Standing Room Smoking Cigs Posted May 7 Report Posted May 7 This is a Ruff move. Pegs know Adams is not sustainable and he giving Ruff the keys. I really think last year Lindy came in agreeing to terms but knowing he would walk if his voice wasn't heard, a probation period upon his terms. This is a transition of power and like I said earlier, it's Ruff's vision now, better or worse
GoPuckYourself Posted May 7 Report Posted May 7 Imagine you have to report to a guy who has been a failure for 5 years, what former GM who isn't incompetent himself is going to take that on? 15 years incoming. 1

This is a transition of power and like I said earlier, it's Ruff's vision now, better or worse I've advocated this but I don't think this is what's happening. I thought Ruff into a POHO/Senior Advisor role and/or one of the assistant GMs he's worked with comes over as GM. If it were Ruffs ship to captain I'd assume we'd hear about shanges in the coaching staff. However, I do think that Ruff did have his hands in getting rid of Cozens and adding Norris, Zucker, and McLeod I just don't think it's the dramatic shift you're implying. 2

Changes to the coaches that he inherited... the fact that they are all still here in the same positions that they were tells me what I need to know about the power of Ruff... either he has no power... or his power and vision is not going to move us forward... I suspect its the former... 1
Taro T Posted May 7 Report Posted May 7 Curious how Karmanos and Ventura react to the recent news. Guessing that it isn't THAT big of a deal if they bolt for greener pastures as having them in town for the last 4 or so years hasn't appreciably affected the results on the ice. But, still, expect their leaving would be another bad thing to happen in this "offseason of hope." Maybe they're cool with the changes. But, personally would expect they want to get closer to the GM chair themselves, not farther from it. 2

Feeling but yeah, he is no soft guy 1

I immediately question their thought process I don't. if you are Jarmo, or Kenny Holland, or Pierre Dorion, or God knows who, this might be your fastest ticket back to a GM seat. If Adams succeeds, you can sell yourself as a guy who helped finally turn it around in Buffalo. If he doesn't you could find yourself steering the ship by Christmas. Short of an actual GM job offer, or a similar offer from a better franchise, this is a great opportunity. 2 2 1
Thorny Posted May 7 Report Posted May 7 Yes I am sure a position under Adams will attract the shiniest of candidates

Adams is irreverent, but hey at least when NHL free agency opens July, he'll have his buddies hanging down in Chautauqua... Forgetting NHl free agency has opened
Thorny Posted May 7 Report Posted May 7 There are rumours out there certain franchises are begging the likes of Holland to run their teams. He would never, ever have to lower himself to this 1 minute ago, GASabresIUFAN said: How about Rob Blake. Not in a million years under Adams

It’s created an unaddressable conflict of interest for me, it’s so far gone: what could I possibly root for next year? The options have been dialed down to the sabres either missing the playoffs for a 15th straight year or the worst GM I’ve ever seen (all aspects included) being granted an extension. cant do it. That’s why I drew the line. Adams behaviour over the course of the last year has actually made it more clear Edited May 7 by Thorny 2

Lance says Karmanos is a goner. "The Sabres have needed experienced advisers around Adams since he started, and associate general manager Jason Karmanos may not return to the organization in 2025-26, sources also told The Buffalo News. He wasn't involved in exit interviews or owner Terry Pegula's end-of-season discussion with Adams and Ruff. Jerry Forton, previously the amateur scouting director, added pro scouting duties last summer with his promotion to assistant general manager.
