*0, DNP, DNP, 83, 42, 20, 35, 53.  One touchdown. 🎉

Those are Worthy’s yards each game in 2025.  You can be down on Keon while also being honest about Worthy.

It's the fact that he must be accounted for, sliding help to his side. Now rice, kelce, etc etc can get free/have more room to work.

Ain't not one D worrying about Coleman, we've seen D this year just put a CB on him and forget about him for the game.

Maybe he's being used wrong, but he just isn't that DAWG this team needs. Worthy however would absolutley be an upgrade to the passing game.

Allowing Andy Reid to get his hands on Worthy and then drafting Coleman appears to be one of Beane’s biggest blunders as GM.

I'm not confident Worthy will have a long career given he's still high school sized.  But in a world where giving 2nd contracts to skill position players is only going to be reserved for top tier talent, it appears to be a major miss.  Josh covers a lot of Beane's warts, just like Brady did with Belichick.  He hits on later round picks like Deone Walker & Christian Benford but misses on early picks like Elam, Coleman and possibly Sanders.  A team with a lot of money tied up in QB, OL & defense; they need to hit on the early picks as they are going to be relied on to come in and start immediately.

I don't care about Worthy. I do care that Beane seems to refuse to use multiple high end assets to find wr. He just scrapes the dumpster and adds whatever free agent he feels like. Meanwhile other teams spend 1-3 round picks on wr. We've drafted Coleman, that's it. Shakir was a 5th, and I can't think of another wr picked early.

Wgr was right to question Brandon Beane about how he values the position, because he clearly doesn't.

Gabe Davis was a 4th rounder.

Beane deserves credit for going out and getting Diggs. I basically view Diggs as a high draft pick, since that's what they gave up to get him.

Someone here posted that 2026 is going to be a good WR draft class. I read elsewhere that it's a deep class, but not a class with multiple elite prospects. And apparently 2027 is projecting to be a WR class with lots of top-end talents.

Beane traded a first rounder for Diggs, used a 2nd on Coleman, traded a 3rd for Cooper, used a 4th rounder on Davis, and a fifth on Shakir.

He signed Beasley, Brown, and Palmer as FAs.

Additionally, he used a 1st round pick on Kincaid and a 3rd on Knox.  He signed an outstanding 3rd down back in FA in Johnson.

Aside from defensive line, during his tenure as GM, Beane has spent more draft assets and cap space on pass catchers for Allen than any other position group.

The argument that Beane doesn't value receivers for Allen isn't true.  The type of receivers he values, however, can be debated.

Aside from Brown, Beane hasn't added speedy, downfield threats.  Instead he favors bigger, possession WRs.  And they want these guys to block for the run game.

Beane, McDemott, and Brady aren't looking to out throw cover 2 defenses.  That approach left the building with Daboll.  They want a ball-control, possession offense, and their personnel decisions reflect this strategy.  That's why they chose Coleman over Worthy.

Is that the right approach?  That's the real question.  Allen won the MVP under Brady, but, you know, the Chiefs in the playoffs.

To the bold, doesn't sound like he's drafting pass catches, sounds like he wants to run block.

Yeah, no doubt.  Beane has referenced the weather in winter multiple times when discussing building the Bills roster.  He cited needed a strong-armed QB to play in bad weather when he drafted Allen.

So in his mind, running the ball is a big part of winning in December and January.  The Bills run game, which is one of the best in the league, uses heavy sets and 9 man blocking schemes.

But I also believe that he watched Diggs get manhandled enough in the playoffs (where PI and defensive holding calls are few and far between), that he also decided that he wanted bigger pass catchers.  Which is why he drafted Kincaid and Coleman. Because of this, I don't think he saw Worthy as an outside receiver in the Bills offense.  He'd saw him as an inside guy, and he already has Shakir on the roster.

Yeah, that's why he was available late in the first round.  By-passing him though triggered a lot of the local media types, which sort of started the Beane-is-ignoring-WR narrative that continues while Coleman struggles.

The problem is there have been 2 dozen top shelf WRs available to draft the last 3 years. We have Keon “contested catch (I can’t get open)” Coleman.

I seriously doubt that.  There've been a few, but not 2 dozen.

Nightmare Before Christmas Thinking GIF

I chose a festive "thinking" gif.

I genuinely appreciate this perspective and insight. I think it's spot on.

The trick (not the treat), of course, is that big-bodied WR's who can separate go at the tippy top of the draft. And the Bills ain't sniffing that tier anytime soon.

As for the approach being debatable, it makes me think a couple of things: (1) The weather in KC can get pretty rough as well (although perhaps not as reliably bad as it gets here); (2) I wish Terry would've put a roof on the new stadium.

Speed, speed, and more speed.  You can’t teach it.

Worthy turns short passes into big gains.  We also runs reverses effectively.   He is outproducing Coleman.

A team that needs help at WR, and more team speed in general, passed on the fastest guy in the draft.   Worse, they traded the pick  to their nemesis.

You do realize of course that were Worthy a Bill he'd be used almost exclusively for Jet Sweeps and WR Screens.  Curtis Samuel and Elijah Moore are both very quick.  Neither is used to stretch the field at all.  Maybe they were saving those routes for this week now that the "tough" part of the schedule is coming up; but won't expect it until we actually see them run deep routes.

The Bills, along with every other team that selected a WR before him, had good reason to pass on Worthy as he is strictly an off ball receiver and is scheme limited as a result. He is a great fit for Reid, not a great fit for us.

And this post of mine here 👆 is one that is informed and modified by the post upthread from @jad1.

And this is where there's a conversation to be had, I think.

He's missed fewer games than Coleman, scores touchdowns, and is the X receiver the Bills desperately need.

What scheme is the Bills offense under Brady?

Coleman is also scheme limited as well and he can be covered, often blanketed,  by one CB with no deep help.

Coleman may win the contested jump ball situations but that is a dangerous way to scheme a play.

They need someone better than Worthy.
