An open letter to Mr. Ted Black/ MSG

SabresHD

Yes, it's socialism. :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:

You are a broken record. I hope you are never able to watch a game in HD again, and that you are forever cursed with Doc Emrick's play by play call.

:w00t: I read this, and for some reason, could not stop laughing

It would be cheaper to some...I have 10 channels in my Fav. list, I can't imagine 10 of these channels costing me what I pay now for 180 channels of complete garbage.

It will never happen because then the cable companies would have a harder time jamming the promotional channels down your throat. Almost ever channel now has an accompanying sales channel MSNBC CNN for example.

Time Warner had better keep the Sabres on the air or 60% of the households in Buffalo will drop them like hot potatoes.

If Time Warner drops MSG they will be out of business in the Buffalo area.

60%? The Sabres game 7 against Carolina got lower ratings than the lowest rated Bills regular season games. It takes hours for 2 workers to convert one house for DirectTV. Even if your insane prediction came true, it would take months or more than a year to convert that many houses in Buffalo for Direct. You think that many women will give up road runner for the Sabres? It looks like your head is the only thing you have a chance of banging.

You're a stubborn guy and can't admit that you were wrong about MSG. They are urging people to switch to Fios while they are in court to pull the plug on MSG HD. You think all these homes will convert to Direct with Buffalo weather, because the guys in this forum say they will? You have no clue.

Years ago, John McCain attempted to introduce legislation into the Senate which would have effectively allowed consumers to buy TV programming ala carte. For very obvious reasons, the cable / satellite industry spent untold millions to squash that, so tha they may continue to make the cable / satellite subscriber swallow the cost of thier awful programming in order to get the few things of interest.

If you'll recall, Fuse was the sticking point in the MSG Dish Network fiasco last year. Not likely to change, and the cost will be passed onto TWC subscribers once they fold...

The situation may be getting better. I hope.

I just signed up for my DirecTV install next Saturday. A whole house dvr that has 5 tuners. No more scheduling conflicts and

1 TB hard drive on the thing also. Hey Time Warner, screw you! :death:

Note to Scott cant seem to find an f you emoticon. Would like to use it to show TW my appreciation of them.

I love DirecTV but am forced to have TW here because they are the only internet available with enough live data bandwith. Enjoy it.

I have been trapped in some weird business strategy with Verizon that blows.

They were doing DSL everywhere and as they got to our neighborhood they stopped because they were bringing out FIOS. Well you know what happened there. They stopped building that out before it got to us in Cheektowaga. My guess is they are planning to implement tv service somehow over the new 4g LTE service but am sure it will be at least two years before that happens.

So in the meantime DirecTV will be at least be a useful fix for now. But because of Verizons lack of foresight re DSL we are forced to continue TW internet at $57 per month and I actually just switched our phone service to them without a contract for $20 a month the first year and $25 the second year. Great price on phone service but the internet price blows.

I wish Verizon would at least get us to 1999 buy offering us DSL here but what ever. I'm not missing any Sabres games no matter what and I do and I do get to at least partially flip TW the bird. But the day I am able to shut them off completely cant come soon enough!

If you end your arrangement with Time Warner and switch to another carrier then is that socialism? You either don't understand me or you're misrepresenting my position. None of us have some human right to watch the Sabres games, and it ain't in the Constitution. I want the Sabres to get out of the deal with MSG and broadcast the games through a local station. I don't care if they buy out the contract of have it invalidated in court. I want MSG out of the business of doing Sabres games. Getting out of a bad contract, and getting a better deal is not socialism. All the problems go away if they do things my way.

You do not appear to speak or process information like normal a human being. You wouldn't be one of Liger's friends, would you?

I like how both TWC and MSG are crying poor, but both have money to buy TV & radio spots, along with taking out full page ads in the Buffalo News. F both of them.

Yes! And don't forget TW recently had yet another increase in their rates. They can both suck it.

I was talking to my accountant this morning, and we were talking of bad banking experiences, and how they stay with you for life. He has suggested a particular bank, and I said no, because of a past bad experience.

To relate, I told him that because of my years of experience with TW, that I would give up the Sabres (and he knows what a fan I am) rather than do any business with those leaches. You can sheer a sheep all it's life, but only skin it once. F'ers!

I have almost as much disdain for MSG. I lost Dish to go to an inferior DVR/Remote and crappier signal (DirectTV) because of MSG, plus pay disconnect fees as I had just signed up. I hope all you TW people have better luck.

Take Care,

Steve

I have Directv and time Warner Internet. Don't want two bills?

The amount of DirecTV for the same plan on top of internet pretty much equals out after the 4 month freebies. Then I have to get the dish strapped on the house. I used to have a condo and didn't care about putting it on the balcony because it was easy to deal with in a storm. I am sure TW will piss me off enough at some point that I will switch.

Ted Black on GR this morning said that after partaking in a 3pm conference call yesterday to get an update on the MSG/TW siutation that he he is not hopeful there will be an agreement. He said he will be pissed if he doesn't have channel 700 as he is a TW subscriber also.

My DirecTV install is scheduled for Saturday. What about yours?

What happened to my poll asking how long everyone thinks this dispute will go on for. Last time I looked, there was no way for me to create a poll in a thread started by someone else, so I created a new thread with the poll. <_<

From what I've heard and read, it's the same problem that DishNetwork had with MSG (them trying to slip the FUSE channel in), and from what I've heard, TWC isn't going to budge, especially since they already offer so many free music channels. I might just listen to the games on the radio. at least they don't charge me.

I'm really out of it. The reason I can't find my thread...I created it over on TSW! At the risk of repeating myself...it sucks getting old! :)

If only the dish was smaller. I can't stand the thought of that giant wok on the side of my house or on a post in my backyard.

Really?? the dish is small and if its sitting on house or sitting on a pole big deal. Also folks even if TWC gives ya CI for Free and ya live in Buffalo area ya will be screwed like dish subscribers are MSG is unavailable and the other feed is blacked out. Ya have only 2 options FIOS or Directv.

Actually a large part of WNY cannot get FIOS including the City of Buffalo, Lancaster, Depew, and Cheektowaga not to mention the areas further out. Not sure about Niagara Falls.

I guess Verizon doesn't believe in "you have to spend money to make money". I'd love to give FIOS a shot, but at this point it is not an option.

PS The dish isn't small, and it looks like ###### bolted to the side of my house.

Never watched it.

on a side note. My mom still has Dish Network because she is locked into her contract. FiOS is not available in the Dryden/Ithaca area. I JUST got TWC. (1) we don't have room for a second dish on our roof because (2) there is too much tree cover around our house. There is only 1 corner of our roof/house where a dish can go to get coverage without chopping down half the trees. I'm stuck with TWC right now :censored:

And C Band if you want to get a real satellite service. For me no Fios so to DTV I go.

And when MSG is dropped from DTV then I guess I'm getting a monster dish put in the yard. And when MSG gets dropped from that it willl be available on some new wireless 4g service from Verizon and when MSG gets dropped from that it will be available on the newly named cable co in Buffalo. Adelphia. Rinse wash repeat. :death:
