And there is nothing funny about how he has crushed a once vibrant hockey market into an apathetic market where many games are played in front of empty seats. As far as I'm concerned, this fool owner can get on his tax write off big boat and sale away. This owner is a joke! Is that funny enough for you. 2 Quote

It was a bad analogy when it was presented. No matter what size the business, no business owner wants to use their personal wealth to subsidize the business. It’s just not sustainable. Ultimately, however, like you said, it’s their money to do with what they want. The boat talk is overdone for sure. But when the world was in the midst of a global pandemic they publicly worried about the boat and the family lifestyle. They furloughed 125 rank and file employees in the Sabres organization and PSE. Not a great look for them. The Sabres are always second fiddle, no Bills employees were furloughed. Then they went to this EEE garbage, and again the Bills didn’t. And they brought in their most unqualified GM yet who in 6 years has only added to the ruination of the Sabres culture. So while the boat jokes are stale, the agitation of the fan base is legitimate. 1 1 Quote

That’s the real issue. Everyone has stated in various forms that he does’t know what he is doing. The problem is that he hasn’t recognized that obvious fact yet. His big boat unreality has sunk this franchise in deep waters. Quote

If it is inappropriate to criticize an owner of a sports franchise in a system that is designed for parity, there is a simple solution: sell the team. What do people expect? Adulation and a warm embrace for a generation of incompetency? Quote

I equate the MW schtick to the “we have a hearing test at work today” my favorite jokester in the building “what”? I preemptively screamed that fat fuzuck down the last time he tried it before he could utter a syllable. That shits not funny. Go tell some other lonely weirdo your terrible dad joke. It’s not funny, don’t say dumb ***** like that around me. Step your game up and actually use your brain if you want to be funny. 2 Quote

Take the Bruins for example as they put 150 employees on leave and reduced salaries. Quote

Take the Bruins for example as they put 150 employees on leave and reduced salaries. The austerity measures that Pegula took was a reasonable response to a unique historical situation that created a challenging business environment. As you point out, there was nothing unique about the way he responded compared to most others in the sports business and business world in general. That has never been my source of criticism of him on how he has managed his hockey business. He's simply made a number of crushing bad decisions, most notably his staffing decisions, that have weighed this franchise down. He's the owner and boss. He could do whatever he wants to do. However, the measure is the record. It's not a challenge to make a determination on his performance as an owner. The owner has been repeatedly criticized for interfering with the hockey operation. I don't think that currently it is a valid criticism, or at least less so now. However, the critical staffing issue still plagues this franchise and will continue to do so until there is a change.
