PromoTheRobot Posted 15 hours ago Report Posted 15 hours ago Refresh my memory. Why did the Sabres fire Dan Bylsma? Was it to appease a certain premature captain? Quote

Refresh our memories. Why did Bylsma wait 7 years for another NHL HC job after getting canned by the Sabres? And, why did he get canned after only 1 season back as THE man in the show? 1 Quote

Memory certainly does need refreshing. Eichel wasn’t named captain for another year and a half when bylsma got canned 2 Quote
Flashsabre Posted 13 hours ago Report Posted 13 hours ago I have no doubt Pegula has Appert penciled in as next HC. He seems to fall for charismatic people. He hired Lafontaine based on one chance meeting where he was blown away by his charisma. I’m sure he sees the same in Seth. Just hire DeBoer and get serious about being a serious organization. Quote

They hired Bylsma because they didn't get Babcock and he was last notable coach remaining. Had won with Crosby so the thinking was win with Eichel. They fired him because there was no progress at a point when there was greater expectation after drafting Eichel (and we already had Reinhart, O'Reilly etc.) After more than a decade of failure the bar for success has been drastically lowered, that's obvious. 2 hours ago, Flashsabre said: I have no doubt Pegula has Appert penciled in as next HC. Was that ever proven or just talk? Stylistically Bylsma didn't open it up in the preferred way. That urge for wide open offense might have come from Eichel as well as Pegula. Quote
