I honestly don’t believe this is possible. I have resigned myself to believing this team has started its annual 12 to 18 game losing streak early this season in earnest. I really do not see the Sabres winning another game until after the new year. Quote

I don't think this team is good enough to actually earn a win but they'll stumble into a few W's here or there by sheer luck. I can also see Mackinnon setting NHL records for goals and points earned in a single game / period. 1 Quote

Who woulda thought that McLeod would be our No 1 center LOL Given (injured when they acquired him) Norris was 1C and 21 year-old Kulich was 2C with 63 career games played... and the other options going into the season were Krebs and Danforth (with Kozak as 13F because Geertsen had to play).... Yeah, it was actually pretty likely in the event Kulich hit any sort of sophomore slump. Quote

Over the offseason I was one of the posters banging the drum to get him signed medium-to-long term and loved his game last year. This year, not so good... With that said, he functions best with 3rd line even strength minutes/ice time (13-14 minutes even strength), and then being your #1 PK guy (another 2-3 minutes per game) so he totals about 15-17 minutes per game. He's getting about 18 minutes now. Not too much over what you want him to, but still over. The bigger issue though is what he is asked/expected to do in that time. Quote

I think he can be a functional 2C, if you had a 1st line that was going. The problem is, he hasn't really looked good with Tage any time they've been put together. I believe he played some 1C at points last year when we had some injuries and it didn't go well. But later in the year when Benson Kulich Thompson was working, McLeod was producing very well in the 2C spot. We all knew that probably was not sustainable but some of this is on the coach. Doan McLeod Tuch was a good line and Lindy obliterated it when we could have tried Tage at C and not break up their best line this year. 1 Quote

Until Benson returns and a "first" scoring line can be cobbled together (Benson-Östlund-TNT, perhaps), I'd be tempted to try: Doan - McLeod - Tuch Rosen - Östlund - Quinn Greenway - Kozak - Thompson Malenstyn - Krebs - Dunne 1 Quote

I'm also a pretty big fan of Ruff but I think he messed with Tage too much. Called him out as a C last year, moved him to wing. This year mostly at wing, but then back to center. When the team started struggling to score goals you stuck him with 2 AHL guys who he never even practiced with. Hey, Tage isn't a perfect player but he's the best goal scorer this team has seen in a while...and on a team that has trouble scoring goals stop messing with him and his role on the team. Quote

He's having a rough start to the season and now at age 32 he's probably lost a step in addition to any lost from his reconstructed knee. He has only 1 goal on the season, though he had another wiped out by an offside challenge. But you know come playoff time if he's healthy he'll be a contributor along the wall and in front of the net. Quote
