The first 3/4 of the first period wasn't good - but Lyon was, so, there's that. The rest of the game wasn't bad until the very end. Rangers have a game under their belt and were probably a lot more mentally prepared for a NHL game than the Sabres were.

The only fail was Quinn, IMHO, he did not look composed end the second and the entire third. 

If Lyon plays like that he gives us a chance. Not sure if UPL would've fared better.

I watched a game where there was way too many fanning on passes, way too many drop passes and nobody going to the dirty areas of the ice.

Will say it again....they don't have a playoff top line. Look at all the play off teams last year from the east. Look at their top line. They can make things happen. We have a glut of second and third line players. As far as dynamic, you've got Tage on a good night. People want to disagree but that's why they are offensively inconsistent. Too many instances of tonight....chances go to waste. Denial ain't working.

This is exactly correct. We did end up doing some good work and getting shots on goal but I really can’t recall one actual dangerous chance. We just don’t have the juice.

I'm going to withhold judgement on the Norris injury until Ruff says "upper body injury and he'll miss some time". Then, I'll be upset. For now, there's no reason to worry. Because I've got a glass of gin.

The Sabres certainly don't have a player who gets the puck and the opposition immediately backs off and says "uh oh." You can tell yourself it's Thompson, but most teams know that when he gets the puck in transition you have to attack him immediately because his gangly frame prevents him from a lot of nifty transition touches or dekes.

The concept of the Sabres played well and still lost 4 - 0 in their home opener with literally no physical contact st all is a joke ... this team is what they have always been ... a bunch of soft puss@#s that will never compete in this league... you like what you saw awesome... I didnt ... I saw what I habe watched the last 15 years nothing changes until pegula sells the team because he will likely give adams a 100 million 2 year extension because he just loved what he saw... because scoring even 1 goal in your home opener sucks... but people think this is awesome.... great for you... this team is soft non competitive and an embarrassment to anyone who has ever been employed at a job in their lives... their children should hide in shame they are so bad

We played well and lost. Need more traffic in front and more movement on the pp. Lots of good though, attacks were good and fought for pucks. We won a lot of battles and had good looks. Defensively Dahlin we a force and Byram had some moments. Timmins scares me and Bryson I don't want to talk about. 

Sabres worked hard tonight and lost anyways, but they weren't outclassed. This isn't football, we're not winning 82 games in a row.

Norris is cooked.
