You are the type of guy when everyone says up, you say down. When someone says go, you say stop. When a coach says a player is "not 100% you oddly say that he is robustly healthy. If the coach acknowledges that a player is not "100%", he is essentially saying the player is playing hurt (injured). We have seen Dahlin when he was healthy, and we have seen him when he was plagued with an injury. How about using some common sense and trust your eyes!

We don’t know how badly Dahlin is hurt (Ruff says he is not 100%; we do know he was injured first day in camp and that the observable mechanics of the injury suggested a muscle pull type of injury and we know those can linger). 

We don’t know what impact the changes to the system and changed expectations, may be having. Ruff hinted in the same interview that Dahlin may be starting to understand that his opportunities (offensively, I took it) may present differently in this system than in year’s past. 

Dahlin can get down on himself when things don’t go well. It is far more likely to me, as with Cozens and Quinn, that he is frustrated with his own performance and is, as they say, “pressing too much”, than it is that he is pouting or annoyed by a system change or by increased demands. Also, he is likely not 100% health wise. Of course, there could also be factors that we don’t know about.

Absolutely agree! I believe he has an oblique injury (just my thoughts) as it would explain the upright posture, lack of juice on his shot and long exit passes, lack of power in his skating strides, and his hesitancy to jump into more offensive plays. If that is the case, could be a long time before we see a healthy Dahls as those injuries impact every movement and take forever to truly heal.

If Dahlin is healthy enough to play, he’s healthy enough to play well. If he can’t perform beyond what we’re seeing because of an injury, rest him.

Srsly the Sabres have lost with all iterations of Ras Dahl. The good the bad the young the old. IMHO being a fan of a player is not being a fan of a team.

Until Dahlin contributes on a winning team, I have no time for the guy.

The upright posture is compensation for something.  If was very serious I doubt he would be playing at all.

The Sabres have never seen old Ras, you will have to wait 10 more years for that.  

So you are not a fan of any player on this team then, since the team has not won since Barack Obama was Pres.

It's a bizarre mirroring between real world and the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Since Pegula bought the team, the franchise's fall from graces matches the fall of the Republic into an evil galactic empire. The central protagonist of the prequels is Sheev Palpatine (yes, that's his real first name in the SW canon), played ably by Kevyn (Sheevyn) Adams.

Under the tutelage of Darth Pegulas the Wise (and having his ear), Sheevyn enacted a 10-year coup to take control of the franchise. First, as an Assistant Coach (Senator), he helped initiate a vote of no confidence in GM Tim Murray aka Timis Yarorum [Murray backwards; Chancellor Finis Valorum]. Then, as Sr VP of Business Administration (Chancellor, Supreme Chancellor) he was instrumental in the victory/overthrow of GM JBott (essentially the Count Dooku role) to become GM in his place. GM Sheevyn also sometimes goes by his alias "Darth Adamious" (Sidious).

Along the way, young Jackikin Eichwalker was the Chosen One who didn't quite live up to it, despite beating McDulda (Sebulba, some folks call him McCrashicle) in a big pod-draft-race to become part of the franchise. I haven't taken the time to write the entire screenplay here on 'Space because I want to at least tell myself I have a life. Maybe if I stopped watching the games... But it is eerie how closely it works. Only the names need be changed to protect the innocent.

I was a fan of Gilbert Perreault from the first game that I saw him play in the Blue and Gold.  Same with Crozier, Martin, Schoeny, Gare, etc. 

Since I went and got old maybe that kind of hero worship has dissipated.   Or this team doesn't deserve it.  Or both.

I am a fan of a lot of Sabres players over this team’s existence.  In the last 14-15 yrs however, fandome has been rare and does not include any current members.

The answer is yes. I doubt any parent would objectively say otherwise. It might not be every day, but there are days one kid is definitely the bigger favorite than the other.  Sometimes a kid is just going through one of those "dumbass phases" and it's not something you can just overlook.

However, your analogy doesn't quite fit.  Each kid has their own trajectory. They are not a team working towards a common goal.

I am not debating your initial point, I understand the team before the player mentality. However, on a team, some parts are more important than others. Together they create something greater, or that's the plan, but if you had to make changes to it each player is not the same.  If they were we'd never talk about JAGs.

Ryan O’Reilly and Sam Reinhart are the only two players I’ve “liked” since the drought began. I’m defining liked as if I were making a fantasy team of all my favorite players in the NHL in any given season, those are the only two from the Sabres I would have on my team.

For whatever reason, there are some players that I do "like" more than others.  Even when they were with the team, and there appears to be no rhyme or reason for it. In the drought era:

-Eichel. If COURSE I WANTED him to be a generational level player for the Sabres, but from the time he got here, something about him I didn't 'like' as much as many did.

-Reinhart. He, on the other hand, I "Liked" more than Eichel.

Guys I 'liked' more:

Foligno, Zemgus, Dahlin, Thompson, McCabe, Olofsson, Tuch, Pysyk, Lehner

Guys I didn't 'hate' but wasn't as big of a fan of as many others were:

O'Rielly, Steve Ott, Cozens, Eichel even Ryan Miller (kinda 'liked' him but thought he wasn't quite as good as made out to be)

Again, no really reason I can think of for the list above...just the way it kinda happens with being a fan.

Most of the time, coaches won’t say anything at all, but when something is physically wrong with a player, that’s the kind of statement they’ll make if pressed on the matter.

Also, other teams have access to Sabres practices, if Dahlin wore a no-contact jersey and played, they’d be all over him. Likely, they’re being told to back off of him instead. Krebbs probably didn’t, and Dahlin started throwing them.

Just to be clear I'm not debating that he might have a small lingering something from that early issue (whatever it is/was) just that that isn't a big enough thing to explain his play. If it was significant enough to be hampering his play to the extent his play has been off, then that Krebs incident doesn't make sense and there's no way that would have been considered acceptable by Ruff. If Dahlin was actually significantly injured there's no way Ruff is going to excuse Krebs with a boys will be boys comment. That just makes no sense at all.
