Still here. That nightmare of a game last night wasn't on him. Why is it hard to believe? He has literally one good trade (ROR) under his belt in 2+ years as GM of this team. We all love Concept of GMTM but so far he's as much a dud as Bylsma.

Way more than just one. He hired our horrible coach and somehow made our defense worse than it was during the Tank years when we were *trying* to lose. He traded away assets as fast as he could and we basically have nothing to show for it other than some bad contracts that are years away from expiring. But, yeah, he's a great GM! ZFG!!!

I'm fine keeping him. His contract isn't egregious and he's finding his game. That said, if we can swing a trade to get a young defenseman (prospect) that could be part of our Top 4 for years to come, I'm definitely interested. Anaheim's depth makes sense for us.

Agree. If Eichel ever gets decked like that (might as well say "WHEN" since he's got a target on his back and it's bound to happen either cleanly or via some filthy hit), I hope our entire team loses their minds and hurts someone. Or many someones.

Watching it again on YouTube a couple times -- that hit caught McCabe off guard as well. You could see that he realized his only chance to check Laine was right there and he even put his hands up to brace the impact. It could have just as easily been him getting hurt there. Hope Laine is OK. He's awesome.

Between Lehner and the ex-Sabres scoring, this is not a tremendous day for GMZFG's trades.

It almost always does, and has for years. I used to think it was because the team sucked but I noticed people can't even muster the energy to make noise when they're announcing the starting line-up (with players that we generally like). Like, we can't even get excited for the start of games anymore? I think Buffalo just treats its sports WAY too seriously -- both because the city is downtrodden and because all the losing amplifies things. The atmosphere at a Stars game in Dallas is incredible by comparison; not because people there love hockey more, but because they're just there to have a fun night. It's not life or death if the team wins.

Nilsson got ripped by the announcer for giving up a rebound on the tying goal in Chicago but, FWIW, I think Lehner has a way bigger problem with rebounds. The puck sticks to Nilsson a little better, or at least it seems to. (Is there a stat for this?) Also, Kris Baker raised the issue of if Cal Peterson would sign with the Sabres or wait for FA to sign anywhere. His take was that his agent would want to know if the Sabres were going to make a long-term commitment to Lehner. Between that and Nilsson, I wouldn't. Sign Peterson and tell him he can play in the NHL this year.

Pretty close??? I would trade him and a 3rd round pick in return for nothing just to be rid of that disaster of a contract.
