The whole size/strength thing is overrated IMO.
Every prospect interviewed at dev camp spoke of getting bigger and stronger over the summer, when they should focus mostly on endurance and speed of movement.
Strength will come naturally as they age. Getting too big too fast only slows you down and you lose some muscle memory and coordination in the process.
Name one top 15 goalie in the league who struggles as bad as Lehner on breakaways.
Stopping breakaways is part of the game, it's not just shootout situations. He's the worst I've ever seen at stopping them, he needs to show improvement in that area or pay somebody else who is better at stopping them.
The red flag here is the "routine bump" in practice that set of this entire series of events. He had concussion symptoms and couldn't sleep, started dropping weight, etc... just because of a routine bump in practice.
That's not good news.
Ultimately his conditioned worsened due to a negative reaction to the medication, but he fact that he needed the medication in the first place is a bad sign and bad for his future IMO.
Ha, no that's not me.
I tend to agree with his assessment. Too many questions marks to forecast them as a playoff team. If it all comes together, it's possible.
Just 2 years ago the future was supposed guys like Lemieux, Armia, Zadorov, Compher, Petersen, etc...
It's pointless to try and forecast a lineup more than one year in advance.
