  2. Give the guy a break. He mostly comes here to get his rocks off by unnecessarily dropping two-dollar* words. *This is the phrase (denomination) I heard growing up. Indexed for inflation, we may need to call them twenty-dollar words.
  3. Defensively stout Mattias Samuelsson?
  4. Well, you realize that they take their slogan "all the bank you'll ever need" seriously. And, though you may WANT additional conveniences such as multiple transactions within a single ATM transaction you don't NEED that. And they don't give you one more thing than what you need. (That's the unspoken part of their motto. All the bank you'll ever need and not one thing more.) They are quite the utilitarian bank.
  5. LaFontaine DID pick his destination. He was 100% on board with the trade or it would never have happened. Same goes for the Hawerchuck trade to Buffalo. His best buddy in the world, Scott Arniel (who was Hawerchuck's best man, and Dale was his), convinced him that Buffalo was a great place to play. And they were really excited to be back on the same team again, well, at least until they found out Arniel was going back to the 'Peg in the deal. But due to who he was and what he'd meant for the Jets franchise there was no way they were sending him to Buffalo if he wasn't on board with the change.
  6. M&T Bank…if you use the ATM, it will not allow you to make two or more transactions without spitting your card out and start over after each one. Have called numerous time asking for this to be changed…falling on deaf ears.
  7. Presuming the CHL agrees to that change to their agreement with the NHL.

  9. The athletics model disagrees with us. Speaking strictly from the players out/players in perspective it says Buffalo improved more than all but 6 teams 7. Buffalo Sabres Net Rating added: +9 In: Josh Doan, Justin Danforth, Michael Kesselring, Conor Timmins, Alex Lyon Out: JJ Peterka, Sam Lafferty, Connor Clifton, Jacob Bernard-Docker There are a lot of folks who haven’t been thrilled with Buffalo’s offseason and that’s understandable. For the third straight year, it feels like it’s been time to push the chips in, spend some money and gun for a playoff spot. Instead, the Sabres made depth moves and shipped off a true top-six scorer without addressing the void afterward. ADVERTISEMENT It feels like a wasted opportunity, which probably makes Buffalo’s placement here seem out of touch with reality. Maybe it is — betting on the Sabres has been a terrible idea for over a decade. But maybe this is the year Buffalo does turn the corner, thanks to internal jumps buoyed by cleaned-up depth. Josh Doan is not as good as JJ Peterka. That’s a downgrade without question. But his underrated defensive game compared to Peterka’s issues without the puck does mean the gap might not be as large as their point totals suggest. Add more Justin Danforth and less Beck Malenstyn on the fourth line and it’s possible the Sabres can cover up the loss in the aggregate. There is arguably enough young, developing forward depth to sustain a Peterka-sized loss. The more important factor, though, is that the jump from Connor Clifton to Michael Kesselring is substantially larger than the drop from Peterka to Doan. Buffalo’s defense corps was a major weakness last season, one that Kesselring’s presence can help fix. He did well in a top-pair role when Utah ran into injuries last season, enough to believe he’s a true top-four defenseman. Pair him with Owen Power and Buffalo’s top four looks genuinely decent for the first time in a long time. The addition of Conor Timmins should help with things as well. He showed some promise in an elevated role with Pittsburgh, enough to believe he can form an actually good third pair with the defensively stout Mattias Samuelsson.Timmins isn’t much, but he’s probably a better option than what Buffalo was toiling with last year in the same role. Defensive depth is something this team has been missing for a while. If everything goes according to plan after this offseason, it’ll finally be a source of strength for Buffalo. And that could be what changes everything for this team. The Sabres have gone from one good pair led by Rasmus Dahlin to potentially three
  10. This was pre-NMC's though. Lafontaine today would have a full NMC and would either pick a destination, or force you to keep him. The only move here is for players that don't have clauses and are in their early 20's. And most of the superstars in that age group are... i suppose no one is "untradeable", but the caliber player you're probably looking for has already been extended and isn't someone a team is looking to move.
  11. The new cba kicks in for 2026. He's gonna play 1 more CHL season and then he can go to the AHL.
  12. How did this get 2 pages? He's an AHL plug.
  13. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DMGfbCbxVsp/ I hope you'll all be taking these after the Sabres schedule release.
  14. The more times I play it, the deeper that hook gets in...
  15. Yes, they’re playing in Sacramento, where I live. You probably don’t follow it like I do but the latest episode of the clown show was priceless. The agreement the A’s signed with Vegas had a clause where the A’s had to start building the stadium in 180 days. Before that deadline, the A’s held a fake groundbreaking where they rented a bunch of heavy machinery for the day for the photo op. What a bozo?! And they don’t force him to sell.
  16. There's also a potential Bills/Sabres weekend Jan 17/18 if the Bills are hosting a playoff game. We only have 2 months that are road heavy. Three are home heavy and 2 are even.
  17. was met with derision by the Sabrespace division. I tried.
  18. I bet he suits up for a few Sabresganes this season. Might be a guy who makes sure you can’t take out of the lineup. We’ll see.
  19. November 1 Caps - November 2 Cheatriots December 27 Iggles - December 27 Bruuuuuns Not a weekend but a Sunday Monday November 16 Bucs - November 17 Eulers
  20. Umm, Granato isn't the coach anymore. The Sabres gave up THAT portion of their contrarian-ness. They no longer win a majority of their road games and lose a majority of their home games.
  21. Any Bills /Sabres weekends?
  22. But, if we didn't have to make a separate trip to and from the rink literally every other day for over a week FOUR separate times, we MIGHT actually show up at the games. Was really looking forward to getting to 25 or maybe even 30 games this year. Went to 24 or 25 last year. But might be hard pressed to make it to 10. Just simply can't do that much driving during the week in that short a timeframe. Am way too busy to pull it off. The crazily frustrating off-season just keeps rolling along. 😞 (And, yes, realize you were joking, but... .)
  23. I've been snowboarding in Salt Lake many times, though I haven't been since COVID. Strictly from a snowboarding perspective, it's the best spot I've ever been to as the snow and terrain might be the best in the world. Apparently crowds have since gotten bad as the Utah puritan reputation has somewhat worn off. Snowboarding won't matter to JJ though since it would void his contract. I know a guy who played a season there for the Grizzlies 25 years ago. His attitude towards the off the ice stuff was much like JJ (he said he liked to play "guilty"). Said the clubs weren't very good, and many of the local girls were off limits. He also said alcohol was more taboo than other harder substances which made interacting even weirder. He did really like training in the mountains though and liked the restaurant scene. Obviously, things have become much more liberal and the Mormon % has dropped in the last 25 years. I can personally say I've been very much over served in the beehive state (very, very much)... much to the regret of my next day on the mountain. Still, I'd far take Buffalo nightlife over SLC. Maybe JJ will get in with some $$$ crowd over in Park City, but I'm thinking he'd be far younger than the clientele there.
