  1. I'll watch, but have low expectations. Lehner's rebound control has got to be the worst I've ever seen at the NHL level. The 4th line should only play one shift a period at most. Ennis still looks concussed. Foligno has disappeared. 1 point and a -6 in his last 10. 0 points in his last 9 games. Risto, 1 point in his last 9 games. For whatever reason, O'Reilly's production has dropped... 0 points, total of 4 SOG the last 3 games. Put Kane and Gionta with Eichel on the top line. Reinhart, O'Reilly, Okposo on the second line.
  2. I disagree. Drafting well and having young players make an impact are trademarks of successful teams.
  3. I think Guhle and Fitzgerald fit that mold. Borgen maybe? http://www.sabresprospects.com/2014/05/will-borgen.html Not saying they're all going to crack the top 4, but they're plus skaters so it's nice to at least have those guys in the pipeline, hopefully one of them exceeds expectations someday. It's just not possible to acquire top 4 d-men through FA anymore, they're too valuable.
  4. When you compare Fedun/Falk to guys like Bogo and Gorges, etc.. they look like very capable NHL defensemen. However, you put them on a contender and they look terrible. They don't make a lot of mistakes, but they don't generate anything either... they don't make plus plays. They're just very very average, servicable guys, which are nice to have around as depth, but they shouldn't be in the top 6.
  5. I blame Bogo for Franson's troubles. I'd like to see Franson with McCabe or Fedun, somebody quicker on their feet. Put Bogo with Gorges... on the sidelines.
  6. They've been incredibly fortunate on the injury front this season. I think they plummet down the standings from here on out. The young guns will slowly wilt as the season wears on.
  7. Did Foligno or Ennis play last night? They were largely invisible. I'd like to see O'Reilly or Okposo with Eichel and Reinhart. Then do something like Okposo with Kane and somebody. We have two very good centers then nothing. To keep with the spirit of this thread... Trump sucks.
  8. TOR is a mirage.
  9. This team is at a crossroads. They've showed they can play well as a group so I wouldn't call for a firesale just yet. They'll add some youth and speed next season which will help, I don't think they're very far off.
  10. It is? I thought plus/minus was an antiquated stat with no meaning in today's game?
  11. Risto looks mentally fatigued. Late on everything.
  12. Maybe Nillson starts the 3rd? Or does Bylsma leave Lehner in because of his reaction in TOR. I'd like to see what happens if they get to 6 or 7 and then Bylsma just leaves him in there.
  13. Paul Byron Bogo now a -4
  14. Here it is... goals against per game per month, net being the difference between avg goals for and avg goals against. Oct: 2.85 (net 0.35) Nov: 2.57 (net 0.93) Dec: 3.14 (net 0.71) Jan: 2.91 (net 0.42) ..so I guess they're trending in the right direction sort of. If they can get their goals against back down to Oct/Nov levels and maintain their scoring pace, they'll be in good shape. Lehner has to be better tho.
  15. back acting up again?
  16. Didn't BUF just play there a week or so ago? This schedule sucks. I'll make a bold prediction... Price ouytplays Lehner. Go Sabres!
  17. If they make the goalie equipment small enough they'll be able to see the puck when it's under them... right? Or how about a depression in the ice behind the goalline, so the puck falls in and gets sucked into a hole, like superchex bubble hockey then the ref hits a button and the puck drops from the scoreboard. And whatever happened to goal judge who sat in the stands behind the net? That would catch a lot of these situations where the has a bad sightline.
  18. Can you do the same but for goals against?
  19. I like about 3/4 of this team. Getting better, still a handful of upgrades needed.
  20. So the NHL can curse on national TV but on this forum we can't even say the word . Makes sense.
  21. Not that many pucks go out of play these days with the nets in place... and they wouldn't be much more expensive anyway. A chip attached to some circuitry that runs along the perimeter of the puck... then use a hawk-eye type system of sensors to triangulate the puck's exact position in relation to the plane of the goalline. It would be quite simple. They could also use this system to determine offsides... at least to the point of knowing exactly at what point in time the puck completely crosses the blue-line. Many reviews are inconclusive because they can't tell exactly where the puck is.
  22. PHI scores with 2min left to take a 2-1 lead. Just try to avoid a 3pt game!
  23. https://www.nhl.com/sabres/video/sabres-showdown-returns/t-277437090/c-48795303 McCabe, Reinhart, Eichel, O'Reilly, Foligno, Risto, Gionta, Girgensons face off in a skills competition. No Kane, Okposo or Ennis (or Moulson).
  24. It seems they can be caught now. TOR @ PHI tonight, just please, for once, not a 3 point game! I almost feel like cheering for a TOR regulation win, but that doesn't seem right. DAL takes a lot of penalties (28th in the league), gives up a lot of goals (28th), and has a bad PK (29th). PP alone could win the game.
  25. He already knows. His Dad and brother are his guides. He'll be fine, I'm not worried about him, he's just young. That said, he showed some flashes of offensive brilliance at the WJC, but I wasn't impressed with his overall game.... too lackadaisical.
