  1. "We'll see about that." - Dan Bylsma, probably "There's a lot going on down there." I laughed.
  2. Horrible rebounds. The worst shootout goalie maybe in NHL history. Gets worse during a game with each goal he lets in.
  3. There are 30 NHL teams. So the average team would have 1.67 Top 50 prospects. And the Sabres then have 0.33 more Top 50 prospects than average. Yippee? Two seasons after drafting Jack Eichel, the Sabres have moved from 30th to 28th place. They could have done that *just* by drafting Jack Eichel. So Murray has done basically nothing to turn them around. Asplund, Pu, Borgen, Guhle, Nylander, etc. are all prospects so it's still too soon to celebrate them. Nylander might be a star but he still hasn't figured out the AHL so he has a ways to go. And the rest are all roughly on par with Bailey, Baptiste, and Fasching, so they could be anything from AHL players to depth players to key contributors. We're years away from knowing. In the meantime, three more years of Bogo's huge contract and plenty more dead weight on this roster.
  4. He's patient??? He made a ton of moves the past 2 years. He traded prospects and picks as fast as he could for guys like Lehner, Kane, Bogo, Deslauriers, Fasching, etc, and signed Moulson and Franson. He wanted a fast turnaround. Instead, it looks like he set us back further. Patient would be waiting to make only the right moves, not overpaying for any shiny object that catches your eye.
  5. TM embraced it though. And then he made a bunch of trades to build a truly awful team around Jack Eichel. The Tank worked. We got our franchise player. The trouble is, we also got a GM that doesn't know what to do next. And here we are.
  6. Yes, but only in that we should have held on to more of our 2015 draft picks. I'd rather have a lot more young talent right now than the duds Murray was targeting the last 2+ years.
  7. He's a starter, but we're not going to win a Stanley Cup with him as our no.1 goalie. So that was an awesome trade.
  8. Like how sometimes something is so "entertaining" that it makes you want to stab yourself in the knee with a fork? Entertaining like that.
  9. Only 3 teams in the league have a worse goal differential. I'm no expert, but I think adding two no.2 overall picks to the roster and half your moves actually being good ones might lead to a better outcome than that. I guess the good news is that we traded away a bunch of our draft picks in a stacked 2015 draft. So that's awesome too.
  10. I love this. This actually makes me wish I was a Lehner fan. :(
  11. He's made more mistakes than smart moves but, sure, maybe he'll be a completely different person moving forward....
  12. Can anyone still envision the Sabres ever winning a Stanley Cup with Bylsma as coach, Murray as GM, or Lehner as the no.1 goalie?
  13. Given how little we've received in return for everything TM has traded away, I'd expect Evander Kane to fetch us a nice 5th rounder for 2018.
  14. We've been trading picks and prospects as fast as we can for 2+ years so.....
  15. Murray traded away a ton of prospects and picks in the last 2+ years and all we have to show for it now is a slow bottom-5 team saddled with some bad contracts that are basically untradeable now. His supposed strength was that he was a draft guru in Anaheim and Ottawa but he traded away 2 first round picks and 1 second round pick in the 2015 draft (which will probably go down as basically being a legendary draft). Should we go over the list of players from that draft that we could have instead of the mediocre goalie we acquired? Drafting Jack Eichel was probably enough to get us from 30th place to 27th place by itself. So basically Murray hasn't accomplished anything aside from finishing the Tank that Darcy started. Most of this board could have done a better job.
  16. Hockey can be....fun?
  17. They are in this franchise. #ThanksTim
  18. Did we see different footage? She was waving at him while he was drinking water and he waved back when he was done and then skated off. Literally the most meaningless thing ever. We'd love it if he was a player we loved.
  19. Oh no.....are they going to let Lehner play an entire game three days from now??
  20. There's a .gif of it on Twitter. It's a giant nothing-burger. He waved when he was drinking water at the bench during a break. If he was playing well it's something we'd say is proof he's cool under pressure. (He's not though.)
  21. F this. F giving him another "free year." He's had two free years already. He came into basically the dream scenario for a GM. The team is 30th and your owner literally wants you to keep it 30th for another season. Plus you're adding two second-overall draft picks to a system that already has a ton of prospects and picks to use to turn the team around. He inherits the perfect situation and the best he can do is get us from 30th to 27th? Jack Eichel could have done that himself. We're low on assets that other teams would want in a trade and now we're saddled with horrible contracts for guys like Moulson and Bogosian. Most of this board could have done a better job turning the team around than Tim Murray.
  22. The fact that this is the conversation on January 15, 2017, is reason enough to fire Bylsma and Murray. Also, FWIW, if we're in a position to draft Hischier, I hope we take it. We're about the least dynamic team in the world right now.
  23. The only parts of the Tank that worked were the ones Darcy worked on. He made us a 30th place team and amassed a lot of picks and prospects on the way. Murray managed to keep us at 30th place (yippee) and his trades haven't accelerated our turnaround at all. I'm pretty sure we could have made it from 30th to 27th just by adding Eichel. Murray is a failure.
  24. Jacob Larsson has already played in the NHL this season and if he was in our organization, he'd almost definitely be with the Sabres. He might even be our no.1 prospect right now. Carlsson and Juulsen are good prospects that could help next year. In the 2nd round, but before the Sabres got Guhle, the Bruins picked up Brandon Carlo who is already 46 games into his career as an NHL defenseman. But we don't have to limit it to defensemen. Forwards taken from pick 21 to 51 (when the Sabres picked again and got Guhle) that have already played in the NHL include: Konecny (!), Beauvillier, Aho, and Sprong. Bowser, White, Roslovic, and Greenway haven't played in the NHL yet but they're great prospects too. The 2015 draft was stacked. We should have been trying to have MORE picks there versus less. Instead, Murray (supposedly this great draft scout) trades picks away in multiple deals and, in the case of the 21st pick, for a goalie that is *at best* a marginal upgrade over some combination of Chad Johnson/Nilsson/Ullmark. The Leafs rebuild zoomed by ours because they're smart and we're stupid. It's not just coaching.
