I can’t even remember who the third guy was at this point but as Vanek / Roy alone had more points in 2006 than those 3 combined this is one I won’t concede

Nothing to concede.

It’s more a discussion about deployment rather than effectiveness, for me at least.

Except it didn't work and was the 2nd line.

Cozens was 4th, Quinn 9th and Peterka 11th in ATOI among forwards.

Roy was 5th, Max 6th, and Vanek 9th in 05/06.

Once again, the labels we attach based on pre-game depth charts don’t reflect reality.

I like Ziemer but idk if that's a 70pt winger, 50 is a stretch. Poltapov isn't real until he shows up.

I think Ziemer can be a Zucker, good complimentary 3W who can float up to 2W and not hurt you. And... if his shot improves, maybe he gives you that one Verhaeghe breakout season where he plays 60 games on the top line because of injury and reaps the benefits. Then, depending on whether you've already inked him to a second deal it's either an awesome contract, or it's the reason he leaves via UFA/trade.

Poltapov may only play a single season for the Sabres/Amerks (unless traded), but I do believe he'll come over. He wants to go the Kaprizov route rather than the rushed/unready Kisakov path. 3W with some finish.

Warhammer 40K Grab GIF by Xbox

When I was a kid I knew this other slightly younger kid who would opine that, if only a few of my birthdays would be accidentally missed, we could be the same age one day.

Used to inwardly chuckle at the impossibly but frankly, me catching you, due to you missing an opportunity to post is somehow seemingly less likely

I wish they'd include contract status on those rosters (draftee vs. AHL vs. NHL).  It would help a bit while I'm playing the "who is that guy" game.

It is essentially contract-based.
Team Gold:

F - all AHL contracts: Costantini, Joshua, Kuntar, Savage, Slaggert

D - Bedkowski-unsigned, Brunet-unsigned, Fulp-- camp invite?, Tischke-AHL

G - Leenders and Meloche-unsigned rookies

Fulp was a late AHL signing

Yea because Quinn and Peterka were not on the pk or being given 1st pp time then. Olofsson, Tuch, Tage, Dahlin, and Cozens were top pp unit.

Also, I'm thinking of Pominville not Max

I didn’t read deep enough to see anything beyond the full roster from the first post. That would be the perfect spot for them to include it, right at the start.

Grown ups like Tuch and Greenway will help this group quite a bit.

The 2nd line as shown is a low minutes line, unless Doan becomes his father in one season he is bottom 6.

So they want to set the bar high? Or they want to raise it? Come on, get your messaging in sync.

Add Geertsen to this mix as a potential 14th forward.

I wondered about this back when he signed, but Lindy name-dropping him in the presser reinforced it.

If they are serious about “culture” - and I think they are - he’s in the running to make the team in an Andrew Peters role.

He fights like Peters, loses almost everytime. The footage on hockeyfights.com was not encouraging.  Lol

This looks incredibly predetermined. Doan bumps down to third for Tuch and Danforth bumps Geertsen out at that moment.

A 20 year old on the top line feels wrong. Second line is weak unless Quinn somehow emerges as what Kevyn claims he is rather than what he was last year. Third line might be okay if Zucker is healthy and Doan is half decent. Bottom looks same as last year. Defense as expected.

It's really basically the same as last year.

I wouldnt be so sure Lindy mentioned Geertsen by name when he talked about players he was really excited about and who had big off seasons of training, I will not be suprised if he is playing an almost full time role on the team, and I am okay with that!

They also asked Lindy about if he can play D or Wing, and he said he is a lot like I was, could play D or Wing, so I think Lindy has a little soft spot for Geertsen, which again I am okay with, we have been lacking his kind of pressence for a long long time

Peterka Thompson Tuch

Benson Norris Thompson

Benson Cozens Quinn

Zucker McLeod Tuch

Greenway McLeod Zucker

Quinn Kulich Doan

Malenstyn Krebs Lafferty

Greenway Krebs Danforth

So four new players, 3 others playing new positions, not one line (hell, only one duo even) repeated, just one player slotted in the same slot, but still basically the same?

And what does predetermined even mean? The coach wasn’t supposed to decide what lines he’d like to see before his first practice?

We've literally done this multiple times before.
