Does anybody on this team know how to block a shot? Every point shot is getting through on the net. -

hahhaha yeah, finally on the fortunate end of those calls. Boedker. Why didn't we sign him when we had the chance? -

What a snipe by our holiness... filthy. -
I won't hold it against him either, but this showdown thing is for the fans to showcase players talents. They try on the accuracy and hardest shot contest, but the breakaway challenge is just dumb... Biron? really? They could score everytime if they really wanted to. Maybe do a timed stickhandling drill or passing into the mini-nets maybe? Anyway, back to Eichel, yes, I see his an improvement in his effort level away from the puck, but he has lapses where he just doesn't look interested, or frustrated, or completely lost in his own end... he'll be out there for 20-30s then casually skate to the bench for a line change with body language that says "I give up, this is just too much" while the rest of his linemates are finishing the shift.

GDT GDT - Sabres at New Jersey - February 6, 2017 7:00 PM

...and their shot blocking in general is abysmal. I'd love to see a season long stat of net shot blocks... like a PDO shot block statistics because it seems more than half the time our d-men shoot the puck it gets blocked, but very rarely do any of our forwards block opposing shots from the point. Coaching? Inexperience maybe? Lehner asking to see the puck? I don't know, but it seems like something they need to focus on.... and on that same topic, remember early in the season when Risto would walk the line and fire a low quick wrister through to the net? He doesn't do that anymore, haven't seen it for months. -
It's just a big joke to him. I question his competitiveness at times... he mails it in some shifts too and it's noticeable, always the first off the ice on a line change it seems too.

Here in soCal you need to specifically ask for blue cheese instead of ranch... unless you find yourself at Santora's nearby here in MV where blue cheese is standard. -
Deadline Nearly Here! What is GMTM going to do?
pi2000 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
There's still a lot of hockey left to be played between now and the deadline. If they go on some insane hot streak, they might stand pat at the deadline, maybe add a veteran. If they continue down the same path they've been on, I'd expect guys like Girgensons, Foligno, Gionta, Kulikov, Ennis, etc... to be up for grabs. -
Does GMTM have full control of the coaching situation? Or is he at the mercy of Terry (like Whaley)?
-
That was a bad rebound. That said, I don't pin this loss on Lehner... should h3 have caught the puck? Yes. Did the Sabres deserve to win? No.
-
McCabe will prolly win the clapper contest, but Eichel should easily beat him on accuracy and b-way. Should be fun to watch... I'll say McCabe hits high 90s and Eichel mid-90s.
-
Wow, so sensitive for a big guy. I don't think he sucks. I just don't think he has the qualities to be a successful goalie come playoff time.
-
I think they waived him before Larsson's injury?

Lehner has been very good at home. I'd go Nillson then Lehner tomorrow. -
Interesting... did not know that. There needs to be advanced goalie stats that track rebound%, avg rebound radius, and what % of rebounds are possessed by the opposing team.
-
This means they can't send him to Roch... right?

This is the yahoo Live game of the day... http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/live-video/ Sabres coming off a convincing home win to get to 21-20-10, this is a game they typically lose, and Schneider is coming off a 32 save 5-1 W at Columbus.. he's heating up.... so... I don't like our chances. -
Enough of Brady and the Hoodie, Time to Root for the Falcons
pi2000 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Brady retire now? -
Wow, one-way deal? Good for him, he's been solid if unspectacular.
-
Who wins? Who cares? O'Reilly beat out Foligno in the first matchup. Foligno clocked a 100mph clapper, and O'Reilly went 4 for 4 in the accuracy contest in 8.3s. Impressive... but Foligno is still dust tho, couldn't even get a shot off in the breakaway challenge.
-
Are you just looking at sv%? That's nice but it doesn't tell the whole story. Vezina isn't just for sv%. Lehners save % is high because the Sabres give up a lot of shots from the outside... which any goalie should be stopping, so his stats are somewhat inflated when compared to top teams like MTL.

Pick him up, waive D-Lo?

Expansion Draft -- Sabres moves and speculation
pi2000 replied to SabresBaltimore's topic in The Aud Club
https://www.capfriendly.com/expansion-draft Carrier will be protected. Remember GMTM traded for him, he's not going to let him get away for nothing. He's going to expose at least one of Foligno, Girgensons, and Larsson because they're not his guys and don't fit his blueprint. IMO I think Girgensons gets moved at the deadline for picks.
