  1. Past hour
  2. Allowing Kevyn to do this trade sucks. Everyone in the league knows he's dead man walking so they'll try to fleece him.
  3. I’d be fine dealing Byram if we had a competent GM, the guy traded for him with no plan in place. This is some top level incompetence right there.
  4. He has been injured prior to his last end of season injury. If I recall correctly he played with a bad ankle.
  5. I've posted this many times. When we got him, Byram was a sub 50% expected goal % player on a stacked Avalanche team where basically everyone was above. He also had cherry picked assignments with Manson and Girard getting the tough defense zone matchups that typically drop the %'s. On the Sabres he was always one of our worse expected goals too unless he was playing with Dahlin. We don't want him, nor his contract asking price. Had he asked me, I would have helped him move too.
  6. They are trading the wrong player, but they couldn’t keep both Power and Byram. Oh well. Now what can we get for him?
  7. Byram + prospect or pick for Noah Dobson. Makes a lot of sense in that the Islanders will be drafting a Dman 1st overall and we need a RHD desperately.
  8. What injuries have been factors in Power's play? He's had INJURY (singular) and hasn't played since sustaining said injury.
  9. Power has had his struggles as a young defenseman. That shouldn’t be surprising. And without a doubt, injuries have been a factor in his play. However, if the choice came down to keeping either Bryan or Power, that would be an easy decision for the organization. Without much consideration, Power would and should be kept and Byram dealt.
  10. Cool. Now, trade him before the draft. If it's after UFA starts, Byram should sign a 1-year $4.5M offer sheet with some playoff team that needs a PP2 guy. Adams can either take a 2026 2nd or continue the redundant logjam of players and eat into the "no we don't have a self-imposed ceiling" cap space that is going to be set aside for JJP, Quinn, Levi, McLeod, and Kozak. (I'm now also praying that Kozak gets a silly $3M offer sheet where the compensation is a 2nd round pick and Adams is all... he's ours! And Kozak ends up being way overpaid, but good at his role.) Let the chaos go unchecked!
  11. MDoP - aka "The Gimp"
  12. I looked at it as two connected trades: Adams traded down to acquire an extra 2nd specifically with the intent of flipping it for Malenstyn
  13. I strongly believe Byram will be closer to the Reinhart/O’Reilly list of former Sabres than the Mittelstadt/Myers group when all is said and done. They better use him to fix this.
  14. I like Byram’s game better than Power’s. I never get nice things.
  15. Today
  16. No, I work for Serve Pro, he just had a plumbing issue and we cleaned out the basement. Its like it never happened now.
  17. No, that isn't true. WHEN he traded for him, he saw him as Dahlin's partner. When Ruff showed up, he saw Samuelsson and Power as Dahlin's primary partners but he still put the 2 (Dahlin & Byram) together for a very long stretch of the season. Towards the end of this year Adams said something to the effect of he had no idea where Byram fit in best. That his opinion changed (likely in large part due to Ruff's input) doesn't mean he didn't have a plan when he traded for him. There are soooooooo many legit things to criticize Adams for; IMHO THAT isn't one of them.
  18. Barring Adams getting Botts fired, you can’t exactly blame him for Eichel wanting out. Unless you wanted to keep Botts at the helm there were going to be changes regardless of who we hired. Reinhart was a casualty of COVID, I doubt we give him a 1 year bridge had the season ended normally. Mitts for Byram was a good trade in hindsight but more of a head scratcher as a whole. Byram is a good player but doesn’t add anything new to the mix. Malenstyn trade in the OP is wrong, we traded a 2nd (pick 43) for him. I wouldn’t have offered that. At best I’d of offered a 4th. Cozens is too early to say; still don’t like the return personally but I wasn’t against trading him by the time they did. Hall was actually a solid trade in the circumstances but his signing was a dumb attempt to either help Krueger or make Eichel happy after not trading for him the previous year. Staal is a hard one; the idea behind the trade was solid; a vet C/W for a less celebrated one. It failed in hindsight but wasn’t abjectly bad at n the immediate. If I could go back in time I’d of kept ROR, made Eichel respect his elders so he wouldn’t become toxic and signed Reinhart when Botts had the opportunity. Additionally I bring back Pommers for the COVID season with Vanek to play the 3rd line with Mitts. Traded Risto + 4th for Ehlers and played harder ball with Skinner’s contract. If all goes well, 2019-2020 has Skinner - RoR - ??? Ehlers - Eichel - Reinhart Vanek - Mitts - Pominville ??? - ??? - ??? Dahlin - Montour Scandella - Jokiharju ??? - Miller That could very well make the playoffs.
  19. Yeah the fact that at minimum 2 times a year we have to question team toughness and sticking up for each other... It's a MAJOR problem. Those teams just simply won't win when it matters. We are the cream puffs sitting in the bakery case and I want this team to be the rock hard stale bread in dumpster in the ally.
  20. Not surprising. Adams admitted that he didn't know where Byram fit in when he traded for him. Kev has no plan to build a competitve roster aside from gathering shiny nickels.
  21. So, this season's failure won't be anybody's fault because it took too long for Power to get back to form from the injury now that they'll only have 2 top 4 D-men? Lather, rinse, repeat. Some teams build rosters in the off-season, the Sabres build excuses.
  22. As @inkman is always reminding us, never believe what you see in press conferences. But I definitely read into the Adams and Byram season-enders - what was said and what wasn’t said - that Byram is probably gone. Today on After the Whistle Craig Rivet said Byram’s family came in and helped him completely clean out his house. Rivet says Byram would sign in Buffalo, but he wants Power’s role and opportunity. They’ve chosen Power over Byram and he will be moved. Take it for what it’s worth.
  23. No. Don't like the system. It's dumb. But these rocket surgeons that run the league are going to do whatever they want regardless how dumb it is. But, that said, making the system even MORE convoluted DOESN'T make it any better. It just makes it an even bigger embarrassment than it already is.
  24. And all I can picture is this.
