  1. Past hour
  2. Theoretically, you are correct that some deals have multiple components with multiple teams to get a deal done, usually a big deal. That's not how KA operates. And another real problem that the Sabres have in fashioning a major deal like you describe is that too many good players have NTC in their contracts that make it even more challenging to make a deal. KA is a meat and potato GM who plays a simple game. The bottom line is that pigmies don't play in the NB and checker players don't play in major chess tournaments. Unlikely to happen, especially as the offseason winds down.
  3. Maybe he did but he’s not a whiney bitch?
  4. A few things. 1) This isn't happening. All of the Flames players noted have trade protection. It’s not likely they will be dealt to the Sabres if at all. Also, even if the Flame players were available, my guess is that Adams sees Kulich as near to untouchable. 2) Long term the trade is probably bad. While none of Byram, Kulich, or Quinn are sure things to be high-level NHL players 5 years from now, it can safely be said that Kadri, Coleman, and Andersson won’t be. So, the questions would be: Does the trade push the Sabres to being a playoff level team? And, if so, how important is it to end this horrid streak? From my perspective, it would make our roster playoff level. Kadri is better than Kulich and Coleman is better than Quinn. Andersson is not better than Byram, but we would need a replacement for Byram and Andersson would certainly be capable of riding shotgun with Dahlin for a year. Bigger picture, the trade would alter the make-up of the team and I think add much needed experience, physicality, and attitude. I think the addition of these players would make existing players better. Finally, I think ending the streak is critical and that putting it behind the franchise would do more for the future than the players given up would do. That said, how certain am I that it would be successful? Not very. And, would I have the courage to make the trade if I was the GM? Probably not.
  5. Getting upset upset over feelings. Why isn't Byram forcing a trade ala Peterka now if he wants out so bad?
  6. I haven’t read the while thread but I see the whole not “spending to the cap” stuff is being discussed again. While this obviously has happened the last few years, they are likely to end up within $2M - $3M this year.
  7. Couldn't Terry sell stakes in the Sabres and pick up a couple hundred mil? There are arena updates on the horizon too.
  8. Other than the needs in the top 6 vs. LHD - is he more or less valuable a year from now? If the offers were bad, hold ur cards until the deadline or next offseason, or next deadline.
  9. That could happen. But look at the last few trades that included picks. Montreal had to give up two mid round fists and Emil Heineman to get a signed Noah Dobson.
  10. Not that I am aware. With an offer sheet you have to keep the player for 1 year before trading if you match but arbitration has no requirement I know of.
  11. He sold a 20% stake in the Bills to get a Billion in cash for stadium over-runs. At some point in the past they had to cut Sabres costs to maintain the family lifestyle, we've literally never recovered from that in 2020.
  12. Assuming the Sabres don’t move Byram prior to the arbitration hearing, can anyone confirm that when a player who goes through arbitration, he is ineligible to be traded for twelve months? I read that, but don’t know that it is true. If true, is it the new league year (July 1) date or arbitration date? If the Sabres electing for arbitration impacts their ability to trade Byram, I don’t get why they elected for it. I’m good with Byram being on the team next year, but I don’t like how they potentially limited their options with him. But I could be wrong and would happily learn that.
  13. So Trump is a PEDO, they are trying to say that there is no Epstein client list not too long after Pam Bondi herself said she had the Epstein list on her desk. Also Alina Habba said "They have flight logs, information, names... that will come out." Trump is a full blown pedophile there is no denying it anymore after this. He needs to be taken out of office ASAP. Disgusting to see people support someone who molested children. Anyone that still supports Trump is a PEDO supporter. Trump was in charge when Epsteins cameras magically turned off long enough for him to kill himself.
  14. I don't get this theory that Terry is cash poor. The Sabres are a small part of his portfolio, and they are worth $1.15B. So, IF he is experiencing liquidity issues that are crippling the Sabres, he could easily get a loan with extremely favorable terms (years and interest rates) for, say, $50M against the Sabres valuation to cover any shortfalls in cap, scouting, or fired-coach spending. I'm not saying that Pegula has loans like this, but rather that the immense worth of his portfolio gives him plenty of opportunities to avoid being cash poor. The Sabres aren't spending to the cap because they have a GM who has no idea how to spend to the cap, not because they are cash poor.
  15. I feel a sign and deal trade coming. 🙂 See Marner. The Sabres can re-sign him for 8 years and then trade him. If traded before he re-signing, the new team can only give him a 7 year deal.
  16. Here's to hoping that we get a year's worth of motivated play cuz he's playing for his next contract.
  17. Unlike Peterka, don't believe that Byram really really wants out of Buffalo. IF they'd meet his contract request, expect he'd be fine staying. Give him $9MM x 8 years and he'd sign. Don't forget, he's had concussion issues in Colorado; he could be 1 hit away from not getting another contract after this one. And, agree, all things being equal, Byram wants to be THE man on a team's backend. Thing is, in order to get that opportunity, he needs to go to a team that has a bad D corps. Personally believe he's a #2, so to be a team's #1 he needs to be on a team without one or a high end 2. And maybe he becomes a 1, but he isn't there yet and may never be. From having seen him speak to the fans a couple of times, he seems to be a fairly happy go lucky guy. So, maybe he won't hate being in Buffalo should he get in writing from the team a listing of everything they see wrong with his game and all the reasons he shouldn't be paid what he's hoping for; that, coupled with knowing the team is ok with trading him for the right deal could create a severely toxic environment for someone that isn't capable of seeing the bright side of events/life.
  18. It just feels 90% likely that Byram will take the 1-year deal and start counting the days until he can force a trade next summer. Great job, KA!
  19. With Byram I think it’s about getting paid. We talk about him wanting the opportunity of being on a top PP, but not about the reason why he wants to be on a top PP: defencemen need points to get paid and they don’t get points away from power play. Switch Byram out for Evan Bouchard the past few years and tell me which one is likelier to be making $10M
  20. Apparently not old enough to know how to spell his name though 🙂 Perreault was special there's no question about it. He was part of why I became a Sabres fan and he had the skill to be the best ever but I will say I think he lacked the work ethic and desire to be that guy. He did have a tendency to just rest on his talent and not try to be better and better and win it all. Even a little lazy at times. If he had had Howe's toughness and work ethic he would most definitely have been the greatest ever. I usually rank it: 1. Orr 2. Howe 3. Gretzky 4. Perreault 5. Lemieux but it's hard to compare eras and positions.
  21. Today
  22. so many Sabres just want to get out any way they can
  23. I think you can actually get extra value. Say you get a first, a second and a prospect for Byram (which feels about right to me). You flip that first and second and maybe a lower pick of your own for a forward you still have that prospect. Or maybe a lower level roster player. These are all hypotheticals but this sort of deal does happen all the time.
