  1. Past hour
  2. The austerity measures that Pegula took was a reasonable response to a unique historical situation that created a challenging business environment. As you point out, there was nothing unique about the way he responded compared to most others in the sports business and business world in general. That has never been my source of criticism of him on how he has managed his hockey business. He's simply made a number of crushing bad decisions, most notably his staffing decisions, that have weighed this franchise down. He's the owner and boss. He could do whatever he wants to do. However, the measure is the record. It's not a challenge to make a determination on his performance as an owner. The owner has been repeatedly criticized for interfering with the hockey operation. I don't think that currently it is a valid criticism, or at least less so now. However, the critical staffing issue still plagues this franchise and will continue to do so until there is a change.
  3. I agree. I know the cap is going up, but as much as in an earlier post I said how good he is, he's on of the top wingers in the league...I have no interest in paying him anywhere close to $11m per year when he is going to be in his 30's to START the extension. Maybe, MAYBE if it was a 4 year extension, but even then...steep price for what I he is likely to be in a couple years.
  4. Another Lafferty
  5. They beat a Tkachuk-less Ottwa, now beat a Tkachuk-less Florida. Grab the points while you can.
  6. I don't know who is starting in goal. But if I had a choice, it would be Lyons. If we can get the caliber of goaltending that he has given us so far, I would be happy with that. I see the Sabres in a good situation to win this home game because of the reasons you cited. They are compared to Florida more rested, are at home and are less banged up. Another factor is that the Sabres should be determined not to fall too far back at this early stage of the season. So I'm predicting the Sabres will be in the win column by nightfall.
  7. To be fair, every team in the league implemented austerity measures during COVID. Take the Bruins for example as they put 150 employees on leave and reduced salaries.
  8. So what you're saying is, we need to be More Witty
  9. Nabbed some 21$ seats on the old secondary market. So if anyone is going, let me know and we can try and catch up
  10. I would take this with a huge grain of salt, but 11 million dollars is too much At this point it, the best path forward maybe trading him. Retain 50%, yes I know who the owner is, and see what happens. I would also make sure all suitors have Jarmo’s Cell as he is making the trade.
  11. Business office move. But that's not as click-baity.
  12. Today
  13. Young man, you've watched enough regular season hockey to know there's no reason to be that pessimistic about a single game in time. The Sabres have beat many top teams in recent seasons. The rest factor alone points strongly to Buffalo, and there are psychological factors in their favor as well. Sabres win, daaaaaaaaa Sabres win!
  14. He was two votes away from being considered for the Nobel Peace Prize but he did get the Noble Piece Bridge Award.
  15. Too bad the Jays relief pitching choked with the lead only needing 6 outs. Even though 6 & 7 are back in Toronto, winning two “win or go home” games will be tough…especially when they pitched their ace in game 5.
  16. Anyone that certain of the outcome ought to monetize their hunches, right. A classic making- lemonade-from-lemons scenario. Take this game. On Draftkings Panthers are -142 moneyline. So a $10 bet earns $7.04.
  17. The last time I watched Baseball Ken Griffey Jr was on the Reds, has alot happened since then? 😀
  18. I still think Rosen will be a useful middle six NHL player. I think his floor is Victor Olofsson. Rosen is currently 9 months younger than Olofsson was when Olofsson first played an AHL game.
  19. Isak Rosen is currently on pace for 72g and 144pts in the AHL. Really curious how he does in Rochester and if he'll get a callup.
  20. Don't necessarily mean this exact trade but Buffalo should be trying to trade 1 of their 450 defense prospects for a forward. For example Yegor Chinakov wants out of Columbus, could there be a fit for Buffalo. Idk what Buffalo is doing with Rosen. They need to sort that out.
  21. I'm going on a little day trip today so I'll catch up with both the Sabres and Amerks when I get back tonight.
  22. Except Utica got two garbage goals very late when the game was in the bag.
  23. Sounds pretty similar to the 8-4 win.
