The Panthers know they have competition in the division now.

Or they're eyeing their next escapee who gets growing pains under his belt in Buffalo before heading down south to be yet another complementary piece in the machine.

I’m inclined to agree - but I do think if we are going to pry that asset it will have to come from Byram or the 9 overall. Could be down 50% of those assets shortly

Meh, its what a 40-point scorer gets these days I guess.

Money better spent elsewhere if he plays like last year, a bargain if he plays to what his potential.

As others have said, He's got a chance to get Peterka's minutes and the skills to take advantage.

I'm not sure what went wrong last year — he was awful — but I still have time for Jack.

Greenway on the 4th line at 4 mil is head scratching.  Don’t get me wrong, the 4th line is where he belongs…at 1.5mil, NOT 4 mil.

Agreed but he always kills penalties well which most of our players cannot do. But yes, he's a slight premium but I don't mind him. He never floats.

Yes Robertson is a dream, ehlers probably is too. Either work

Greenway make as much as FLA’s entire 4th line. One franchise knows how to budget, one does not

I agree with you. You got to give up something to get something. If we can get a Rust type talent for a reasonable price, then we should go for it. Timidity is not the right trait for this time.

Well I’d imagine one of Thomson Tuch Quinn and Doan will need to play off wing unless one is on line 4. And even then, someone needs to take JJ’s spot. Don’t see Tuch or Thompson going over and Doan is Doan. I’d imagine Quinn is in the top 6 (or at least top 9) on the left if we don’t add another top 6 F

Quinn can play left. Honestlly it seems like that's where he usually lines up in the -zone anyway.

I agree we need another winger.

But even then, when I look at the resulting roster I see a crying need to move Tage into the middle again.

It looks like the forward plan right now is to hope a mix of Norris, Benson, Quinn and Kulich replace Peterka’s production.

While I hate the JJP trade in general even I will admit that the idea that it is possible for those four if the stay healthy and if the younger guys continue to improve for the offense to overcome the loss of Peterka.  That said it’s a typical hope and pray from Adams especially given Quinn and Norris’ injury histories.

This looks on paper like another attempt Moneypuck.

The trading of JJP makes a Robertson deal to be unlikely. I’m not sure what it would take to get Ehlers?

Big opportunity for him with JJP gone.

I still think he is going to turn into a legit star.  He just needs one season to put it all together and stay healthy.

One team took a long time to become good, but then managed to do so by building a good culture and taking advantage of some absurdly good contracts (Barkov, Ekblad, Bennett, Reino, etc.) and one wild contract that worked out anyway (Bob).

The other took a long time to....  and built the youngest team in the league and pittered away the first half or entirety of their absurdly good contracts (TNT, Tuch) and one wild contract because he's a stud (Dahlin).

In terms of goals, it might be easy to look at/justify that you need Norris to replace the goals provided by Peterka (do-able), and whatever winger takes his position just needs to replace Cozen's goals.  Peterka and Cozens gave you about 40-45 goals (per full season) the last 2 years combined. Can you get that out of Norris and 'someone else', maybe, probabaly.

It's less about the depth chart and more about the ice time.

He was 7th among forwards last year if you count Norris and Cozens as one guy.

Between the PK, lead protection, and those times we need to get heavy, I expect he'll be up there again.

I usually see Quinn on right but ya on the left a lot too. Not worried about the functionality there merely the overall talent and aptitude of the group

Still think there's another forward coming.

Ehlers will get $7m/year in tax free states that have palm trees, 7.5m per for ones without palm trees and will turn down $15m/year in buffalo

I wanted them to move Peterka to maximize return, but i always thought the guy they were going to move was Quinn.

Now that Peterka is gone, this makes more sense. Benson is a better and Kulich was more reliable last year, but jack remains the most skilled of our remaining young wingers.

Still think the popular thought that Kulich is a shoe-in for a prime role is premature and frankly foolhardy when it comes to 1C
