What does this even mean?

 

Friedman noted the organization has set up easy internal moves on the management side, which adds to the sense that changes could come if results do not turn.

Results won't change until changes are made. They have maybe 2 weeks before the season is lost if they keep the pace of 2wins 4losses.

I think it means there is already a plan in place where Adams is slid into some other role, Ruff moved upstairs, Jarmo becomes GM and someone like DeBoer is brought in.

Interesting thing is Deboer’s coaching partner everywhere he has been, Steve Spott, is an assistant at Boston this year. They have coached together all the way back to the Derek Roy Kitchener Rangers days.

Yeah…i guess if your plan includes promoting instead of firing failures, yeah, I guess “easy internal moves”.  
They don’t make sense, but easy?

Promotion only in name, probably into “token” roles that have little to no impact on actually building the team. As much as it’s a comment on how low a bar Adams has set while being in the chair, I won’t look upon a GM change as anything but a promising relative development 

Everyone knows the buck stops at Terry and we can talk about that until the cows come home but there’s no question that *at least* the second most influential mind behind the construction of the team is the guy who sits in the GM chair. 

That the person occupying said chair hasn’t, through aptitude, proper communication, and demonstrative results, managed to *become* THE lead voice, if they haven’t, is as much a comment on the failings of said GM(s) as anything. A paramount failure of the Adams’ regime

Hockey media’s best known NHL Insider states “the Sabres” have discussed Pete DeBoer, who is, I think, still regarded as one of the league’s best coaches, and certainly is by far the most highly regarded coach available. Seems like something I should be more excited about.

Let Ruff move into whatever made up advisory role needed to save face.

I’ve long felt we’ve needed an Alpha like a DeBoer to fix this. Somebody who doesn’t need the job, but wants the job, because they want the damn challenge. A little bit of ego here wouldn’t go amiss.

Someone lacking the fear, who understands the further, substantial increase in status they’ll get by being “the guy to resurrect the Sabres.”

If Terry cared at all, he'd fire Adams, dismiss Ruff and every assistant.  Hire Jarmo and move into something the complete opposite of this nonsense.

The  big problem is why wasn’t Jarmo just named GM. Why wasn’t DeBoer hired in the offseason. They always wait until too late to make any changes. 
 

if they do make a move and bring in a DeBoer in like December another year has been wasted.

Honey badger mentality. Maybe a layer between TP and a honey badger is a good thing.

As you maintain, any change is better than what they have. You bring in Jarmo/DeBoer and the respect level goes up immediately, it’s no longer howdy doody time. No way DeBoer accepts the current assistants as competent, he has enough contacts around the league to make up a good staff.
