Taro T Posted 10 hours ago Report Posted 10 hours ago 1 hour ago, PromoTheRobot said: By Lindy's philosophy, Ellis should be starting Monday. 🔥👋 He played very well tonight. Only gave up 1 goal he had a chance on and he never should've been in the spot to have to make that save. Personally would play him on Monday and expect Ruff will do so. But, with 3 goalies, unless he gets a shutout Monday, would come back with 1 of the other 2 in the one after that. Had Lyon not gone nearly 4 weeks between getting any action, he probably would've been better. And if he steals 1 of the 1st 2 goals against or doesn't give up the 3rd one, maybe that horseshoe lodged firmly up Allen's arse gets dislodged. Quote
PerreaultForever Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago Well the hockey gods took pity on them and gave them the lucky bounce of the year so far. It's a pity they can't get to more shootouts cause they have the skill guys to win those. Now fix the goalie situation. Ellis is obviously a keeper. Quote

He doesn’t give up soft goals as often as the others. 1 1 Quote
LTS Posted 8 hours ago Report Posted 8 hours ago Ellis is still a bit too busy with his movements, but I'll take it for now. They managed a win. I don't really care too much other than a dub is better than the L. Find a way to make it happen more consistently... reminder this is only their second road dub and they are about to embark on a long road game stretch. I don't miss Greenway. I like Greenway, but I think the game has passed him by. Still puzzling over giving apples on Doan's goal... that does NOT go in unless Zuccarello plays it.. that should be a straight no apples play... but I guess the NHL stat keepers are tasked with keeping Sabres fans engaged... As @pastajoe said he passes the eye test and just looks more in control of the net with calm sound positioning. But if you want to make the argument they are all the same then you keep the two younger ones. Quote
Night Train Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Stole one. 2 incredibly fortunate goals in regulation. 4th line was our best line. Our top 3 lines cannot finish. Wild had a bunch of chances they couldn't convert. Ellis made some great saves. Quote

Rather than somebody else who has similar numbers but it's nothing but a bunch of mediocrity. When evaluating a goaltender, I would much rather look at what percentage of their games are they even or positive on the goals allowed versus expected goals allowed... Rather than raw numbers averaged together. 2 1 Quote

Like to get dirty in the corners and the wall, love playing around the paint. Best 4th line combo this season. Great example to our top three lines. Quote

When I saw the projected lineups yesterday, I wondered if Lindy was sending a message to Tuch and Tage in this respect? He puts Tage with Benson and Kozak, and Tuch with Doan and Östlund. I don't think the Zucker line needed it, as Zuck and McLeod tend to raise Quinn's effort. Quote

quill Posted 11 minutes ago Report Posted 11 minutes ago 9 hours ago, Doohickie said: There were a few saves tonight where he looked like Charlie Brown on the pitcher's mound when a hit comes zooming through: All limbs, everywhere at once. And yet in a split second he's in place for the next shot. His utter commitment to the save is second among Sabres goalies only to Dominik Hasek. That's a great description of him in action, Doohickie. I just hope everyone is patient with him as he continues to develop with the ups and downs that are likely to occur in the meantime. With the position this team is in, I think it's the perfect time for Lindy to stick with him as our main goalie for long enough to give him the chance to prove whether or not he could be the goalie we have needed for such a long time. Even now it is so fun watching his movements when trying to keep the puck out of the net, sometimes cat like, sometimes a little spastic looking, but always battling in any way he can to make the stop. He doesn't give up. Quote
