The Hopium Den: 10 reasons why the Sabres could be better this year
CallawaySabres replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
He also said the we are in a world of trouble with goaltending and it doesn’t matter how good your defense is with a goalie situation like ours. -
I don't know how much the comparables will matter...but Kyle Connor: Younger than Tuch, less career injury history, about 100 more career goals, 200 more career points, multiple 40 goal seasons, almost 50 goals in 2021-22......3 points shy of a 100 point season last year.. If he gets 12m, Tuch shouldn't get anything over 10m per year.
-
If Kyle Connor signs for the alleged 12mil x 8 years that's going around, that puts a hard cap impo on what Tuch could ask. But we shall see. At this rate, 10 x 6yrs would be exceptional and 10x 7yrs livable.

Kyle Connor is extending in Winnepeg 12 million AAV on a long term deal, reported by EF. no confirmation of years yet this should mean Tuch can’t eclipse 10 per season as Connor is a much better player

Let’s hope the stagnant lifeless product gives us television fans something to cheer for. I haven’t spent any money on this team in years. In fact I think I’ve made money off of this team selling stuff in recent years

Nope, the league doesn’t release whether multiple claims were made.

Sabres to place Alexandar Georgiev on waivers today
RochesterExpat replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
If only the team shared this attitude. We have Schroedinger’s backup. We don’t know if he’s a #2 until we open the box. That’s a fun situation for a team with a 14 year playoff drought. The worst part is it’s still an improvement over Georgiev. -
Is it crazy that I think I feel more comfortable with Lyon-Ellis right now rather than UPL-Georgiev
-
Agreed you don’t typically build systems for goalies. I think what you want to do is to limit high danger opportunities, which is good for every goalie
-
Well back in the 80’s there was no Internet forums for fans to commiserate on. The group negativity that we have here is contagious but it’s also a coping mechanism. But the regular fans here watch every game and follow them closely, even in the off season. I stopped going because I’m out of town, it cost a lot to travel and to buy hockey tickets. But the big reason is that when I go they almost never win and I’m just sick of it. They don’t win because they are a poorly run team at the top. I’m not a fan of Terry Pegula, I’m a fan of the team he bought. He is not getting any more ticket money from me until he fixes the mess he created. I’ll be a die hard fan from a safe distance.

Is there a way of looking that up?

A gif the even looks like a zombie, nice. -
It’s actually hard to imagine ever having good goaltending again. it seems like decades

Saturday’s game is also nearly a sellout. Monday afternoon’s game has tix avail, but will be well attended. Huge opportunity for the Sabres here.

The Hopium Den: 10 reasons why the Sabres could be better this year

Listening to the Travis Yost interview on WGR right now. Surprised at how high he is on Buffalo’s defensive platoon. -
As i say before every season for the last 12 years or whatever. There’s no team in the NHL that should be more desperate and hard working than the Sabres, every game. If i hear after game 1 that they were “out worked” then the entire staff should be fired immediately. That should not happen in any game.

If they were really smart, they would know that watching Sabres' hockey is the easiest way to drive people away from watching Sabres' hockey

It’s going out on a limb to assume there is a defensive system at all. Also, if the issue is ensuring our own players don’t block his sight line to the puck by playing defensively in front of our own net, I think we’re fine.

Chicago might be fortunate (and Florida might be getting even more injured) but the one thing I'm noticing is Bedard might be coming into his own now. Could be a breakout year. Knight also looks pretty good so maybe no McKenna for Chicago.
