So glad NO ONE knows what the ***** questions are. How hard is it to have a microphone to pass around?

First in-person press conference in a year and you legitimately can't hear anyone but the guys on the podium. Unreal.

Thank you. My first thought was, "In today's day and age...with all of the technology present, you still can't find a way to have the questions audible on TV?!"

What the hell is the point in televising it if you have no context of what is being asked? Absolutely horrible.

They feel good about their draft list.

Notes they have underage video and reports from players. Notes that taking overagers is likely to happen (within the league) because things have started to trend that way. Mainly talking about overagers in the later rounds.

"Have to concentrate on the things we see in players that are special qualities that project to the nhl." "Really focus on that projection is key, it is not a race to see who gets there first. We're looking and trying to take a clear focus on the draft."

"Development path and how it goes can be a determining factor in how a player turns out"

"Some players are able to deal with the challenge and jump right into the league and do well. Positions do make a difference in how difficult the transition can be"

"How we want to build out the analytics department to drive decisions. You want to create a process of all the information the data is saying and you want the scouts input and sometimes it will match up and sometimes it won't but you want all that information."

"The reality in terms of where we are going with puck tracking and technology is important. We want to add to analytics and it is a really important piece for the future"

"It is really important to go back to the timeline of development when you draft a player. A player may take 5 years and your lineup may be different. As we go down our list do we project him to be the best player. It is more about long term but we do think about where are organization is"

Adams on the draft and which players they look at based on position.

A lot of talk about "projecting" players into the future. Lots of talk about players facing challenges this year and how they "rise in the face of adversity"

Little known fact, Adams hasn't actually uttered a solitary sentence as GM since the season ended that didn't contain the word "future"

Unless you're making announcement, these are a waste of time.

For some that's true.  For a great many people it isn't.  It's a well tread marketing move to sell people on the actions that will occur.  Once people hear it enough they stop questioning it. They get sick of hearing about it. They perceive the pain of hearing about it as worse than it actually happening.

It's all a sales job.
