  1. Yes, you could make that argument. But I would argue that neither coach is getting enough offensive production out of these players, and Housley has certainly done worse on the goals against side of things.
  2. Foligno, Ennis and Gionta accounted for 33 goals in 16-17. Girgensons, Pouliot and Pominville have accounted for 27 goals this year, and there's still 20 games remaining. Let me put it this way, BUF has 151 goals through 63 games. That's 2.4 goals per game. The 16-17 team had 201 goals through 82 games, or 2.5 goals per game. The reason for their suckitude this year is they're giving up 3.3 goals per game, compared to 2.9 last season. That's almost half a goal a game worse, with no increase in offensive production. Depth scoring is not the issue, it's how they play defense and defend.... that's coaching IMO.
  3. I agree. Bylsma did much better with a worse roster. I'm not saying Bylsma is the answer, but when comparing apples to apples Housley is doing much worse than Bylsma did.
  4. I like that he's not trading away prospects and picks for middling NHL players. That will pay off down the road.
  5. both named Daniel, both 5'10 180lbs Daniel O'Regan, born in Berlin, Germany was drafted in 2012. Guess who was the leading point producer for the Berlin Polar Bears in 2012? Daniel Briere
  6. You would think that when they're trying to have a kid, they would time it so the birth would be sometime between late April-October. That's a six month window.... figure it out! By my calculations, the child was conceived around May 27th.. I think this is one of those examples Botterill is referring to when he mentioned a lack of preparation.
  7. That Kings/Knights game last night was fantastic. Rematch tonight in Vegas.
  8. This reminds me of the Chris Gratton trade to PHX in 2003. Gratton and Kane are similar types of players. Both traded for an undersized overaged prospect with some offensive flair who hadn't yet established himself in the NHL.
  9. As he should have. Unfortunately, nobody took the bait.
  10. You've referenced 7 different stats. Here's the only stat that matters. Bylsma taking over a 54 point team: Year 1: 81 points Year 2: 78 points (sans Eichel 1/3 season) Housley taking over an "underachieving" 78 point team with an improved roster and playoff bubble expectations: Year 1: 60 points End of discussion.
  11. Casey is certainly equipped with the tools to play in the NHL right away. That said, what's best for his development? Another year of college hockey.
  12. I, for one, am happy with the outcome. GMJB didn't panic and sell off underperforming assets, or picks or prospects... just to make a splash. His critique of the coaching staff was nice to hear. It's evident that he has a decent grasp of what ails this team. I have some renewed faith in his ability to right the ship. As for Kane, yeah, to the casual fan it's a disappointing return. I thought some GM would panic and give up more than market value to add him to a playoff roster. Unfortunately, through no fault of GMJBs, that didn't happen.
  13. Reading the tea leaves... Bylsma > Housley ... and the results speak for themselves.
  14. I went to a Barracuda/Roadrunners game last season in San Jose while I was there for work. Entertaining game, one player really stood out as better than everybody else.... O'Regan. Fast, skilled, making plays all over the ice, complete player. Not sure what happened to him this season, but last season he stood out as a guy who was destined for the NHL.

  16. My thoughts on this.... This is the internet. People will always be offended, people will always complain, people will always act inappropriately. If I want to ignore somebody because I don't agree with them, or for whatever reason, it's my right to do so.... and I really don't care if anybody ignores me... have at it. If mods want to ban people for whatever reason they choose, then so be it. That's life on the internet... it's not a democracy.
  17. Right.... the idea is to score more goals than the other team, not posses the puck for a longer time period. Last season playoffs for example... If you had picked the teams with the better Corsi%, you would've lost just about all of the first round matchups. Corsi can tell you if you suck, but you already know that... when comparing good teams, it's not a reliable metric.
  18. How are the power play stats comparatively?
  19. I'd do Risto, Reinhart, MIttlestadt, and a fist for Karlsson. Then flip Karlsson for Tavares. And flip Tavares for get Mittlestadt back and the first. Then flip Mittlestadt, the first and ROR for Karlsson.
  20. Eichel avg'd 0.93 points per game under Bylsma, and 0.96 under Housley. So yeah... we can all bow down to Housley for finally unleashing Jack's potential.
  21. dilly dilly!
  22. need to know his TRpm™ before we can label him a liability.
