Connor Timmins filed for arbitration; Bo Byram did not
LGR4GM replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
JBD: 144 games, 24pts, -1, 241 blocks, 122 hits, -5.9relcf%, -7.6xgf and he just turned 25 Timmins: 159 games, 46pts, +21, 167 blocks, 137 hits, 2.2relcf%, +16.5xgf and he will be 27 when the season starts Power: 242 games, 111pts, +8, 319 blocks, 99 hits, 0.5relcf%, -21.4xgf and is 22 turning 23 in November Kesselring: 156 games, 53pts, +14, 133 blocks, 205 hits, 3.6relcf%, +8.4xgf and is 25 They're certainly looking at xgf% and relative cf% when making decisions. Looking at this, I think they believe timmins has more upside than JBD did. Hard to say but none of these guys have deep NHL resumes. Outside of Power, they've basically played 2 seasons worth of games. Will be curious to see Timmins salary. -
For all of his career he has been on competitive teams that usually make the playoffs. Now that he is at the tail end of his career I doubt that he would find it appealing to join a franchise that hasn't been in the playoffs in a generation and is recognized by most people in the business to be a third-rate operation. If he has a no-trade clause in his contract I'm sure he would say absolutely not going to that junk yard.

It’s pretty much something along those lines. Both sides are very new to each other. Quite honestly, I think it’s a smart approach for a guy just acquired in a trade. They haven’t had much time to talk yet and this move establishes a very defined timeline and makes it more of a priority for both sides. It is interesting though to see how much the number of players filing for arbitration has shrunk in the last couple years. I’d imagine that the increasing cap plays a big role in that. More money is available but arbitration results are going to be based off of the older less expensive contracts. -
Chad D: expect a Byram trade at or around the draft
Wyldnwoody44 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I was just thinking this.... How bout that Chad? ... Sometimes the rumor mill gets to be just too much after the cup is won. -
I’m excited to see what happens with Byram, but I’m actually ok with Kevyn taking his time with this as long as he gets the best return as possible. Let the other teams battle it out until one finally offers the right deal.

Hard no. Age and contract are troubling. The contract remaining bothers me more than the age. This deal should be more appealing to Calgary than it is to us. We all know that you are desperate to get the Bo issue behind us. But acting as if you are desperate doesn’t enhance your trade position, it hurts it. KA is adroitly handling the situation. When you are peddling an asset you don’t treat it as a hot potato asset you need to get rid.

Or even trade him for a 7th rounder if he doesn't want to sign here -

Did Chad specify which draft he was talking about? Maybe he meant Bo will be traded at or around the 2026 NHL draft -

We feel one f short, one d short, 1 goalie short and 1 gm short. Not trying to be cute, it’s what I honestly think. if we keep Byram, than d is good, if we trade Byram it’ll depend on the return, of course -

You think he'll be Dahlin's partner? I suppose that's possible for Kesselring but I thought he'd go with Power and Samuelsson would go with Dahlin. Timmins is there if Samuelsson fails and Byram gets traded. Guess that leaves Ryan Johnson to make the roster. We feel 1 nhl D short. -

I think you are wise to point out that Kesselring isn't exactly a shutdown D; I've fallen into that trap myself as recently as a few posts up. I think he's better described as a very large, competitive, mobile late-blooming defenceman who is better than average on both sides of the puck and just coming into his own as an NHL player. Speaking strictly for myself, I noticed him without looking for him when he played: he was assertive and effective and enormous. He looked pretty physical to me, not running around looking to kill guys physical, but winning battles physical, clearing the crease physical and smartly finishing checks physical. And I think he fought 5 times last year. That aspect of his game looks nothing like Power. He covers a lot of ground and has a huge wingspan. Scouting reports from those who have watched him more often – fans and pros — seem to match my eye test, and the analytics numbers and counting stats are both solid. Not entirely part of my point, but as an aside, I'm not as sold as everyone else seems to be that he's going to be Power's partner. -

Both RHD they signed they want to play up top. Not any PO time, but hold the fort. Timmins made Karlsson look good defensively; there’s precedence Both RHD they signed they want to play up top. Not any PO time, but hold the fort. Timmins made Karlsson look good defensively; there’s precedence -

I am a biased sabres fan. All I wanted was one upgrade at F one at D and one at G to be satisfied. A real college try. Kesselring is an upgrade on the guy who’ll come out of the lineup, notably Bryson
