I believe that was the document that gave rise to #blueprint.

What a freaking debacle.

Did the plan fail or did TM's utilization of the assets acquired in the plan fail?

This. But, you know, narrative....

The crowd that insists GMTM is solely at fault for not being able to rebuild organizational depth that was deliberately set two full years behind in the intent to lose, when our depth was so bad that we'd demonstrably need about five grand slam moves per offseason, batting 1.000, for several years to get back to a reasonable state at the NHL level, is inexplicably the same crowd that is fine with Jason batting about 0.017 over the last three years, pretending to see some method behind a consistent and persistent inability to bring in forwards that are anything but mediocre-to-terrible, and letting our key young players go through ghastly amounts of time in festering-rot quality low-importance hockey (it is unquantifiable, but so meaningful, for our kids to play in hockey that matters, and we have let seasons collapse in soul-sucking fashion to ensure they wouldn't)

This is no defense of Murray, who deserved to be fired

And this, friends, is why the plan was deeply flawed.

But, you know, narratives.

Oh, great. A thread about the tank.

That plan should be under glass at a future Human Calamities exhibit. Right next to the one about how Covid 19 killed off all humanity except the two who carried on and re-seeded out planet: Father PA and Mother Chz.

Upon reflection, we better get a second couple in there.

If we’re the only 2 left I give you permission to conduct the science experiment.

PA is one up on me.  I’ve heard “not if you were the last man on earth” more than once.

Looking back, it's not hard to figure out where things went wrong.

At the heart of the entire thing is a fundamental organizational inability to properly assess talent, and then keep or acquire those with it, and move on from those without.

The funny thing is this sin was not committed by 1 or 2 key people, but by many players within the organization over a sustained period of time and across multiple regime changes.

The worst part is that it continues now under Botterill.

Have to agree.

Though Botterill has moved well beyond the statute of limitations as far as the tank is concerned. I'd say that for whoever the GM was. It's been 5 years.

Exhibit 3000 to why I despise trading players for picks.
