  1. Let's say Lehner can make 50 starts this year -- way more than he ever has in an NHL season to date. Can Nilsson and Ullmark give us what we need in the other 32 games to make the playoffs? After signing Okposo and trading for Kulikov, our goal for this year has to be to make the playoffs. Replacing Chad Johnson with Nilsson seems like a pretty notable downgrade that puts that goal in doubt.
  2. Reading up about our new back-up and he seems pretty terrible. This is really the best we could do via trade? Why not bring back Enroth for a year? The most games Lehner has ever played in a season is 36 (in 2013-2014). He's played 107 games total since 2010-2011. Is it really wise to hope he can play 60-70 games this year because we have a lousy back-up? Can he even stay healthy long enough to make that happen?
  3. He might be cocky. He might just be confident. Maybe he thinks he can do great things in the NHL but only if he's in the right situation. It's tough to say. And it's frustrating for fans when we may have to wait all summer to see where his head is at.
  4. The contract thing doesn't bother me. When you're choosing a company to work for straight out of college (which is basically what Vesey is doing), you'd want to consider potential career trajectory and not just starting salary.
  5. He has the right to do all this but it'll look sketchy as hell if he refuses to sign with anyone except for the team his dad works for (Toronto). Wanting to work for his dad's team seems a little weird to me too. I feel like guys in their early 20s want to do their own thing. Buffalo still seems like a better fit than Toronto or Boston, but I'm wondering if he has interest in other teams too. He could join Tampa Bay and be contending for a Cup next year. Chicago? Pittsburgh?
  6. He's a UFA in two years. Right now the long-term contracts are going to ROR and Okposo, and (presumably) Eichel, Reinhart, and Risto. Maybe Lehner. Hopefully another stud defenseman. That's 7. If Kane doesn't fit into the long-term plan, maybe the best we can hope for is that he has a great season this year and we trade him next summer.
  7. Not really. If we're trying to move him at some point, I assume it's because he's either over the hill or we just need to free up money. And in either scenario, we wouldn't be too concerned with the return. And if we're not concerned with the return, we should be able to find 1 team out of 15 (possibly more if there's another expansion) willing to take him on. BTW, Okposo's Twitter bio is great: https://twitter.com/bookerT2116
  8. Did both guys say this, or is there just confusion about which player GMTM was talking about when he said that?
  9. Any time Jeremy White is on the radio talking extra fast and loud (he's almost shouting) trying to defend something a Buffalo team is doing that fans may not like, you know something dumb is about to go down.
  10. Getting the feeling that we're about to do something really stupid.
  11. And just like that, the euphoria Oilers fans were feeling from randomly being able to draft Puljujarvi this year is gone.
  12. I'm happy overall that he stayed in Tampa. He could have gone somewhere else in our division and made our lives hell. Or we could have given him $12M per season and then lost some other guys from our core later when we were against the cap. I also like the idea of star players that spend their whole career with one team, and hopefully that can be Stamkos now.
  13. The standing version with legs wasn't terrible. The other 100 versions all were though. When that thing leaked, I was one of the PO'ed people who said he'd never buy anything with the slug on it. And I don't think I ever did. Can we fix our current logo? Some maniac put a silver outline around *literally every element*: the buffalo, the motion line above the buffalo, the motion line below the buffalo, both swords and their hilts, the inside of the gold border, and the outside of the gold border. There are so many silver outlines that they literally collide with one another at the tips of the swords and their hilts, the top motion line and the buffalo, the buffalo and the sword blade on the right.
  14. Huge drop off after 129 this year.
  15. Just Pu It.
  16. 6'1 Czech defenseman who plays in the WHL. Sure.
  17. He's a 6'3 Swedish defenseman who is coming here to play college hockey next year. I'm in love with Concept of Nyberg. http://host.madison.com/wsj/sports/college/hockey/badgers-men-s-hockey-wisconsin-adds-swedish-defenseman-philip-nyberg/article_b0281194-7a4f-5f42-a467-7fd43d24ac07.html
  18. Yeah, swing for the fences at this point. I love using the 2nd half of the draft to pick college-bound guys or European players.
  19. He's huge at 6'5 and one of the younger players in the draft. He played below the CHL this year but is going to Penn State next year. We might never hear a thing from him again but his upside is a Fasching or Vesey type college career where no one can believe how late he was drafted. We'll know more in a year.
  20. Actually like what I'm reading about him: http://toomanymenonthesite.com/2016/03/05/boston-college-d-casey-fitzgerald-draft-eligible-prospects-with-nhl-bloodlines/ If everything was the same but he was 6'2", this would look like a great pick.
  21. Was draft eligible last year but no one took him. Had a great first year at Boston College. *shrug*
  22. Article from April: http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/prospect-need-to-know-cliff-pu-is-making-london-a-nightmare/
  23. The first two lines sound a lot like Reinhart. Obviously GMTM puts a premium on players with a heavy game but I don't think those are the ONLY players he wants.
  24. Yes. The fact that he can make those moves makes me feel better than if he was the biggest, fastest, most athletic guy in the world but could only shoot the puck directly into the goalie's chest when he finally got an opportunity.
