I believe KA is looking at G but may indeed fall back to the 3 G idea again without reaching in a trade or overpaying in FA. D is a FAR bigger priority. 1-2 Vets. The team as a whole needs to learn how to play D in front of their G. I'd actually be a bit surprised to see another forward added.

Owner can still fire them any time he wants. Just has to pay them off. The contracts aren't prison terms. Shows stabilty to prospective FA's going forward. While the draft is a gamble, Beane has attacked FA to keep the team strong. Previous GM's took vacations or took naps when FA started. It's not just the draft anymore. McDermott will take the heat if they fail but let's see how this current team plays first.

Also needs to instruct Granato that the forwards need to quit getting caught deep and floating back on D. Never has a Sabres team given up so many clean breaks down the center of the ice. Alarming. Can't blame the Goalie there. So it starts with the draft this coming week and some wheeling and dealing to improve this roster.

The youth we are looking to eventually promote weren't taking 4th line spots. That's your Vet checking line. So look at the top 3 lines and pick someone to replace. JJP and Quinn grabbed the 2 open spots last year. Or someone is getting traded for D help to open up a spot.

Agree with the above concerning the draft adding help but I differ in one aspect. In what round the help comes makes little difference to me. I'm not writing the checks. Day 1 and Day 2 players don't work out sometimes. I accept that and don't fall to pieces. It's scheme, individual effort, off-field lifestyle ..whatever. I hope to get 3 players that can contribute out of each draft and in the cap age, a lot of FA Vet help.

Shows up to Rochester looking like a rugged 12 year old needing no development.. Reports say he's not even 5-9 and weighed in the 150's. But the constant chants by someone here to promote him blindly was impressive. I guess when your a bottom 4 team, it's desperation...
