    • Sabres will trade him for actual NHL players
      15
    • Sabres will trade him for primarily picks with maybe a marginal player thrown in
      14
    • Sabres will let him be offer sheeted because the compensation will be the best in this route
      4
    • Sabres will re sign him to a bridge deal
      44
    • Sabres will sign him long term

Sure trade 20 somethings for overaged 30 somethings makes perfect sense for a team that is even close to sniffing a Stanley Cup this coming season. Just kill me. At least with the JJP trade we got back guys of similar age.

I’m sorry but trading Krebs and Östlund isn’t exactly blowing up the young core of this team. This team hasn’t made the Playoffs in 14 years. I want them in this year.

Neigbors-Norris-Thompson

Rust-Kulich-Tuch

Benson-McLeod-Quinn

Zucker-Rakell-Greenway

Dahlin-Acquired D Man

Power-Kesserling

Timmins-Samuelsson

That lineup feels like a Playoff lineup to me. Krebs isn’t a major piece to a Cup contender 3-5 years from now and with Helenius looking good I can part with Östlund.

I'm just saying with the age of Rust and Rackell it might a one year playoff run and done. I didn't realize this plan including and Neighbors. It's more desirable then.

I don't understand the thought process for $9 million per year.

Is he a high draft pick with potential? I guess so. But nothing in his play, even if you dig deep into the advanced stats, says $9 million per year... Or even close to that.

We have over $8M in cap space. It makes too much sense that the reason it's there is to match the offer sheet. Samuelsson is finally on the 3rd pair where he belongs. You trade Byram and you just created a hole in your top 4.

I think this is exactly what Byram wants but he won’t get the opportunity here with Dahlin and Power.   He wants / needs to be “the guy” on PP1 to put up some numbers that get him in the $9M discussion.  His career has been second fiddle to Makar and Dahlin so you can’t blame him for looking for opportunity.  I think it has nothing to do with the city and culture.

Bryan is looking out for his own interests. There is nothing wrong about that. On the other hand he is currently contractually  bound to the Sabres who have to act within their best interests. It’s simply part of the business.

Two minutes in the penalty box. I break the name down into two small bits: By Ram, Byram.

If they keep him or trade him for a comparable D with maybe a different skill set, fine. They still need to add a top 6 to the offense. If they trade for offensive help, they need to trade futures for a top 4 D.

Either way, I think they need to add somewhere to more plausibly field a team that could break the endless playoff drought.

I’d settle for a one year playoff run. If they got into the playoffs, it could convince free agents and those with no trade contracts to come to Buffalo.

I've probably gone on this site a 100 times since Tuesday hoping to see a shiny new Bo Byram trade thread pinned at the top of the Aud Club.

Still nothing. 😞

I think I've checked at least 5 times today. Seeing all the Byram rumours on Twitter isn't helping.

Connor Mcdavid will be a free agent and then we can start our cup contention. He’d come to buffalo right?

I agree with you that traded or not there needs to be more additions. Another way of looking at this issue is if you have to lose 50 lbs. you have to lose 30 lbs. first. You do what you can do to move forward.

If the 9M per year tag is definitely a for sure target, I personally don't want him at that.  7.5 range is where I'd fit him in.  Even then, we don't need 20-30% on three LHD.

100% agreement on both thoughts.

I'm going to put this here and hide.

What if a $9mill Byram offer sheet comes and we let him go for the picks. Then we use a small part of the money saved to sign a UFA who was one of Vegas' top offensive players from last year.

So the guy we had “no room for”, in Olofsson, owing to our air-tight forward ranks looks good on another team? Shocked, i say

This may be outside of this particular topic thread or maybe not (so I apologize for that indiscretion) but I would like to seek opinions on what it would take to acquire a player such as Rust?

At this point in his career, is the answer a rusted Zamboni?

Pittsburgh would be interested in a futures deal, Chad D said Buffalo was considering moving 9th overall for him. Take that with a grain of salt thought

Pittsburgh is said to be placating SC by keeping Rust and Rakell. The 9th for Rust would have been fine for me. If we bridge BB and add Roslovic ( assuming the $$$).. I like this off season 🤷🏻‍♂️

Well he was hoping to be drafted by Buffalo, not Edmonton. Remember the sick look on his face when the Oilers “won” the lottery.

I respect your league wide knowledge.Give me a few names of veteran players who might be available and would be good pickups on a short-term deal like the the Zucker pickup was for us last year. Our unimaginative GM needs to scan the market for deals that are singles when home run pickups are out of reach. Getting better on the margins is better than not getting better.
