Can't wait for the riveting Eichel interview from Paul Hamilton.. "So, Jack, what do you think about Robin's comments after the Vancouver game, Robin is an emotional guy he wears his heart on his sleeve, is that something you expect after a tough loss where you feel maybe the team didn't play it's best game, that maybe comes from lacking some consistency as a team, is that something that the team can maybe rally around going forward down the stretch as the games become more critical... blah blah blah...?" ...all the while Jack nodding profusely, eyes rolling back into his head, "Yeah, yeah, yep, for sure, yes, yeah, yeah...."
-
Kopitar and Carter eventually fell in line with Suter's chip and grind system, and they won a few Cups. There's no reason Eichel and Co. can't do the same, although Bylsma is no Suter and Lehner isn't Quick, and there's no Drew Doughty, other than that we're right there!
-
I'd move Eichel for Scheifle, Trouba and Byfuglien.
-
Lehner vs Eichel cage match should be the final showdown.

The Sabres roster is filled with grinders, ROR, Kane, Okposo, Foligno, Girgensons, Bailey, even Ennis I would say. DDs system is tailored for this roster. Jack doesn't like it? Too bad kid, learn to play the right way... you haven't done anything in this league that makes you too good to play a system. I agree with what Lehner is saying, I don't want ut coming from my goalie tho. ROR or Gio or some other vet needs to be calling these guys out... that lack of leadership is a bigger concern than the young kids ignoring the system.

Shut up and do your job tendy. It's fine if he voices his displeasure within the confines of the lockerroom. But to do it in the media speaks very poorly of him as a professional. It won't be forgotten by the players.
-
I don't either. Could be turmoil the next time Robin has a bad game. Just shut the up and stop pucks.
-
Did Spurgeon do something to Nyquist earlier that shift? I feel this incident is missing some context.
-
He works for the Sabres right? His questions (if you can call them that) aren't really questions at all, he just force feeds them talking points most of which are just pointing out the obvious. And often he just keeps talking without giving the player a chance to reapond.

They played a different style with Jack out of the lineup, so scoring chances were down as well.. If you also look at goals allowed per game, BUF is giving up 1 more goal per game with him in the lineup. The lesson here is that it's a system thing, not just Jack doing all this on his own.

Yeah, it was a junior stick, he's been using intermediate sticks for a while now. He shouldn't have flexed it, but he's grown a ton in the last few months and I don't think be realized he could snap it. Knowing him he wouldn't intentionally try to break it. But I feel like there's a lesson to be tought here so I'll give it some thought. The pro shop guy wanted me to pay for the stick and I asked why they couldn't just return it for replacement under warranty. I feel like maybe I should've paid for it just to show my kid how to take responsibility for your actions... but then again maybe the stick was defective or already partially cracked.

GMTM is always open for business.

Need some parenting advice. My 13 year old snapped a 40 flex kids stick in the pro shop testing the flex on it. He barely leaned on it. Do I pay for the stick? Make him pay out of his allowance? I'm fairly certain the shop can just get a replacement from bauer as it's under warranty. I'm considering what disciplinary action to take with my son if any.

Look at the data Flagg posted in the other thread showing where other teams shoot on BUF. Most of their shots are from the point, in thr middle which is the easiest saves to make.... I like that he saves those shots, but he doesn't see much rubber from the high percentage scoring areas because of how the Sabres setup defensively in their zone.
-
Game they should win, but at 23-22-10 they're due for a loss. I'll say they get down 3-0 early storm back in the last 5 minutes but come up short... 4-2.
-
Same, teeing off at noon, with the way I play, highly unlikely to be done by 4p puck drop.
-
My hope is simply that they play physical and finish all their checks, and block some shots for a change, and score more than 2 goals, and make Matthews invisible, and Eichel goes wild, and Lehner punches Matthews in his repuslive excuse for a face.
-
I agree, but those Kings teams also gave up very few shots in general. BUF gives up the most shots in the league.
-
DIed the day after national Pizza day.
-
The guy who touched it last gets credit for the goal and SOG... because without the tip there's no telling if the shot would have actually been on net.
-
Flagg, what's the significance of "unblocked" shots vs all shot attempts? Wouldn't total shot attempts give a better idea of where teams are attacking from? Likewise with shot attempts against?
-
These guys are going through a stretch of 12 games in less than 3 weeks. The more rest they can get, the better. They're not even skating on off days.
-
very interesting data there. I think that also shows how poor BUF is at blocking point shots... right? And our left D can't get pucks through.
-
McCabe broke his stick and still hit 99. It's nowhere near accurate.
