  1. smaller goalie pants
  2. I'm not sure they need to make the protected list public? Each team probably submits it to the league, who presents it to the Vegas staff. If it leaks, there could obviously be turmoil.
  3. I follow the Ducks out here. They have a good team here's a few takes.... They have some outstanding defensemen... Fowler, Lindholm, Vatanen.. with up and comers Theodore and Montour. Bieksa is their Gorges, must take advantage of him when he's on the ice... get on him quick and he'll cough up the puck. Perry has been terrible this season. 9 goals in 55 games for a guy making $8.6m... they pay him to score goals, that's all he's good for. Getzlaf never shoots enough... here's another guy making +$8m who has a whopping 8 goals in 48 games. Despite all this they still find ways to win... due to their dynamic defense and depth at C (Getzlaf, Rakell, Kesler). Will be a tough matchup for BUF 3rd line, whoever that is. While you're watching the game, pay attention to how well Fowler (and Vatanen and Lindholm) skate, and how quick they are on puck retrievals. Will be a challenge even for guys like Kane to get any pressure on the forecheck. Theodore and Montour are plus skaters as well. Rakell is an up and coming talent, IMO he'll be an All-Star someday, reminds me of a young Briere, he has that potential... great hands, smooth, agile, plus offensive awareness. Get an early goal on Gibson and he'll be shaky the rest of the game. Weak 5-hole.
  4. We're nowhere near that point. Talent wise this is a playoff bubble team... and guess what... they're a playoff bubble team. I'll become concerned if you the players start talking about needing to do something differently... but all you hear them talk about is putting together a full game... playing the system for 60 minutes, which is not a slight on the coach.
  5. Don't lose sight of the goal of this franchise.. It's not to make the playoffs... it's to build a perennial Cup contender. You don't do that by trading away prospects to hopefully slide into 8th place and get pounded by the Capitals in the first round. Would it be nice to get in the playoffs this season? Sure it would, but don't mortgage the future for some temporary success.
  6. It's not like he went full Steve Ott... http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/news/steve-ott-calls-sabres-fans-booing-completely-ridiculous/ "I think it's completely ridiculous, to be honest with you," Ott said. "We go into other buildings, we've won a lot of games and teams should have the same amount of frustration, sold-out buildings and it's funny because they're continuing to cheer on their team. They stand behind their team. They respect the work ethic and everything else. "It's disheartening when we did get hemmed in our zone and they're basically mocking us when you get up past the blueline and you finally get it in their zone after I guess you could say that minute and a half shift when they didn't have a scoring opportunity. I guess you can say it was more the mocking of my teammates and everything else that probably pissed a lot of guys off, including myself." "You're a fan of the Buffalo Sabres and hopefully you come to cheer us on and motivate us to be good. We've got a lot of young players on this team and they definitely don't deserve to be booed. They deserve to have that excitement and energy. It's definitely not their fault for the last six years of frustration that's gone on."
  7. They like him, but they're looking elsewhere at the moment.
  8. I see him about once a week or so, we talk Ducks stuff occasionally, always has a few good stories to tell.... duffel bags full of cellphones for road trips, cocaine abuse, player/coach relationship issues... etc.. It's fascinating stuff. There's a lot of dark and dirty stuff that goes on inside organizations.
  9. He's found some chemistry on new line with Charlie Coyle.
  10. I'll make a prediction. Believe me, ANA already knows Kane and Girgensons inside and out. This game will do very little to tilt the scales. (source: I have a friend inside the Ducks organization)
  11. minimum draft requirements: 1 player from each team (30) 14 forwards 9 defensemen 3 tendys 20 2017/18 contracts $43.8m min cap hit $73.0m max cap hit
  12. They must draft minimum of 3 goalies.
  13. Montour for Fasching + 3rd
  14. Other than Bylsma this season? ummmmm.....
  15. I broke my wrist doing the same thing, right hand got pinned between the boards, ice, and my body as I hit the boards. Didn't feel like much until I took my glove off and my wrist was crooked. We probably won't find out his status until tomorrow because they don't practice today. However, if it was broken I doubt he'd be giving interviews after the game, he'd have gone to the x-ray room. I'm sure he's fine.
  16. It almost looks like he's attacking the puck when it's shot at him. Instead of letting the puck come to him and absorbing it, he's kicking or punching at it. Like that shot that bounced out of his glove in NJ... he was slapping his glove at the puck. Most goalies would let the puck hit their glove and catch it, instead he slaps his glove towards the puck.. which is bad technique if you're trying to prevent rebounds. You'd think that would correctable, but I haven't noticed an improvement throughout the season.
  17. Bogosian Both in the minus teens this season with little offensive production to speak of. You don't improve a team with a -20 goal differential by adding a defenseman who is a -19 in 48 games. That's going in the wrong direction.
  18. Firing Bylsma at this point in time would be a mistake. He's a good teacher, the young guns are improving under his tutelage. I don't think he's the long term answer, but he's what this team needs right now. I'd give him another season, with the young guys taking another step and guys like Guhle replacing Gorges, maybe Nylander makes an impact, etc.. this team should be in the playoff mix from the get go. You've all seen it, when this team plays with a purpose, they're very good and can compete with the top teams. The players know it, the speak of it often. You don't hear them say anything negative about the system they're being asked to play.
  19. You think Bylsma will let him loose? He only has 4 goals this season, and is a liability in his own end. Sounds like he'd be a perfect fit.
  20. IMO there is a minute chance Ullmark gets picked in the draft considering one or more of Girgensons, Larsson, Gionta, Ennis, Foligno, Moulson, Bogosian will be made available. My money would be on Girgensons or Larsson. I really hope they don't protect Larsson, they don't miss him at all since he's been out... you could argue offensive production from the 3rd line has improved since he's been out.
  21. Ghost is the next Marc-Andre Gragnani. He's an absolute mess defensively. If you teach him to play D properly his offensive production (what little he's had this year) will decline, and he's small... no thank you. You put him on this Sabres team and you're just asking for trouble.
  22. I'm confident Eichel will get there. I don't think he realizes yet just how dominate he can be given his natural abilities. We see glimpses of it, but not consistently shift by shift.
  23. To honor heroes past go with division names of: Orr Howe Gretzky Leino
  24. It's like they all know Julien is available and are doing what they need to do.
