In all my 50 plus years of watching hockey I cannot think of a final series closer than this one. It is dead even and a total coin toss. Either team can win this and it'll probably be luck in game 7 OT. It's a very good final, the league must be happy.

He isn't. He just said he was open to teams bidding and the speculation was it would be 8x3. Bennett hasn't asked for 10 either but that speculation is out there too. 

Rest easy, neither will be a Sabre.

It's fun to talk about Marchand and Bennett becoming Sabres.

It's more  likely they'd sign with Zurich in the Swiss League than come here.

Realistically, I could see us overpaying and signing both of them because GMKA feels the pressure.  One of them gets injured for the season and one retires halfway through the year.

Let's be real about hockey. Marchand will be in the hall of fame one day. If he was a Sabre he'd an all time fan favorite. All we can hope for is 20 years from now we will look at Benson or somebody else on this roster in a similar way. Right now? We got nothing comparable.

Yeah hardly...I moved out at 18 when I went to college and have been on my own since, well with my wife and family for the past 20+ years technically.

And I am definitely a physical specimen. Don't see many guys at age 50 walking around with abs looking like a linebacker. Darien Lake water park days are always fun. 😏

Sabres have had nothing for 14 years now. Maybe one day...

You are preaching to the choir. I love every guy you mentioned.  Just not Marchand.  He’s a Bruin (spare me who he’s gallivanting around with now).  I will hate that dude, Lucic and Chara for the rest of my life.

Oh I totally get that. I know a lot of Bruins fans are having trouble cheering for Florida for similar reasons.

Marchand, understandable, Lucic, for sure, but Chara? Big beast on the ice but he's a really good guy. I never saw him in that same "rat" boat. I have respect for him.

Chara ruined Denis Hamel's career and nearly killed Pacioretty.

He consistently elbowed guys in the head.  Ooops, sorry, just too big to keep my elbows away from your melon.

Well, see I hate Pacioretty so I'm like whatever, he'd have done the same hit if he could. Chara, Stevens, Pronger, guys like that were always hated by other teams and that's the nature of who they were and what they were paid to do. Playfair and Korab were similar.

Well, Denis Hamel was a Sabre that played that style of game you wax so eloquently about and a dirty hit from Chara effectively ended his career.  He came back but was never the same.

Again, FTG and the horse that rode in on him.

I accept that, but I'd also say a version of Chara is exactly what this team currently needs.
