So Trump is a PEDO, they are trying to say that there is no Epstein client list not too long after Pam Bondi herself said she had the Epstein list on her desk. Also Alina Habba said "They have flight logs, information, names... that will come out." Trump is a full blown pedophile there is no denying it anymore after this. He needs to be taken out of office ASAP. Disgusting to see people support someone who molested children.

I don't get this theory that Terry is cash poor. The Sabres are a small part of his portfolio, and they are worth $1.15B. So, IF he is experiencing liquidity issues that are crippling the Sabres, he could easily get a loan with extremely favorable terms (years and interest rates) for, say, $50M against the Sabres valuation to cover any shortfalls in cap, scouting, or fired-coach spending. I'm not saying that Pegula has loans like this, but rather that the immense worth of his portfolio gives him plenty of opportunities to avoid being cash poor. The Sabres aren't spending to the cap because they have a GM who has no idea how to spend to the cap, not because they are cash poor.

I feel a sign and deal trade coming. 🙂 See Marner. The Sabres can re-sign him for 8 years and then trade him. If traded before he re-signing, the new team can only give him a 7 year deal.

Here's to hoping that we get a year's worth of motivated play cuz he's playing for his next contract.
-
Unlike Peterka, don't believe that Byram really really wants out of Buffalo. IF they'd meet his contract request, expect he'd be fine staying. Give him $9MM x 8 years and he'd sign. Don't forget, he's had concussion issues in Colorado; he could be 1 hit away from not getting another contract after this one. And, agree, all things being equal, Byram wants to be THE man on a team's backend. Thing is, in order to get that opportunity, he needs to go to a team that has a bad D corps. Personally believe he's a #2, so to be a team's #1 he needs to be on a team without one or a high end 2. And maybe he becomes a 1, but he isn't there yet and may never be. From having seen him speak to the fans a couple of times, he seems to be a fairly happy go lucky guy. So, maybe he won't hate being in Buffalo should he get in writing from the team a listing of everything they see wrong with his game and all the reasons he shouldn't be paid what he's hoping for; that, coupled with knowing the team is ok with trading him for the right deal could create a severely toxic environment for someone that isn't capable of seeing the bright side of events/life.

It just feels 90% likely that Byram will take the 1-year deal and start counting the days until he can force a trade next summer. Great job, KA!

With Byram I think it’s about getting paid. We talk about him wanting the opportunity of being on a top PP, but not about the reason why he wants to be on a top PP: defencemen need points to get paid and they don’t get points away from power play. Switch Byram out for Evan Bouchard the past few years and tell me which one is likelier to be making $10M

Gilbert.. Gretzky call him the best ever

Apparently not old enough to know how to spell his name though 🙂 Perreault was special there's no question about it. He was part of why I became a Sabres fan and he had the skill to be the best ever but I will say I think he lacked the work ethic and desire to be that guy. He did have a tendency to just rest on his talent and not try to be better and better and win it all. Even a little lazy at times. If he had had Howe's toughness and work ethic he would most definitely have been the greatest ever. I usually rank it: 1. Orr 2. Howe 3. Gretzky 4. Perreault 5. Lemieux but it's hard to compare eras and positions. -

I think you can actually get extra value. Say you get a first, a second and a prospect for Byram (which feels about right to me). You flip that first and second and maybe a lower pick of your own for a forward you still have that prospect. Or maybe a lower level roster player. These are all hypotheticals but this sort of deal does happen all the time. -
The offseason so far - Are the Sabres better?

Opposite tage would probably make sense as they need a lefty there. Byram and Dahlin are both pretty good shooters, and you can rotate them a bit easier. Maybe use mcleod as a net front guy with tuch in the middle. Unit 2 would be power at the top - Norris in tages spot and kulich on the other, and two of zucker/quinn/benson/maybe doan if you're looking for more net front prescence. -

It's not "trash" though. It's how deals get done. Not all teams want the same things. Let me give you a hypothetical to explain. A team like San Jose wants players because they feel they are ready to move up. They'd love a guy like Byram. What they have to offer was a cupboard full of picks and prospects. That's step 1. Then a team like Dallas was up against the cap so they might love some high end picks and prospects for one of their contracts. That's how you do it. Kevyn Adams seems incapable of seeing multiple things at the same time and how they can interact. -
Woo, a 30 year old player that has 0 NHL points. Thanks for literal nothing Adams.

I don't think that Byram wants to sign a long term deal with the Sabres because A. It's the Sabres (he's played in the Finals and probably wants to get back there) and B. He sees himself as a 1D and doesn't want to spend his career losing power play minutes to Dahlin and Power. The best thing for Byram's career is to be traded to a (good) team that sees him as a 1D. Adams is having a difficult time doing that. (Not a huge slam on Adams for that; there are legit reasons that is not happening). The second best thing for Byram is to get to UFA as soon as possible, which rules out a longer deal with the Sabres.

The sabres set their standard 5 years ago when Adams took over. No need for me to Cherry pick I screamed it from the rooftops 5 years ago, sorry if it bugs anyone, sorry for spoiling it for you in advance way back when: ”this season was never about winning anyway” That’s their standard. That’s the environment you are trying to nurture Dogs in - - - that’s the most piercing irony of this all: Adams took over on a “culture mandate”, but he was the Trojan horse for a Crest bloodletting

I’ll go so far as to call it incompetence if they don’t make a reasonable effort at using Dahlin and Byram together in the 1st unit. Our strength right now is in elite skill on defense. Feature it. That doesn’t mean we have to have both up top. One can certainly be stationed on the wall, and they both have the skillsets to make it work. And that would mean one more decent forward for the #2 unit as well. It would also mean Byram gets what he wants, and if the points come his value outside of the organization grows as well. -
Tkachuk could have not played and the panthers would have probably won. That’s two fold based on depth and also the fact the way he plays has already metastasized to their Crest Tkachuk is a symptom as much as cause. Those teammates don’t need to be dragged anymore They established the standard - they know what the panthers are fighting for: players are aware of this *when they are acquired*, long before any team Dog gets their grip in. What do new sabres acquisitions think the Crest stands for? Eichel knew what they SHOULD be fighting for, he left when he knew he couldn’t captain the ship in that way: not with the on-high mandate to save money above all else. How do you captain that? - - -

Personally, believe it is clear that the Sabres are not offering him a LT deal a the value he wants. Don't believe it is clear that Byram WON'T sign a LT deal with Buffalo, but merely, as stated he won't at what the Sabres currently are willing to spend/offer. And, yes, if he is Dahlin's partner the next 2 seasons, in 2 years he'll get at least that $9MM he's reportedly looking for at present if not even more as the cap will be significanlty higher by then.
-
Sorry, I stopped at “excellent post”.
-
I think it's clear that Byram will not sign a long term deal with the Sabres. He'll happily play out his RFA years, but at this time, he will not give any UFA years to the Sabres. And since Adams stated that he will match any offer sheet, it's doubtful that Byram would have signed one, because it could commit him to the Sabres for five more years. So instead of offering Byram $8M for the next two seasons, Adams is going to try to argue down the cost in arbitration. He has nothing to lose, beside p#ssing off Byram, who appears to be just fine driving up his UFA value playing with Dahlin the next couple of seasons. And if you're fed up with the Byram trade talk, you get a break from it until the trading deadline.
