  1. Kane needs to destroy one of these guys. Don't even care which one.
  2. Okposo's goal was magical.
  3. Was that a video game?
  4. Gio head butt made my heart soar.
  5. Bad goalies.
  6. First, make the blue in our uniforms BLUE. The "blue" we have now might as well be black and basically looks that way whether you're at the game or watching on TV. Second, remove gray arm pits and weird gray vertical piping. Then remove the silver outlines that they added to literally every part of our logo. Third, just use the current white jersey as your template and make a yellow version from that. Blue shoulder island with white border, blue horizontal lines on the arms, waist, and socks. Same logo as the home/road jerseys but with white border. There, you're done. You have three classic jerseys that all work together (like when the Blackhawks had white, red, and black as an alternate). Wear white at home all season long except for maybe November and February so that your fans (especially season ticket holders) can see all of your team's jerseys and the different jerseys/colors from around the league too.
  7. I think it's just a product of watching the games? Fedun has actually managed to do some things that helped us win this year. Sabres are 11-8-3 when Fedun plays this year. He doesn't get a ton of ice time but the games where he's in are generally better.
  8. I'd say he is terribly worse than Fedun. We're a better team when Fedun plays.
  9. I don't think trading Kane is "blowing the team up." He's a good 2nd liner on a contender and he's probably not here after next year no matter what (based both on what he'd cost to re-sign and where he probably wants to live). If you're going to trade NHL players for NHL players, the team that gets the best player wins. Which means it's a trade you can't win, because no contender is going to give us players that could help them win this year that are as good as Kane. The only way you could possibly win a Kane trade is if you trade for guys that won't help this year but could help much more down the line (and as early as next year).
  10. Yes. If we're trading with the Ducks, I'd go younger: Jacob Larsson (LHD, 1st round pick in 2015) or Marcus Pettersson (LHD, 2nd round pick in 2014). Neither guy would help us this year but, conceivably, either guy could be like having a second Guhle on the way to help us next year. When you're rebuilding -- and we still are because Tim Murray hasn't managed to accomplish anything in his first 2 years on the job -- every trade should be inter temporal. Trade talent now for talent later. We're not going to get value for Kane trading for guys that are already in the NHL. But if we're trading for guys that are *on their way* to the NHL, we might be better next year or the year after. And if you're the Ducks, Kane helps you in the playoffs this year and all of next season, so it's not a bad deal. I also factor in that I don't see Kane re-signing here. I think he'd rather be in a bigger city and he probably wants a (or 'another') free start.
  11. Maybe there's hope then? At least Regier didn't trade every asset he could for magic beans.
  12. I just saw this Twitter thread this morning, but Matthew Coller had a similar take on Buffalo yesterday: https://twitter.com/MatthewColler/status/825377801343795200 If you read the thread, his take is that Buffalo fans are just way too angry: So basically when the fan base takes the team this seriously, you really need the stars to align for there to be a positive feeling in the arena.
  13. I'd almost like to add them just because I know the entire Buffalo News staff would completely lose their minds and we'd be treated to years of hot takes about how they're ruining the atmosphere in the arena. Half of Mike Harrington's Twitter feed during home games is him complaining about the arena "Screecher" (he never calls out Lauren Hall by name) and how she's ruining everything. (My guess is Mike is a lonely, bitter man if he can't appreciate a pretty girl on our jumbotron a few times during a game.) Sadly, I don't think our fans could handle it right now either. "They're focused on cheerleaders?! Why not focus on building a winning team????" The Blackhawks have had ice girls during their entire dynasty and Dallas has them too, and both are better arena experiences. They might even remind people that this is just supposed to be a fun night out and not a life or death struggle for our city.
  14. The teenage version of me would never admit this but here goes: The experience of seeing an NHL game in Dallas is better than that in Buffalo in literally every way. The team is more fun to watch, the uniforms they wear at home are bright and fun (versus the darkest blue known to man), and the in-game presentation is incredible (everything from the jumbotron humor to the ice girls and cheerleaders). Worst of all, fans in their arena are way more fun to be around. There are two reasons for this. First, Dallas sports is the Cowboys and "stuff we watch while waiting for the next Cowboys game" so everyone is there to have a good time and no one is going to have their night ruined by a loss. Second, I'm starting to think the fact that we've never won a championship in Buffalo has driven all of our fans insane. We all take this WAY too seriously by now. This is supposed to be entertainment but we've elevated it into a critical part of our city's identity and now all the losing is making us miserable. It's to the point where I just want Buffalo to win a championship now so that everyone can just relax and enjoy sports going forward.
  15. The brilliant part is that "Jedi" can be singular or plural. Pretty cool title that hints at the tone but gives nothing away.
  16. It's times like these where I'm sorta thankful that I'm dead inside.
  17. We can sign him to a 2 year deal this spring and let him play in the NHL this season (burning his first year). No one else can offer him that. It's a good deal for him and really all I'd want to know if I was Peterson and his agent is if the Sabres are going to make a commitment to Lehner. If they are, it might make more sense to wait for FA. If not, and if the Sabres are willing to lean in on what it takes to sign him, we should be OK. I really like everything I know about him so I'm hoping we sign him. I'm still not convinced Lehner is the guy who gets us a Cup.
  18. He doesn't have the goal-scoring but he's at least as nasty. 92 hits in 32 games compared to 62 hits in 35 games for Kane, and he's delivered some devastating hits this year (the Backes hit is the first that comes to mind).
  19. Since when do our trades need to make sense?
  20. Love it. I'd also love for Mike Harrington to explain how Dallas can have a "Screecher" (i.e., a Lauren Hall type) and do comedy bits throughout almost every game on their jumbotron and still somehow have one of the best atmospheres in the league. Pretty sure all the old fossils that work at the News believe this is everything that's wrong with arenas.
  21. Hockey is fun?
  22. Are we talking "one move" as in you only get one move? Or just one move you'd like to see them make to start fixing things? If it's "we only have one move", I'd put all my chips on just firing DB and getting a new coach. If it's moves I want them to make: - Talk to Anaheim about Jacob Larsson and Columbus about Gabriel Carlsson. Both are LHD (which we need) drafted at the end of the 1st round in 2015 and conceivably could help the Sabres as soon as next year. (Which, along with Guhle, means we might actually have a somewhat OK defense again soon.) We know contenders will want Kane at the deadline so maybe there's a framework. - Rest Kulikov for another month and then see if you can get 3 games out of him leading up to the trade deadline. Maybe that will be enough to get a playoff team to take him for a draft pick. - Trade Gionta and Franson to playoff teams for 2018 picks. We already have plenty of 2017 picks and it's not a super strong draft.
