Sabres history set to Billy Joel's music; help me put it over the top!

It's getting exciting. Initial production of the song is going well. It's time to button up the lyrics. Last call.

Elvis becomes Ellis (easy!) to avoid any Wayne Presley confusion. bio's point about unis made me realize they had to be mentioned. Couldn't work in goathead, but did come up with a change: Larry Quinn, Bettman, blue and gold is back again. That brings in the whole story of wearing the blue and gold last game of 2002-03, then waiting for the blue and gold to be official for over three more years.

As for the slug: I am on the fence about this, but maybe: Do you believe, Trump's hairpiece, Lucic, Hull in crease. Kind of an out of order catchall category of historic indignations.

BTW, for lyrical purposes, the title is now "We Always Loved the Sabres."

Sabres fans had had it already by the summer of 75? :) Don't even get me started on another song, but the Brenda and Eddie device would work well. A couple going through life as Sabres fans.

Never thought of "Fire" as his worst song.

For me, that honor probably goes to River of Dreams. I don't know why, but I hate that song.

Nice! I was trying before to come up with something using Buffaslug, but that was harder to rhyme.

I can see that. I'm not sure his heart was in pop music toward the end. (Or ever, based on interviews he's done.)

Final and I mean final lyrics. It's off to the musician among us. Some changes: had to work in Batman; had to rhyme OjibwaY, so Rob Ray got moved; Drury becomes Soupy; and there's a new line after "suffering." I wanted that line to represent suffering over time, not just very recent (Lucic, tweet).

I should probably give an update. The instruments and choruses are recorded. I gotta say, it's sounds pretty f'n good. Way better than I expected,… even with my voice ruining it. I'm leaving tomorrow to go to the 'Dacks for a week (should put that in the Awesome thread) but have the following week off of work, as well. I am planning on finishing it then for a Labor Day release.
