  1. Jury still out on the last 2 drafts but the 2014 one doesn't seem too great. He's made one good trade (ROR) and a bunch of underwhelming ones. Signed one good player (Okposo). That's his entire 2+ years as GM. And we're still a bottom 5 team.
  2. There's a longer version of the commercial where Marlene says she still prefers the eye needle to watching the Sabres.
  3. Tonight is the night when seeing the "Marlene and the eye needle" commercial became the *least* painful part of watching a Sabres game.
  4. Okposo signing was good, but signings like Moulson and Franson have been disastrous. What other draft picks are we celebrating? The jury is basically out on everyone. The team was loaddd with assets when he got here. He's traded away a ton and all we have to show for it is a slow team with a weak defense. Without Eichel, we're still a bottom 5 team. It's been 2 years. He's a t-shirt, not a genius GM.
  5. Good Lord, you're giving him credit for re-signing RFAs? That's considered a big win now? Seriously, take away the ROR trade and his trade record is basically a mess. The team sucks. Our GM is more personality than results.
  6. Asking Santa for a new GM and a new coach for 2017.
  7. He should like it. He assembled this group.
  8. He's made so many great trades, surely he'll be able to make more and fix the team, right?
  9. Why are they on our team?
  10. I've been super busy with work so I haven't had time to post much. I'm still watching the Sabres, but usually away from my computer when I do it. I did venture into the last GDT to ponder if Lehner was the worst shootout goalie in Sabres history earlier this week. (Pretty sure he is.) I will say that I remember posting last Christmas about how the ROR trade was brilliant but basically all the other GMTM trades taken together were pretty underwhelming. And a year later that still feels pretty accurate, which is depressing. It's easier to talk about the team when they're doing smart things. I guess the Nilsson trade was good value at least. Also, based on the last couple pages, I'm thinking my decision to never read or post in the Politics thread was a good call. I like talking hockey with you people but that thread sounded like it'd be a pit of despair.
  11. So, Robyn Lehrer is the worst shootout goalie we've ever had, right?
  12. Not really fair to judge the Tank based on the first five games of Eichel's second season (especially since he hasn't been able to play). Plus Edmonton is 5-1 and in first place right now so there's still a pretty strong argument for talented rosters. Our team just isn't that well-built. The defense is thin -- and why did we trade Pysyk for Kulikov again? Was it for awesome plays like that penalty tonight?
  13. Instant contender for longest thread in the history of this board.
  14. WORST. SEASON-OPENER. EVER.
  15. Literally hundreds of GDTs where this comment would be applicable.
  16. The stands are basically empty with 3 minutes left. It's game #1.
  17. If we were just trying to offload guys, I'm sure we had plenty of options for how to do it. Better options than this tire fire.
  18. Remember when we thought we won that trade? Remember when we thought it was close?
  19. I'm at the point where I need this guy to make it just because his social media game is off the charts.
  20. We aren't really a great representation of the Sabres fanbase as a whole. This board is for lunatics that want to talk about hockey in the middle of July and basically every day of summer until training camp gets here. :P
  21. This thread has been pretty dazzling over the past 24 hours. Way to go, team.
  22. Give him every opportunity to turn things around. We have the money and cap space right now. I don't think his struggles are a lack of effort and he's helped the team by taking Jack Eichel in and by helping convince KO to sign here. We're trying to be a destination for players and it'll help if we show loyalty to guys we already have. He's definitely not going to kill us on the 3rd or 4th line anyway. If he keeps declining, he's probably gone after this year. If he rebounds, even better.
  23. Anders Nilsson's career save % is 0.900. It's honestly astonishing how terrible our current back-up is based on his career so far.
