-nhl-team-colors-tropical-palm-trees-and-team-logo-3d-hawaiian-shirt?utm_campaign=BSP.powerwy.com.Hawaii&utm_source=BSP.powerwy.com.Hawaii&utm_content=BSP.powerwy.com.Hawaii&msclkid=f64094e7c3d91f2f4926fc79bbc09cf5 Disclaimer. Have no idea whether this site is any good or not. But they must've paid the most to have Buffalo Sabres Palm Tree Shirts pull up their name in a search. Haven't bought one; but am tempted. Maybe that could be the theme for this year's Meet Up.
  14. One link and bye bye money... assuming they are not egregiously priced.
  15. Probably. Did a quick internet search on Buffalo Sabres Palm Tree Shirts and didn't see those particular ones right off; but did see some other cool ones. So, am guessing those are real. And they're spectacular.
  16. Yesterday
  17. Are those really for sale? Because I would buy one.
  18. RG&E (Rochester Gas & Electric) has had a $25 service fee for years. I first learned about when I looked at solar panels and the rep told me about it. That said, I don't know that it's criminal. If you don't want to pay it you can disconnect and be totally off the grid. Otherwise they are obligated to service your meter, etc. and that's not free.
  19. Mexico extradited 26 more cartel members to America for prosecution. https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/mexico-under-pressure-trump-transfers-26-more-cartel-members-us-2025-08-12/
  20. SDGE (San Diego Gas and Electric) is now charging a monthly base service fee. "This fall, your SDG&E® bill will show electric delivery charges in a new way. This is not an extra charge, rather it is a change in how your bill is structured. California Assembly Bill 205 requires investor-owned electric utilities across the state to change how residential customers are billed to help make bills more transparent, while making it more affordable to use electric technologies, such as cars and appliances. We’re updating how some existing costs appear on your bill. Starting soon, you’ll see a new line item called the Base Services Charge, which will be approximately $24 per month. By moving some costs out of delivery pricing, you may pay about 10% less per kWh for the energy you use (roughly 5 cents per kWh on electric delivery). As a solar customer on a Net Energy Metering (NEM) plan, you will continue to receive a monthly statement. You can choose to pay the Base Services Charge each month or wait until your annual true-up. Please note, the Base Services Charge is not eligible to be offset by applied generation credits." I own my panels. The first few years I received a check from SDGE as I'm pumping more back into the grid than I consume. Next was implementation of tiered pricing (off-peak, super off-peak, peak... kWh cost varies depending on the hour of the day, time of year, etc), which turned my yearly true-up refund into to a charge of $100-200. Now this. Criminal for what is supposed to be a "utility" to scheme against solar customers just to make a buck.
  21. I’m amazed how quickly I just ran through every word in his theme song in my mind right now.
  22. In that video, their doctor apparently reports that he's 100% comfortable with him, no issues. He plays 3 games then misses the rest of the season w/ injury? Should that be concerning?
