Yes the Panthers did seem to have operation kill Hagel the other night which probably stems back to the playoffs when he clobbered Barkov. There seemed to be enough retribution either way in that game to end the whole thing. Maybe Hagel is hurt enough Tampa decided to bring up the 5 designated hitters from the Crunch to continue the mayhem. The weirdest thing that happened was 5 minuets after Florida scored it's 8th goal it was taken off the board because one of the players was supposed to be out of the game had an assist on it.

Basically, it's a redux of Bertuzzi-Moore.  Hagel got a 1 game suspension in the playoffs last year for a late hit on Barkov.  Greer decided the suspension wasn't enough punishment for having injured Barkov, and attempted to mete out extra punishment on Hagel.  The Bolts took exception to that, and came prepared to explain how that response would receive a response as well.

Pretty sure this is how Hatfields-McCoys started, too.

This shows they cared. What about is debatable. 

You simply do not understand how hockey teams come together and never will. 

The second game got out of hand, that's fair, but I guarantee you these games galvanized both rosters.

All I know of this type of play, is that our oft-injured A captain stood there like a turd while our best player was assaulted. 

Then we play fake patty cake the next time to placate the city and the remaining fans that somehow hold on to hope. 

Maybe we need to go all "clockwork orange" on these guys and make them watch Don Cherry tapes over and over until they get it.

I'm going to predict 20 million per season on a 8 year deal? 160 Million total?

it will be interesting to see.

If I were McDavid, I'd try to figure out how long I'll be considered the top (or at least top 5 player in the league). If I think I will be a top 5 player for at least 4 more years, I might just sign for as much as I can for 4 years. Thinking there will still be a big market for me after those 4 years are up.  And if he hasn't won a cup by then, its going to be harder and harder in Edmonton beyond that, that gives him the flexibility to shop to other contenders after a few more shots in EDM.

Terms of the deal were not initially available. However, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on the 32 Thoughts Podcast earlier Monday that a short-term contract was expected.

"I'm not even convinced it's gonna be as long as four years, if he signs. I think it could be less than that. And as I've been saying all the way along, I think it's going to be lower than many people expect, below $16 (million), if he signs. I would be surprised if it's close to that," Friedman said.

Meanwhile, Sportsnet's Mark Spector reported the salary could land "quite possibly in $15 million range" annually, which would be lower than Kirill Kaprizov's record-setting eight-year, $136 million ($17 million AAV) contract with the Minnesota Wild.

 

If this is the case this actually would be really good for the Sabres cause it would show even the best player in the world takes less money to play where he wants to play, so maybe Tuch would do the same

It looks like only $12.5m per year. 

If that is true, he is doing EDM a HUGE favor

Tuch should sign for 2 x $12.25M as a prove it deal (to the owner). Then, go to Florida or Las Vegas on a Cup-mission spite discount.

I just posted it elsewhere, but I would LOVE that deal for Tuch. If I were the Sabres, I'd throw a party if he signed for a 2 year extension (You'd have him for 3 more years through the season he turns 32, 2027-28, someone else can pay him beyond that)

Or, try to get him back on the "Okposo" as a veteran leader who can move around the lineup.
